Thank you So Much for watching Paul. Nobody ever reviews it, and it really does reserve far more attention. Their references, and quotes throughout the film are spot on, just making it a great feel good film.
Dude it's just like of cheech and chong made ET. The writing honestly sucks. Not an awful film and I lime Simon Pegg and Nick Frost but it wasn't really good.
I have only been to Hollywood once, but it was during the premiere of Paul. So I hung out (with a lot of other fans) across the street from the Chinese Theater and watched all these stars pull up and get their pictures taken. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost were so nice to come to our side of the street for pictures and autographs. It was a really cool experience.
i seriously dont understand people who line up just to see another person and a person who most likely is a pos and before you say anything i think all celebs are pos because they are.
@@daveross1638who hurt you? the only one being a pos here is you, I hope you realise that… judging EVERYONE based on your insecurities and self-hate and overcompensating by seeing yourself as superior to people you don’t even know… so I suggest you get some help for your issues and heal and use your heart&brain(: you can do it, I believe in you…
The irony of someone coming to a UA-cam comments section in order to belittle a perfect stranger for engaging in an activity that brings them some modicum of joy - by suggesting that said activity is made worthless due to the supposed bad character of individuals involved - is almost too profound to process.
I hate that movie. Yes, it's a technical masterpiece. It's Steven Spielberg, of course it's beautiful. But I'm going to leave my faithful wife and kids for some broad that shared an alien encounter experience.
When i was younger i didnt really get this movie but the older ive gotten the more i love it. Its such a love letter to sci-fi by two best friends. Its amazing.
A reference everybody misses is the red & black uniform the alien workers are wearing as everyone says their good-byes. It's from the TV Mini Series: 'V' (1983), and subsequent movies and series.
I LOVE Paul. There are so many Easter Eggs in there but you don't need to know any of them to love it. My sister and I were laughing so hard at every one. The most understated: Simon Pegg's final words before dying "oh my" are Captain Kirk's last words in Star Trek Generations.
THANK YOU for reacting to Paul! This is probably my favorite movie and is responsible for helping me through a difficult time. It's a crime there wasn't a sequel and it isn't held in higher regard. Great reaction!!
I saw this twice in the theater when it came out, and I rewatch it at least twice a year. I agree, they did a perfect job with Paul, you sorta forget you're looking at a CGI character and you just take him as another part of the cast.
As a tiny little side note. It might seem odd but my favorite line is when Simon Pegg says "we're in America!" For a lot of people around the world visiting America for the first time and seeing where all our favourite movies were shot, is a big deal and feels like a kind of surreal experience. All our lives we see America through our TV screens. But to actually walk the streets there feels like stepping into a movie. So in that sense the line fits the characters. They are really happy to have achieved a big thing for them and actually traveled the 3500 miles to get there. But I like to think it's also in a way, Simon Pegg and Nick frost saying "wow, were in America, actually making a big budget American movie like the ones we have watched our whole lives". Sort of the characters and the actors exclaiming there joy of achieving the dream for real. But all said in the same one line. I'm probably almost definitely reading too much into it. Awesome movie.
I watched this on DVDso many times, I eventually turned on the commentary and watched it that way for weeks. Great one to just have on. I'm with Pippin.
This is one of those movies that when I first saw the trailers I was not interested in at all but ended up seeing it and I absolutely love this movie. All the references and tributes to other movies was such a great part of this movie.
You two would love the TV series Spaced, starring Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, written by Simon Pegg and Jessica Hynes (who also stars in it) and directed by Edgar Wright. Movie references galore and you can see the roots of the ideas for the Cornetto Trilogy throughout
Great fun watch. I didn't spot the clip in the edit, but Agent Zoil's first name, Lorenzo, is a reference to the George Miller film "Lorenzo's Oil". That's a tear-jerker of a movie.
I just rewatched your “Groundhog Day” reaction from a couple of years ago and missed seeing Pippin. Had to come to watch a newer reaction to get my Pippin viewing fix 😁
Canadian content! Seth Rogen, who plays Paul, went to school at West Point Grey Secondary School in Vancouver, the city where I was born and grew up. Superbad isn't exactly a true account of his childhood, but it's what he and his writing partner Evan Goldberg fantasized about as a teenagers and all the teenage characters (except the girls, if I'm not mistaken) are real life people. He does excellent voice work, too. Sausage Party is a raunchy but much better movie than it should have been because he wrote it and provided voice work for it. A lot of the best and most successful comedies of the late 2000s and early 2010s were either written or starred Seth. My mom, who passed away last July, was a nurse and Seth's mom, Sandy, I believe was a nurse's aide and they worked together. Apparently she was quite a hippie when my mom knew her and I remember she told me about 40 Year Old Virgin and wanted to see it because he was in it. Yes, a lot of people from Vancouver sound like Seth. It's Vancouver. If the air isn't filled with smoke from wildfires, like it is now, it's filled with a different kind of smoke 🤣. That's the secret to Canadians being polite - Healthcare and cannabis.
l introduced my 13 year old granddaughter to Paul, Galaxy Quest and Evolution and Independence day. She loved watching them just as much as we did. We have also, after many months finished the complete series of Allo Allo. That went down very well.
An excellent film, and sadly very underappreciated. I always recommend "Paul" to those who watch the cornetto trilogy films, but nobody ever seems to take heed. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and also thanks for pointing out the Sci-Fi references which I totally missed!
This movie is such a "love letter" to sci-fi/fantasy fandom in general. Also, "Get away from her, you bitch!" being said TO Sigourney Weaver just about broke me the first time I watched this.
Great reaction! This film always seems to be overlooked by reactors (as does Galaxy Quest). So looking forward to seeing 'The Missus' when she watches some of those film references for real LOL!!
FINALLY someone reacts to this movie... this one is like MIB3, damn good movies that literally no one attempts to react too. (takes a look at other comments, oops ok lots of others on the same boat lol). I consider this a part of the Corneto Trilogy... maybe as an appendix or some sort.
Why is it that all of the supremely advanced aliens can't seem to maintain their spacecraft? They always manage to crash as soon as they travel through the void and manage to get all the way to Earth! 👽 🤣
More like something crapped out on their ride and the aliens thought to themself, "Any port in a storm..." Earth is the only garden rock in this star system, after all.
I have a #title to suggest - actually two. The first is the classic Stanley Kubrick sci-fi film "2001: A Space Odyssey", and then follow that with its sequel (which answers a lot of questions the first film didn't), "2010: The Year We Make Contact"
Paul was a very fun surprise when I stumbled upon it several years ago. Just about perfectly goofy. Great cast, great references. Thanks for covering it. I don't know of anyone else who has reacted to it. Another one that doesn't seem to get much attention is "A fish called Wanda".
A friend of mine used to work for Big Talk Productions. Prior to the start production of on Paul, he was approached by Frost who asked him if he wanted a trip to the US to act as assistant to himself & Pegg. He ended up having to turn the offer down due to not having a driver’s license; as he’d have been driving them both around. 🤦🏻♂️ My friend did however go on to help with the casting of Attack The Block; phoning myself & my ex to ask where in South London would be the best place to go to in order to find young actors for the upcoming film. We suggested Old Kent Road. Following the completion of filming, I got invited to be part of a test panel for Attack The Block; viewing a rough cut, minus a lot of the completed CGI (the creatures were people in fuzzy suits in the rough cut) of the film at MPC VFX in Soho.
I remember seeing this back in my teenage years I'm loving this movie very underrated in my opinion wish we could have got a sequel but honestly as a standalone movie this works!
Nobody ever gets the "Get away from her you bitch!" reference in the reactions to this movie. It was something Sigourney Weaver's character, Ripley, said to the queen in 1986's "Aliens", the second movie in the Alien franchise.
When Simon Pegg gets shot at the end, his last words are, "Oh My." This is a reference to Star Trek Generations. Spoilers in case you haven't seen it, but Captain Kirk dies in the movie and the last thing he says before he dies is "Oh My"
I remember hearing that it was meant to be the third Cornetto movie but Wright was locked up with Scott Pilgrim, so they basically did it themselves. I remember thinking that since the actual third Cornetto was also involving aliens that it made perfect sense. As much as I love Wrights style I'm not sure it would have been right for Paul. There's an earnestness to it that I think you lose with how Wright shoots a film.
Thank you So Much for watching Paul.
Nobody ever reviews it, and it really does reserve far more attention.
Their references, and quotes throughout the film are spot on, just making it a great feel good film.
I completely forgot about this movie that probably the reason why. It's a good funny movie but forgettable for some reason.
Paul I consider a honorary movie in the cornetto series.
Dude it's just like of cheech and chong made ET.
The writing honestly sucks.
Not an awful film and I lime Simon Pegg and Nick Frost but it wasn't really good.
Quite right too it’s fantastic
@@fayesouthall6604 You'd like a more realistic alien movie?

