Very useful. The magnifying glas was awesome assesory. To bad it didn't light the fire, that would save alot of energy and time on a sunny day. What about placing multiple magnifyers in a row? Like 5 pieces, it would increase magnification power to 10x capacity, you could also make a tripod to remove wobblyness. Would it light a fire then? Maybe.
The focal spot of such a lens just isn't small enough for this to work, even if it didn't wobble. To light something on fire, I would need to collect more light, so the lens would have to have a larger diameter, which isn't possible using just water. I have seen videos of people successfully starting fires with ice lenses, though.
@@MakeItPrimitive I tried researching how to increase the water tension hehe. Seems water has the best surface tension around. Yeah, the ice idea is cool and useful. Especially during January, February.
Just a reminder: As always, this is a silent video with subtitles. Please turn on the video captions for my notes and comments.
YOU'RE make it primitive? I've seen you on the Primitive Technology subreddit. Great stuff
Thanks! Yup, that's me. My username on Reddit is different for historical reasons.
Damn......... mind blown when you whipped up that magnifying lens!!!
Was about to ask if this lens could've started a fire but you answered it as I was writing! Very nice video, I enjoyed it very much, as always...
I can't fathom how ingenious those items are; they are amazing!
This magnifying lens is just soooo amazing! and with all the ticks in the garden I guess I will try to make your tick remover. love your channel!
Very cool - let me know whether it worked for you! :-)
This is Mad, but in a most excellent way! Just so damn clever! Wow.
You have entered the new stone age of mankind.
stone age -> bronze age -> iron age -> age of technology -> the new stone age
I wonder if spider webbing could be used to increase the lens size or perhaps a nice and clear Pine Resin could be melted into a lens shape?
Great job
Wonderful video as always

I wonder if spider webbing could be used to support the water allowing for an increased lens size?
