They actually make the very same joke about 'my arm hurts if I do this... then don't do it' in Voyager episode Author, Author and in both TNG and VOY it's the doctor who tells it... I guess it's the top medical joke of the 24th century:))
Pakleds actively look for technology to salvage so it makes sense that they picked up Lore . what doesn't make sense is why the Enterprise left him floating in space knowing he's a sentient being , they didn't bother to pick him up safely and put him on trial
One minor thing: when Beverly says "They are brothers, Data. BROTHERS FORGIVE.", Picard has a complicated facial expression - in the previous episode (4x2), Picard just made up with his elder brother from their bad relationship for a long time. He might have a special feeling to those words at that moment. Unfortunately the screen did not make a close up on it and I think most of the audience just missed it.
7:02 Lore Beams out: the particle effect is different than any transporter we’ve seen before-so I assumed when I first watched it that Lore had disintegrated himself --committed suicide. After everything he had done-what a chilling ending (and obviously wrong)!
I always enjoy watching Spiner play very different versions of himself. I liked the ep and was left wanting to see more of the 3 of them interacting. It is hilarious that they never suspect Data of malfunctioning until it's too late. Given his consistency, they should be more alarmed if he diverges than if anyone else did.
Leonard Nimoy said that playing Spock led to him experiencing depression due to the restricted emotions he could perform. I wonder if Spiner's over-acting when not playing Data is taking advantage of opportunities to portray more emotion more blatantly. Maybe it was a kind of release valve for him?
I have to disagree, this episode is better then Datalore evn though I like that episode. It gives us a deper view into the inner workings of Lore. How all the rejection from the colinist to Soong himself made him into the android he is today. He is not just evil for evil's sake.
Whichever adult allowed kids to play unsupervised near deadly parasites was far more irresponsible than the boy who played a dumb prank. Why is everybody in Starfleet such a terrible parent? 🤣
Lore just left at the end of the episode. More backstory on Dr. Soong was very much needed. The two kid brothers needed more development as well. Overall I thought the lesson about family once again was great I'd give this episode a B.
It works occasionally, but not when it's this thick. They should have done something minimal and played it off as "I've had a skin treatment on Risa" or somesuch.
Just say you hate Data 😭😭 this poor robot is getting roasted on every episode. Is it justified? Yes! But Some of us like the goofy carboard cut out of a character
This is a really great episode. You guys really hate Data. I would stop watching TNG, he's one of the main characters. Also Datalore is a horrible episode.
Wow, I'm pretty surprised at how high these scores were, particularly how low the scores were for some of the good episodes in the past. I think this could easily be the weakest episode of the season. I'd give it no more than a D+, and probably closer to a D.
Lore's reaction to Dr. Soong saying he was dying was fantastic. He seemed genuinely heartbroken.
Aaaand then he murdered him.
Binging these; so much work for so few views. You guys deserve a wider audience.
Lol me too, and I agree 👍
Absolutely. If I ever strike it rich these guys are getting a million each.

Thanks for the warning.
I don't know why -- maybe because it's Patrick Stewart's voice -- I love hearing Data rattle off the lockout code as Picard.
Rikers reactions to things were always so goofy for a man who's supposed to be suave and confident
Pakleds actively look for technology to salvage so it makes sense that they picked up Lore . what doesn't make sense is why the Enterprise left him floating in space knowing he's a sentient being , they didn't bother to pick him up safely and put him on trial
I suspect the Packleds didn’t profit at all during their encounter with Lore.
Good point.
@@bfdidc6604 Yeah, those Pakleds are definitely dead or have been sold into slavery.
I've been sort of binging these but today's a good day to watch all of them
If spiner didnt play those three characters, Jeffrey Coombs would be playing every single other character.

Data taking over the enterprise is pretty bad ass.
Riker's offscreen "great" is dripping with so much sarcasm
Who didn't see Lore posing as Data. It happens in every show where there are doppleganger androids.
7:02 Lore Beams out: the particle effect is different than any transporter we’ve seen before-so I assumed when I first watched it that Lore had disintegrated himself --committed suicide. After everything he had done-what a chilling ending (and obviously wrong)!
THE MOST secure Secuty code EVER!

this episode is datas turn for his own "family" episode, after picard, worf, and wesley had one

A flawless and wonderful episode. A+
Whichever adult allowed kids to play unsupervised near deadly parasites was far more irresponsible than the boy who played a dumb prank. Why is everybody in Starfleet such a terrible parent? 🤣
Average?! Talk about not being able to see the forest for the trees!
(I'll see myself out now.)
Go eat a cove palm.
I will point out that they know where Data's off switch is at this point. (though admittedly, it might be hard to get there)
Totally disagree. B+ to A-. Much better than DataLore
The soon dynasty
Lore being picked up by the Pakled may end up being a plot point in Lower Decks, I'm gonna guess. I'm coming back if I turn out to be right.
My grandfather used to make that same doctor joke all the goddamn time.
5:29 That was hilarious
So Dr. Soong's return home program could have gone off while Data was piloting a ship in a dangerous situation, and killed everyone.

Why would Data need to commandeer the Enterprise? Why not just take a shuttle ...
Oh yeah! I've watched like a hundred of these and somehow this is my first Lore episode
Soong to Lore: and I will try... to fix you.
Yeah the old man makeup never works in any show.
It works occasionally, but not when it's this thick. They should have done something minimal and played it off as "I've had a skin treatment on Risa" or somesuch.
This episode is forgivable. There were two pairs of gravity boots...err brothers.

Their points are valid though
Excellent
A C grade. Agree with the lack of backstory/character of Suhn and Lore.

Definitely Average....
AND Surprise! It’s Lore!
I would’ve preferred more haywire Data and less other story.
I'm sure I'm in the minority but I can't stand when Brent Spiner plays anyone other than Data. He overacts and is so annoying
I understand and disagree