I think the highest praise I can give Paul as a character is that I completely forgot he was a CGI character almost straight away. Really fun film.
I love the part where after Paul is with them, they immediately pull over and rip off the "alien on board" bumper sticker".
Ok, Emily really needs to see 'Close Encounters'. I can't imagine not having that in my scifi movie lexicon.

@@ryangreen6255 I believe Spielberg later said he wouldn't have gotten on the spaceship at the end... he was still single when he made the movie.
I haven't but I know the main 2 references
eh, never seen it, never had any desire to.
"I'm on a mission from God" was a reference to The Blues Brothers.
Which hasn't gotten too many reactions either, sadly. One of my favourites! 💖
FINALLY!!!!! Someone is reacting to "Paul"! 🥳🎉🎉🎉🎉
Five others did already (:
I'll randomly reference "Agent Mulder was MY idea!" to see who has seen this.
Because of Nick Frost, and dealing with aliens, I like to double feature this with Attack the Block.
Attack the Block is a riot!

Jesse Plemons = Wish Matt Damon?!?!😂😂😂😂😂

"Tara" was played by Blythe Danner a Tv star from the 70's and Mother to Gwyneth Paltrow!
A lot of references? No, ALL of the references!
Kristen Wiig's curses in this movie are hilarious. 😂😂😂
I must not eat or drink anything when watching your reactions....Emily's 'Wish Matt Damon' comment had me spitting my drink out with laughter.
