I discovered your group back in the summer of 2020. My wife and I would sit and listen to your songs. She passed away the week before Christmas 2020. We had been married 20 years August 26,2020. Your music now helps to heal this old man's broken heart and spirit. Please keep playing so that I can keep listening.
Best wishes on getting back on an even keel. I lost by brother over 40 years ago, and an infant son 30 years ago, and each time thought I could not get through it. But we do. Time really does heal wounds and, like you, finding the right music is a blessing. Carry on and accept that there are better times ahead than just now. We all have a need to see new things as well as resume old pleasures. Don't be afraid to go forward again when your mourning eases. It is essential. I will always carry my brother's and son's memories wherever I end up. It gets easier, miraculously so. Best wishes from Europe.🌹
The only problem with that is for him to sing more another great singer would be heard less. A problem some of the greatest groups in history can only wish they had. Have you ever heard Karen sing? She is as good as her children and Emmett. A good trumpet player too.
I Love your Sound so much, Classic Bluegrass Gospel, makes me homesick for Pine Forests as I live in Hawaii. My parents sent me a Nitty Gritty Bluegrass Christmas album back in the 80's and whenever I listened to it, I would get a sense of being home as I used to play this kind of music on my guitar when I lived in the mountains of Colorado. Now as I am reaching near the end of my life, the going home has a different meaning as I am sure there will be pine forests where I am headed, but not just yet, I have a few more years here and I will be listening to you all. God Bless you Petersen Family from The Big Island of Hawaii.
They say Jerry Douglas is the greatest dobro player alive. I think not. Can Jerry play and sing? I think not. Emmett has taken the crown and even Jerry Douglas knows it.
Emmett is super talented. He comes from an amazing family and they had a band called "The Franz Family". Here they are performing "Wayfaring Stranger". Emmett's mother was called home to Heaven. ua-cam.com/video/EqcyCmEfPNc/v-deo.html
I saw your comment while listening to this song and it hits home. My son was also deep into self destructive drug use for about 10 years and by the grace of God he's been delivered. I pray that the Holy Spirit moves on your son and draws him in to God's arms. I pray that God sends faithful believers to minister to him and mentor him. Peace and God's blessings to you.
Can you say, "Anointed"? What more could any musian aspire to than touring down Heaven to Earth. So beautiful to hear the righteous sing the wonders of salvation.
My heart is heavy, my spirit shattered. My hope is on empty, and my faith is exhausted. I don't know how, but this song was recommended and at the top of the feed when I opened YT. It's what I needed. Oh gentle Savior here my humble cry.
Some of those feelings knocked on my door this week as well, praying for you brother. The road can be challenging, the gracious Savior is near and intimately familiar with these sorrows we bear. May He strengthen and uplift your soul.
Father God, You know Paul’s heavy heart, You know his shattered spirit and dried up faith. How he needs You to restore him again. Fill him with your faith, hope and love. Carry him in your arms out of this pit; he doesn’t have the strength to do it himself. Send him loving people to carry his burdens and encourage him. Because he has cried out to You, faithful God. Amen.
Bro, in this time we as true Christians are being tested like in no other time in human history. Stand strong my friend and I'll see you on the other side!
I don’t even have to wait for the music to start to hit the LIKE button! I love everything you beautiful people do! You are awesome, I sincerely thank You for your works!
I didn't know this song, so I went looking on the internet. I have seen that it is a 19th century religious hymn written by Fanny Crosby and set to music by William H. Doane between 1868 and 1870. I have yet to assimilate it, however it seems to me an excellent interpretation. I always really like Emmet's voice and then ... the interlude where mom starts playing bass with the bow and duet with Katie's fiddle is simply amazing!
And in the midst of downward spiral, loss and all.. the music of this family just recently came in (thanks to their JD's Country Roads cover I was hooked) and gave me reason not to give up yet... I really enjoy your music, covers and originals, Petersens!
