- As India commemorates 20 years of the Kargil war in which it successfully drove away Pakistani intruders, the war was quite a learning experience for the Indian troops. Coordination between the Army and the Air Force could have been a lot better and the use of laser-designation systems could have helped pinpoint enemy targets better, as Air Marshal R Nambiar, who was a Wing Commander then, told SNI’s Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale in this interview.

I used to think what if Indian army navy ir Airforce Win war or execute their plan like Us Airforce did in syria Iraq 1991 and 2003 and all over the world... They never talk or said much about it but when indian Did a little bombing or some strike or anything It was like dropping Nuclear bomb or something sometime i just find funny and laugh soo hard .. and the funny part is Comparing Rafel to 5th gn fighter is too much yes we were proud having Rafel one of the best fighter but 5th gn fighter are called 5thgn for a reason....it is like Comparing maruti 800 to BMW or AUDI top line series
Kargil war is Pakistan military success as pak army grabbed India on her neck but it is Indian diplomatic and political success as the Indian begged america to play the role of mediator and pak army was in the dominant position on the ridges of kargil and the tiger hill by aiming and targeting the Indian supply road to leh ladakh.

Because due to corrupt practices of our previous govts.in defence acquisition procurements. #Viilys jeep scam in 1948/49, bofors gun deal, Hdw submarine , westland helicopters etc..and nation is suffering and forces are forced to fly vintage planes and other equipment in the face of modern weapons being used by our adversaries. Our political system must introspect and tendor apology to forces / nation in particular and devise a robust and transparent policy for defence acquisition without any further delay...

Was it Nachiketas tactical error to fire a gun at that height rater than Stinger missile that cost the plane.
Nichiketa was not downed by any enemy missile etc . Infact he had a engine flame out due to gun gas ingestion which is caused due to absence of sufficient air intake by the engines while straffing on enemy positions . Hvr. Sqn.leade Ajay Ahuja flying mig 21 was hit by a stinger after he tried to descend and locate the Nichiketa.
Thank you so much for clarification. I correct myself that it is a technical issue not a tactical error. By and large court of enquiry reports are not in public domain so laymen like me falsely imagine from media versions.

Thanks I will do that. Many channels report on defence matters leaving many curious viewers unclear. Many a times a write to them. Discourteous, I feel, they never bother to respond. Perhaps they feel they are the ultimate knowledge personified. I can say as far as I am concerned I am a civilian can discus military and strategic issues pros and cons that happened from WW 2. He is same officer who was in charge of western air Command, on 27 Feb 2019. When PAF shot down two IAF fighter jets... Then in punishment this was immediately removed from post & transferred...
