0:44 The Rock jumping from a building to another while knocking down a pillar with his shoulder is one of the best things I have seen as a human. Thank you for this stunt.
This is how you use the Rock. Not some slick, clean-shaven superstar who barely breaks a sweat and never gets a scrape on him, but a bulldozer of a man who will charge through walls, take everyone with him, and be the only one left standing.
The whip scene was so boss. It felt so much like a final boss moment. Becks was already worn out from single handedly taking out a whole damn squad and now he's faced with 3 guys with whips that are ready to triple team him and if he gets hit full force 4 maybe 6 times in the face then he's done for. Agility, durability as well as offense is crucial with every passing whip that whips by. Added to that, the blades that came out from the whip for close range attacks were pretty awesome and a nice touch. VERY well done scene. Also, the soundtrack behind that scene was pretty damn good. Made it feel even more like a dire situation.
Love how the Rock just react to the whip-men approaching just shaking his head and saying "Great". Like he is too badass to say something like "oh, f**k".
I swear Walken must have a demand in his contract that he gets to say "WHOA/WOW" in his roles cuz he does in every single one of em and I love it everytime 😊😊😊...
The Rock in this movie gets thrown around, beaten, injured, tired, and that actually makes badass scenes more awesome. Nowadays, he plays an unbeatable Superman.
I remember when he was the villain in 007’s “A View to a Kill”. The movie didn’t get the best reviews (comparing it to other Bond movies and Roger Moore’s campiness was getting old), but he’s always been on my top 5 list of Bond villains. Walkens best work to me is him playing the bad guy especially with that voice and laugh of his 😂.
That is where i first fell in love with him when i was 5. My grandma was gushing about how handsome Roger moore was, meanwhile im watching walken and having feelings i didnt understand lol
*MY GOD!* How I remember watching that whip fight scene scene with my mum at the cinema. Just now looking back *how* boss and awesome it actually was. 😍😁
One of the issues with this scene is how everyone waves The Gato around like it's made out of styrofoam. If The Gato is made from solid gold, then it would weigh as much or more than a bowling ball, 15-18 pounds.
As much as a bowling ball? 15-18 pounds? A standard gold bar weighs around 30 pounds. While the Gato appears to be slimmer than a gold bar, is also appears to be longer so I'd imagine it would weigh around the same. Regardless, I agree with your point that people shouldn't be able to carry it around as easily as they do throughout the movie.
Bruh the real issue with this scene is that The Rock (Beck) didn't get his face split open when they hit him with the whip in his face at 1.40. In real life, he would of been done
I know it's movie magic, but the pistol hit would've gone for the head if you look at it... Actually, it would be a complete whiff! But let's just accept this... One hand DMR rifle is hard.
As much as I love this movie, the fact that the whip guys had guns makes their fight scene so incredibly dumb. Why approach Beck with your whips instead of just shooting him while he was on the ground? Two of the whip guys wouldn't have even died if they didn't have guns.
I love christopher walken. But does anyone else feel like the movie makers cheated his character at the end? Like he was all badass and sinister and shot people, and then was brave enough to go out to confront Dwaynes character head on. Then all that happened was he got his gun shot out of his hand and gave up.
bricks in this movie have really weird properties. Like when bullets don't pass through bricks. but the rock does. never the less... it's a good movie :) #0:45. it's great in terms of stunts, but, I don't care who you are, if you fly into a row of bricks 2by2 with mortar between them, you're gonna break. maybe the bricks too. but the human body... will just break. also that stunt with the flying in the the tree. it looks awesum. but any man would just break. break bones. break backbone. break organs. break neck. just plain break.
I actually do appreciate your eye (anyone's, for that matter) for the real world consequences. I think those sorts of things are important to keep in mind, even if they're ultimately discarded from a film for "entertainment value". To offer a neutral counterpoint, I really appreciate how real they made it all look and feel. So much these days, and even back then, could've been created digitally for a sterile, weightless experience. I think it was Peter Jackson talking about miniatures who said a crumbling stone tower could absolutely be created digitally, but you wouldn't get the dust, the shrapnel, and the randomness of countless real world elements interacting. There's nothing actually realistic about any of these action scenes - the Rock would've been out for a while with a swollen, blooded face after that opening club fight - but the way they crafted it all makes it believable. I like to differentiate between what's "realistic" (it looks and feels like it actually happened) and "real" (it can or can't actually happen).
@@ironcladnomad5639 I think this stunt was massively overshadowed by the one in one of the fast & furious movies when the rock keeps a helicopter in one hand, and himself and 3 cars in the other hand. I do appreciate an action movie, but I feel sometimes directors think they are doing cartoons not movies. Some are more exaggerated than Tom & Jerry or the Looney Toons. But whatever, I do not judge.

Somehow he knew the pillar wasn't steel reinforced.
For you that was an amazing stunt. For The Rock, it was Tuesday.
@@dri1811ya it was steel reinforced. That's what shattered and exploded into dust.
It would've been funny if the pillar was reinforced tho
@@GlenNewsome if it was steel reinforced he wouldn’t have been able to break through it..
Okay we need a Rundown 2 now.

Are you more thinking of John Cena?
Ah, back when the Rock would actually take damage in a fight lol.
"and here we have dwayne johnson, beating up a building...."
Christopher Walken makes for such a weird (and great) villain.
I almost thought that was john voight. They always confuse me.
Cornelius Bernard Hatcher that other dude that had the jeep was hella weird to
No one will argue that
Agreed especially his performance as Max Schreck on Batman Returns.
Best whip scene ever !
*Probably!* 1980's "Flash Gordon" had a pretty good one also.