Thank you for the uplifting words! Still holding the belief that everything will be okay in the end. When I found the Petersens music.. hopes and dreams in life, suddenly started to grow once more.. @fighterx @rob. thank you! And God bless. all is well.
@@rexmundieltheo5510 When I'm going through deep trials I listen to a song called Blessings by Laura Story. That song always puts things in perspective eternally. I hope you find peace in the midst of trials.
A beautiful rendition. Emmett has a unique voice and the harmony with Ellen and Matt is wonderful. For me the fiddle portions by Katie are what makes this something special.
Beautiful and powerful! There is power in the blood of Jesus and this song takes us there. The love of the Savior comes through your music--your voices. Please keep singing for the Lord--it brings healing and victory as we walk through this world of turmoil and hopelessness. May the Lord bless the work of your hands!
Love this arrangement. Emmett's vocal is magnificent, and I'm amazed at how you folks managed to make the sound so full with only six instruments. The acoustics seemed extra good. And Karen's bow on the bass was a very nice touch. Beautiful and amazing.
Such a consistently high level of music from this wonderful group. And in this particular case, an exceptionally beautiful arrangement (I assume Emmett’s). It really demonstrates that basic bluegrass has heretofore untapped potentials. But I think all (of a biblically spiritual bent) will agree, the Lord has brought together something very special here.
I just love hearing Emmet sing. I played his christmas song for months. Now, I plan to have this song on replay for a quite a while. He sings with such humbleness.
I have to say that this piece stopped me in my tracks on this busy Saturday. What an incredible arrangement! Many of us know the old hymn, but your choice of deceptive cadences in the chord progressions gives the song new life. The changes you made are simple, but they are fresh and appealing. This might be my favorite of all of your work. Absolutely perfect!
Emmett has such a calming voice, no matter what troubles I'm faced with, all it takes to calm my spirit is watching a couple of y'alls YT video's or driving down the road and popping "Wanderers & Whims" in the CD player. Y'all are doing Gods work and I know He's proud of you.
This was my prayer about 3 weeks ago without ever hearing this song before in my life and YHWH answered back in the biggest way! I just love y'all! I've got to meet y'all someday. I'm learning to play the banjo now slowly but surely. Keep up our Father's work. Love ya!

*LYRICS - Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior*
------------
Pass me not, O gentle Savior
Hear my humble cry
While on others Thou art smiling
Do not pass me by
Savior, Savior
Hear my humble cry
While on others Thou art calling
Do not pass me by
Let me at a throne of mercy
Find a sweet release
Kneeling there in deep contrition
Help my unbelief
Savior, Savior
Hear my humble cry
While on others Thou art calling
Do not pass me by
Trusting only in Thy merit
Would I seek Thy face
Heal my wounded, broken spirit
And save me by Thy grace
Savior, Savior
Hear my humble cry
While on others Thou art calling
Do not pass me by [x2]

Emmett sounds so great singing the lead on this song! I absolutely love this song! Thanks for pointing people to Jesus in these troubled days! He is coming back soon!
Emmetts voice is so unique! I could listen to him sing all day! Bless you all!
Oh ! Ellen! I love your dress! Beautiful as always guys! The fiddle sounds extra beautiful today Katie! Love the brother harmony! These two guys sound beautiful together!
I just realized Emmett isn’t a sibling!🤭 oh well! They sound beautiful together anyway!
Dear Petersens,
You have so many fans around this fallen world. Should you lose every last one, please stay the course & know what you do is good in & of itself.
This is first time I have listened to Emmett's voice. Keep your delightful performance on!
Great version! Emmett's voice is perfect for this song.
Excellent rendition of one of my favorite hymns from Fanny Crosby! I especially enjoyed the smoothness and control of Emmett's voice.
This time I heard his voice mainly.
His voice is so sweet and very clear.
Those little additions at the end of these videos is what's really nice.
