Now that's really cold when air in a vacuum will freeze! Im glad it wasn't too costly to repair and that it happened whne you were not in a panic stop.

Humid air goes from the hot engine to the relatively cold booster, condensation freezes. Bummer but glad you got it worked out. Kinda scary too!

Ive got an 04 (new body style super crew lariat) and recently ran upon an odd brake problem that has me (an shops in the area...) stumped. My truck has been running crappy lately (plugs and coils) but few weeks ago it got extremely bad and a noticed a hiss from the engine bay at the brake booster (this scared me as the truck was running extremely crappy and I was along way from home). after fiddling with the hose it seems like it just wasnt sealing good around where it meets the brake booster. So eventually got it running better and stopped the hissing. Now, in mind that before this the brakes on the truck never seemed quite right but they worked ok. I would have to put the pedal half way to the floor before any brake pressure was applied before and the pedal was virtually impossible to push any further than 3/4ths of the way down. Well after fixing that bad seal around where it met the brake booster (again nothing major done, just fiddled with it until it sealed good and stopped hissing) Ive come across and odd occurance. The brake pedal now goes to the floor with almost no effort. And brake pressure is constantly applied to the brakes (not much but some) when im not pressing the pedal causing my brakes to stay engaged slightly. Also now I only have to push the pedal only about a 10th of the way down to apply alot of brake pressure. This is my guess but I think it might be getting too much of a vaccum some how now? Anybody have any ideas? Realllllly need to get this sorted before a beach trip after graduation! I plan on testing the coils and plugs (without removing the plugs however) tomorrow and seeing what I find with that. May fiddle with that same vaccum line aswell and see what I end up with. My job only requires me to work 1 day a week so starting tommorow (had work today, monday) Im gonna dive in and see what I can get done before this long trip. I LOVE everything about this truck. The power (when it had it.. tranny has been giving me issues aswell) the handling (I swear this thing takes turns like a sports car in full seriousness!) The ground clearance (theres a curb there? ehh who cares ill make my own exit lol) The size (4 doors) The fact that during a bad winter storm in Virginia (we got a foot which is ALOT for us way more than normal) and the truck drove in it like it wasnt even there! The over all size (being bigger that most other vehicles on the road is a plus when you live in a town where everyone got their licenses out of cereal boxes) The power to weight ratio (Pulled tree out from under a friends foundation, the roots where really in there to the extent that it removed a good portion of the foundation with it! So technically this truck and literally move a house lol!) Its a pretty good looking truck, chicks dig it haha. And its brutal tankness (hit a deer at 55mph head on came out with a slight dent in the bumper, had my tire slashed by jealous neighbors 2 months after I got the truck and it blew out going down the road causing me to MURDER a guard rail. Bent the bumper in a bit, just pulled it out slapped on the space and kept truckin) Its reliability (yes I know ive listed a couple issues but the truck has never quit on me and never has left me stranded) The only thing I hate is the crazy car payment, crazy insurance, and terrible 13mpg... Once this thing is paid off in 2 more years I can get rid of 2 of the 3 things I dislike.

That one was new to me; air brake is common to freeze but vacuum?

I live in Michigan (gets pretty cold) and have 1999 F150 since 2001. Never experienced that. I was curious where you live and how cold is "Extreme Cold" to experience this.
Thanks for the video...I still own that truck but I have a 2012 Silverado also. I use that F150 to run around the woods :)

my truck same as this one but you can press the brakes all the way down some said brake booster some said master cylinder and others say cylinders and u can press it down on or off

If your pedal goes all the way to the floor without the car running, you should first check the brake fluid level and checks for leaks on all 4 callipers and possible leaks in brake lines, if no leaks are found and fluid level stays good, I wouls say master cylinder is shot. But this is if the car worked fine and this just happende, if you have done any work on the car it could be something else, air in system etc. to test the brake booster apply pedeal pressure before starting the car and when you hold pressure on the pedal and start the car, pedal should sink in a bit before holding strong againg, but if you can push the pedal to the floor without engine running you either have a leak or a bad master cylinder, provided you have not worked on anything introducing air in system.

What a waste of time. You could have put "ice" in the title to save most people the trouble of watching it.
