The Co Pilot 2nd Lt. Lyle Curtis was my 2nd cousin, whose home town area was Idaho Falls, Idaho. I was 7 years old when this tragic event took place. I was to young to understand the Terrible 2nd world war, but have read considerable of the events of many campaigns of that war. As poignant as this event was, there were thousands of stories just as Tragic and heroic as this. For all the Millions of lives that were lost and the families who lost their loved ones, my feelings of love, and sorrow go out to you. Your sacrifices, were monumental! I have visited many of the European countries, and through it all they have recovered, and life goes on. However; it seems that Wars never cease to plague this mortal life. Pray to God, that some day some way Peace will come---Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with ME----
Hi Neil...if you are ever in the UK try and visit the village of Eyam in Derbyshire. The village cordoned themselves off in 1665 to contain an outbreak of the Black Death. 267 men, women and children died...but the disease never left Eyam, saving thousands. It is an impressive place.
This man deserves an MBE for all of his dedication and hard work over the years. Please like and maybe something may happen as this would be the icing on the cake for him. Thank you.
@@PiperX1X excellent idea come on Sheffield Council get a petition to the Palace and make him a Freeman of the City as well ...BBC spend millions on PC films hardly anyone watches, a film about this story would with the right director/ actors could well be a Bafta/ Oscar Winner
Extreme Mega Respect for this Man!!! He was but a child, when he participated in this Drama, and was spared being killed when the crew ofthe bomber avoided crashing where he was-then has tended to the Memorial to these youngsters that died that day...Great Big Respect!!!!
Thank you for all your kind comments about Tony. My sister and I are friends of his after meeting him in the park, long before Dan did. If you want to know what has happened for him since the flypast, we have created a face book page for him search Tony Foulds and Mi Amigo. It’s been a whirlwind!!
Check out the star newspaper online the link is on there titled petition launched for Tony Foulds to receive MBE it takes you to direct.gov. I’m so bloody pleased!
I’ve emailed the mayor of Sheffield asking to put Tony’s name forward and possibly consider him for the freedom of the city. But now I think the only way to put him forward for an MBE or other honour is to go on the government page and enter his name and the reasons for the award/ honour and must be done by ourselves. This can be found at www.gov>honours. ( Nominate someone for an honour or award - gov.uk)
An amazing man who shows how good humanity can be. I am sure that his next wish would be for an end to all war in the world. We live on a tiny ball in an infinite universe but cannot live with ourselves. How could we ever hope to live with aliens?
Will certainly try Jeff, its bound to be on Breakfast News the following morning.. They did say it would happen weather permitting, so lets keep our fingers crossed for a good day...
Thanks David. Ok if your middle name is Wayne, I'LL be shocked my brother is David Wayne Robinson. And we did start out over there, it is A Great Sir Name. My great great grand father was a clipper ship Captain left your side in late 1800's. Small world.
Sorry Ted, Ive no middle name, I think Robinson is a very common name isnt it.. First time I met a friend of mine, he was shocked, because his late brother was called David Robinson.....
what a fantastic man, we should never forget America saved our country twice in one century. they lost a lot of Young people in the defense of democracy .
