I personally prefer Troy Baker, he gives a nice calmness to Espio's voice and allows him to stand out from Shadow's current voice. It especially gives him that much needed personality to allow him to be different from the rest of the Sonic Team Cast
Sure it stands out from Kirk Thornton’s Shadow, but it in general? Nah. Troy sounds too monotone and Shadow-like that it’s easy to understand why people think he’s more cut out for Shadow. Also I think Bill Corkery and David Wills have that much more needed “personality” in their takes that make them different from the rest of the cast of characters. I don’t think Troy is bad, but I think he sounds more fit for Shadow, even if him voicing Shadow is a generic idea. But to each their own, I guess.
Bill Corkery is the best imo. How could you deny the epicness of Espio’s first voice? Though, I like the rest of them, even Troy Baker despite him having a completely different approach on Espio than the others.
@@devmeit I don't really know much about the Resident Evil stuff cuz I mostly know him from Minecraft story mode, but I did see that he voiced Leon in about 4 Resident Evil games
Aw man, i didn't know they gave him a hackey "proper white guy" voice. In the 90s i always imagined Espio to be a Latino. Boo I'm pretending that this isn't canon
Bill is my favorite. He sounds the coolest. It’s a shame he didn’t voice him long. David Wills is a very close 2nd with Sonic Rivals 2 being his peak performance. Matthew Mercer did pretty good too, he sounds more like a mix of Bill Corkery and Troy Baker, so I like it. Troy is okay but I honestly think he’s the weakest of all 4. He’s still good, though.
Matthew Mercer is the best one. I feel like Bill Corkery made him sound like a chain smoker which I think is a little too deep for a 16 year old ninja, David Wills wasn’t really an improvement over that, and then Troy baker did something so far off that it took away the integrity. Matthew Mercer for obvious reasons makes Espio sound like Chrom, and I think that’s the best direction for Espio to have gone.
You mean Bill Corkery, not William Corkery, lol. William voiced Tails in Heroes. Also a chain smoker? Bill made Espio sound older and more mature, but he sounds more badass and cool. Besides his gruff gives him more variation in tone. If Espio was older, it’d work perfectly. David Wills actually WAS an improvement off of that, he made him sound less gruff but still retained some of it to make Espio sound tough, but he sounded more calm, except he lost that mysterious tone that Bill had. For Troy, I’d agree, since he sounded too different from the others. He’s not bad, and he did bring back Bill’s mysterious tone, but he sounds too monotone and doesn’t have that much energy or variation in tone that Bill and David had. That said Troy sounds the most fitting for Espio’s age. Matt sounds similar to Troy except more disciplined and tough, and is more of a mix of Bill and Troy than David was. Overall I’d say Bill was the best for his toughness and variation in tone with David being second, so I’d have to disagree. But to each their own, I guess.
Thanks for reminding me. I fixed that error. I meant to say Bill Corkery. I’m sure you can see why I’d get them mixed up provided that Bill is a shortened form of William. But anyway one thing I will say is that I personally think that if Bill Corkery landed the role of Big the Cat, he could’ve nailed that one as well.
I like Matthew and Troy's approach, very stoic and noble sounding which is nice compared to the other chaotix.

The fact that his voiced is sounded like from the movie lego dc justice league batman movie
@@Ronic101Or Erron Black from MKX

I absolutely agree!
I agree, though I like Matthew Mercer’s a bit more then Troy
Would have loved to see Troy as Espio again. He gives off a subtle Batman-esque tone, which he also voiced
I really like all of them, but I grew up with David Wills. His portrayal in StH 05 is the best!
i was surprised that none of the other comments like his voice 😅
I think he did his best in Sonic Rivals 2.
Same
I never actually heard him speak before. All I knew is he’s shy. Not silver shy but more extroverted shadow
Now I can say that Sonic made a crossover with Far Cry.
or Fire Emblem and Mortal Kombat
Honestly all of his voices are good imo
I hear Troy Baker, I think Yuri Lowell.
WAIT TROY BAKER WAS ESPIO??? 😳
Yeah Troy Baker(LEGO batmans VA) *and* Matthew Mercer(Hit in the English dub of DBS) *both* voiced him, *I WAS MINDBLOWN*
Troy Baker was also Erron Black from Mortal Kombat X and 11, and Matt Mercer was Chrom from Fire Emblem Awakening
He also known as Joel’s face model in The Last Of Us game series
Fun fact, Roger and Troy voiced Batman and Joker, respectively (although Troy also voiced Batman) in Batman: Arkham Origins
Funny thing is both Troy and Matt voiced Kanji from Persona 4
Bill Corkery is the best imo. How could you deny the epicness of Espio’s first voice? Though, I like the rest of them, even Troy Baker despite him having a completely different approach on Espio than the others.
in 2017 he sound like leon kennedy 😭😭😭
and sort of like Chrom from FE Awakening
Maybe because he also voices Leon 👀
@@the_kitcats WAIT WHAT SERIOUSLY??????????

Game grumps needs to voice espio next. The French/spanish accent was absolute perfection.
Fyi: Matthew Mercer is the same voice actor of Leon S Kennedy in RE6
All his voices work tbh
Cool that matthew voices hit and espio
I live David Wills the most, no explanaition needed i just think it fits the best
bill corkey is the only right one
How long is the bee's stinger? (Just curious)

1. Matthew Mercer
2. Troy Baker
3. David Wills/Bill Corkery(tie)
What is that picture of Matt?
Troy baker and Matthew Mercer david wills
Bill was the best imo.
Anyone else think Roger Craig Smith would be a killer espio
Yeah
No. His voice isn’t deep enough
@@darkx6869 he did a voice for a similar charecter and he was perfect
@@darkx6869Roger is great at doing deep voices though, he’s voiced batman and enzio
Probably, but, you know... he's Sonic.
