Some Descendants fans hate Mal because they don't see from her perspective. She stole Ben from Audrey with magic because she wanted to get the wand for her mother then fell in love with Ben and learned to be good. She caused Uma to escape the Isle when she ran away and her friends and boyfriend had to come get her and she ran away because she thought she wasn't good enough to be Ben's girlfriend. And she wanted to close the barrier in the last movie because of Uma and Hades. She wanted the barrier closed because she thought it was best for Auradon when Audrey was the real threat. Right. Ben was only under that spell for like what a day lol. Everything from after he came out of water was purely him. He even knew about the spell that she spelled him

So did Mal. The difference is uma wanted freedom for her people so they could stop living in squalor without enough food and shelter, etc. When Mal did it, it was to help her mom enslave auradon and people still decided to trust her after that.
Fr it’s as simple as that. How’s she gonna come from poverty and food insecurity and then turn her back on her ppl still going through the same in favor of ONLY protecting auradon? The isle had always been just as much the monarchy’s responsibility as auradon. Ben understood that.
Am I the only one who doesn’t feel bad for mal I mean those kids deserve a good life it’s not there fault there parents are bad they shouldn’t pay the price
Then you remember the mission mals mom gave her. If she opened the gates, any VK could get sent and cause a possible war. Not to mention, the villains, KILL people. You can’t say they never did just because it’s Disney.
She turned her back on hundreds of people living in poverty without fresh and healthy food when she used to be one of them and knew how bad it was. There’s really no excuse for that.
The song made it so sad including the fact that a lot of people used this song when Carlos/Carmen died and show pic of him so i was crying of memories of him and the scen
1 Celia is a literal child. She was what 12? 13? 2 Mal was trying her best. She was barely 18. Cut them some slack. Am i mad that Mal lied to her best friends and Uma? Sure. Do I feel like she could've been honest from the start? Heck yeah. But i also know that most people would have acted the same way as she did if we had been in her place. They were kids with adults' responsibilities.
I hate what uma said “your precious people” the isle is part of the kingdom to do your really think the Audrey would’ve just stopped? And not gone after the isle?
Anyone else feel like Ben kinda threw her under the bus here? Shes referenceing a decision *his* parents pressured her into and he didnt stand up to help her then or here. She made the wrong decisions, but honestly its hard to be an outsider somewhere and have everyone put the full weight of something soley on you.
That's a very good point. Would have been good writing to include him saying this to them. Head Canon says he had this discussion off camera after spell breaks which is why it jumps to everyone forgiving her so easily
Ella trataba de ser una buena reina y tal vez les mintio pero esto tambien le dolio a ella, ella a pesar de todo fue sincera al final pero Celia fue muy infantil en mi opinión
No matter How much I’ve rewatched this franchise I always get the chills from watching clips from the movies, bc of the fact that….. yeah😔💔 Those who knows, they knows💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
I honestly, I kind of agree with the VK's on this like how are you going to spend your entire life in a prison as a kid and then once you leave and get a better life go, Oh yeah you know what sounds like a great idea? Making sure every other kid that's born in the prison just stays there forever.
The comments be having a whole argument (but like wasn't if they resolved this with the stone there would still be a chance she would restart the program )
I was so angry at Celia in this scene. Even though what Mal did wasn't right, she was just trying to do the right thing. I couldn't warm up to Celia since the beginning of the series. I'm totally pissed off here.
everyone just assumed that mal was doing a bad thing in this scene when she was actually just trying to protect her kingdom. She had duties to fulfil and they didn’t understand that, she doesn’t deserve the hate they gave her for that.
Her Kingdom? What about her people? She's a villian kid, her people are the other vk's on the island. She completely turned her back on them. She lied after making promises to them and then abandoned them
Hard disagree. Her kingdom? Her people? She’s the child of two of the most powerful villains. She’s a child of the Isle. She originally went to the Kingdom to overthrow it. But instead saved it. Along with her friends. She was given a second chance and only then became a good person. She was not only taking away the chance to be better to the kids on the Isle. She was punishing them all for the sins of their parents.
@@discord4997 when she became Ben’s wife she had to make decisions fit for the queen of auradon. While I don’t disagree that she’s a child of the isle, she is the queen of auradon and had to do what was best for them.
@@reina2081 Yes she is a villain kid, but the people on the isle were starting to attempt to escape and no one knew what they would do because they’re evil. I’m not saying it was the best decision but it was her duty as Queen of Auradon.
If she thought she were doing the right thing, she wouldn’t have lied. She would have had an adult conversation, with Evie at the very least. No, she went with Ben’s parents against the rightful king to look good to them. And to cover HER mistakes. Uma got free BECAUSE OF Mal (she went to the Isle to sulk). But Uma had already backed down. Further, she pretty much kidnapped a bunch of kids (they came willingly… after being told they could go freely back and forth… once that wasn’t true, it was kidnapping). She was also the cause of Audrey going dark (Audrey was catty from the start because she recognized Mal as a threat to her relationship - rightly so!). So she has made almost every threat that she is so worried about. Finally, she absolutely made every bad choice she could. She shut down the program. She lied about it. She didn’t tell anyone the truth until it’s too late.

Nah I agree, don’t get how everyone’s defending Mal after she did a horrible thing to her family and her ppl
Then you remember the mission mals mom gave her. If she opened the gates, any VK could get sent and cause a possible war. Not to mention, the villains, KILL people. You can’t say they never did just because it’s Disney.
@@Minty-Animations yeah but the good people are bad too I mean Audrey didn’t come from the isle and she was bad
No, she did that she told them, but the thing is she didn’t want them to get upset, and she did the right thing to be honest
I am of the opinion that she should have told them straight off. Better to be hurt by the truth than lied to. 🤷🏼♀️
@@amythornton1984 Mal and Uma made a promise, if she told them uma would've drop the ember in the ocean.
She turned her back on hundreds of people living in poverty without fresh and healthy food when she used to be one of them and knew how bad it was. There’s really no excuse for that.
THE betrayal scene
she did what most, if not all, leaders do at least once.

I just noticed that the director or whoever coordinates the outfit is like obsessed with blue.
I hate what uma said “your precious people” the isle is part of the kingdom to do your really think the Audrey would’ve just stopped? And not gone after the isle?
She was right cos say they defeated Audrey. They would probably be sent back and all those kids would have been stuck in that filthy place

She was a liar period she had everyone risking their lives on a lie that she didn’t even have to tell
I was actually begging her friends to forgive her
Why? She lied to them. That ruins trust.
@@amythornton1984 but they should still be friends with her and be nice to her and in the end they eventually made peace in the end of the movie

They did eventually 😢😢 at the end I guess
This scene made me cry look at mals face I feel so bad for her
I feel so bad 😢
Ella trataba de ser una buena reina y tal vez les mintio pero esto tambien le dolio a ella, ella a pesar de todo fue sincera al final pero Celia fue muy infantil en mi opinión
I feel bad for those wigs they got from party city 😂😂
this is what I love about this series. There’s so many layers and it’s not always just black and white. I see both sides here. Amazing series!!
I cried in this scene 😭 this is actually sad
How can Celia do this?!
why have I not realized how weird their wigs look
I remember feeling bad for Mel when I watched that lol
This part of the movie makes me cry😢
I did not feel bad for her she lied to all her friends and then had the audacity to have a musical number😂
I felt bad for uma putting trust into someone only to find out they were never there for you is crazy
Really it was her fault because she didn't tell them.
She done what was right for her kingdom ❤❤❤ we love you Mal
