I relate to this song. These lyrics. I grew up with very strict religious grandparents. My grandfather who was a preacher and suffered from ptsd from fighting for this country terrorized the family most of my life. Screaming, cursing, pulling guns on family members and threatening the life of them. I was the smallest child in the home restricted from being with friends outside the home and having a normal teenage life. Papa wont you let me out echoed in my soul for many years living under his roof. Thank you for this song!
Maria is so unique. Her vocals fascinate me, she does so many different things with her voice that I can't keep track. It's not just the variety of styles, but the emotions she conveys as well. I find it hard to explain.
Out of all the female screamers Maria is the most musical one and frequently uses her head voice as a contrast to her screams. Rage is not the only emotion she conveys. She is a fry scream specialist, her fry scream is rich with overtones (tonally she sounds much better than Tatiana or Alissa who also use fry screaming a lot) and although her regular singing range is fairly limited she's known to hit an A6 (!) with her fry scream. I would say she is like a more versatile turbocharged version of Taylor Momsen (who also has fairly limited range). They differ from Lzzy who has a very wide singing range and relies more on heavy distortion power belting.
The way she experiments with her voice has more than once reminded me of Serj Tankian. Rapping, singing and screaming in a variety of distinct voices and nailing it every time. I love vocalists who aren't afraid to try new things.
I just met metal at the age of 53, and I think I got here just in time. This song fits where I find myself at this point in my journey, speaks to me on many levels. Well done Miss and thanks so much for sharing.

It wasn't until earlier this year that I even heard of this band, when I attended a Halestorm concert in San Francisco where they were going with New Year's Day and In This Moment. Immediately hooked, fell in love with the stuff they do, especially when they did this song live. Absolute no-holds-barred passionate vented aggression and badass lyrics, instrumentals, and vocals.

I am back in town this moment! I didn't listen to music by women for 20 years ..cause of my gest friend being murdered. It reminded me of who she could have been. Weird how grief presents itself. I use this song as a motivator to keep fighting my addiction, as weird as that sounds. I've been clean for almost 8 years now, but it gets hard sometimes. Let me explain: the pig and the wolf..the pig is the embodiment of the addiction, and the wolf is my actual normal self (totally sober, nothing inhibiting me). The pig wants to keep the real me locked up in this cage deep down and keeping me from dominating my goals in life and it wants to allow the addiction to roam free. But this wolf isn't letting that happen. Sounds cheesy/corny af tho, eh? Yeah. I know. It helps a whole lot though.

I relate to this song. These lyrics. I grew up with very strict religious grandparents. My grandfather who was a preacher and suffered from ptsd from fighting for this country terrorized the family most of my life. Screaming, cursing, pulling guns on family members and threatening the life of them. I was the smallest child in the home restricted from being with friends outside the home and having a normal teenage life. Papa wont you let me out echoed in my soul for many years living under his roof. Thank you for this song!

Maria is so unique. Her vocals fascinate me, she does so many different things with her voice that I can't keep track. It's not just the variety of styles, but the emotions she conveys as well. I find it hard to explain.
She conveys rage lol But yes she's amazing.
Out of all the female screamers Maria is the most musical one and frequently uses her head voice as a contrast to her screams. Rage is not the only emotion she conveys. She is a fry scream specialist, her fry scream is rich with overtones (tonally she sounds much better than Tatiana or Alissa who also use fry screaming a lot) and although her regular singing range is fairly limited she's known to hit an A6 (!) with her fry scream. I would say she is like a more versatile turbocharged version of Taylor Momsen (who also has fairly limited range). They differ from Lzzy who has a very wide singing range and relies more on heavy distortion power belting.

The way she experiments with her voice has more than once reminded me of Serj Tankian. Rapping, singing and screaming in a variety of distinct voices and nailing it every time. I love vocalists who aren't afraid to try new things.

It wasn't until earlier this year that I even heard of this band, when I attended a Halestorm concert in San Francisco where they were going with New Year's Day and In This Moment. Immediately hooked, fell in love with the stuff they do, especially when they did this song live. Absolute no-holds-barred passionate vented aggression and badass lyrics, instrumentals, and vocals.
This was probably so much fun to film. My favorite part is when she screams, " Pig Pig!".

I am back in town this moment! I didn't listen to music by women for 20 years ..cause of my gest friend being murdered. It reminded me of who she could have been. Weird how grief presents itself. Lol, but this band broke that for me. I heard where and ...I'm all in. Many female artists have been discovered thanks to this band. Maria has my heart in her throat screaming to my head!

I use this song as a motivator to keep fighting my addiction, as weird as that sounds. I've been clean for almost 8 years now, but it gets hard sometimes. Let me explain: the pig and the wolf..the pig is the embodiment of the addiction, and the wolf is my actual normal self (totally sober, nothing inhibiting me). The pig wants to keep the real me locked up in this cage deep down and keeping me from dominating my goals in life and it wants to allow the addiction to roam free. But this wolf isn't letting that happen. Sounds cheesy/corny af tho, eh?

@@shawnaldrich7868 Don't get me wrong. I love Halestorm, but they don't go as hard as In This Moment. Halestorm is more rock not necessarily metal in my opinion. My opinion could very well be wrong, as well.

You must listen to mainstream because there are tons of bands with female leads. Eluviete, Amaranthe, Epica, Delain, Nightwish, Arch Enemy, Butcher Babies, Jinjer, Lacuna Coil, Trees of Eternity/Swallow the Sun to name just a few off the top of my head.
