      It's the same thing. The NFL didn't allow Kaperinick to protest because it hurt the bottom line, the NBA isn't letting their fans protest because it hurts their bottom line. The Chinese government isn't the reason the NBA isn't allowing protest, it's the NBA's fear of losing money.

      @angielee7069 4 роки тому +67

      @@continualvariability3345 given a second thought, comparing HAWAII to HK is not that accurate. Try to understand this way, HK was lent to UK for 99yrs by a unequal treaty in history which was humiliation to the country. Imagine if you lend one of your room to others by force, and your son lived in that room was ruled by those people for a long time. Finally one day you got them back, but the son and the others want to claim your room as their own which actually is your property. This is totally unacceptable. Not only this was yours from the beginning, but also you've been bearing the humiliation for this long time. So in order to let western people to understand how important this is to China, and how hurt to Chinese people'feeling, people like to compare as racism in US to get mutual understanding. This is just the bottom line to China.

    • @continualvariability3345
      @continualvariability3345 4 роки тому +7

      @@angielee7069 actually your example given is also inaccurate cause the ccp doesn't represent China as a whole cause it might well be just Taiwans territory since technically HK is China but doesn't adhere to the communist China's ways but also still China because of the same territory and origins but they have different economic systems and type of government. So a more accurate representation would be if the father(imperial China) fought for it's yard but has to agree lending some of his land then he died and was then replaced by his son(communist China)which changed the yard enough to be undesirable to others but can be tolerated as long as it's not crossing the boundaries of ahem "maybe" human rights. The new son(Hong kong) tried to be democratic but was threatened by the main son(communist China) under the British(complicated step father) rule and was then handed over under the condition,China(main son) would not interfere except for diplomacy and military until the agreement ends after which it HK(new son) is officially part of the main sons household. At first main son(communist China) respected and gave it's brother space BUUUUUUT main son died leaving his inheritor who has his father's ways but different views, he slowly forced his uncle to change his ways by starting from the inside,he gave his uncle the same food(or drugs or whatever)which outraged the uncle's stomach and ran to the bathroom BUUUT then NANI!!! The bathroom was roofless(or something)so he brought his umbrella and then did his call.(the last parts are jokes,I kinda got invested into it and forgot the seriousness of the situation but it should send the message through).

He was served with many foods and fruits, including watermelon. Dwayne was upset and offended. The host have no idea why.

They get mad because they know and see many so-called protesters are threating tourists, attack random walking people and violently destroying city facilities. I tried to post videos showing evidence but each time youtube secretly deleted my posts and replies of video links just because they are not anti-China...Those videos show how hundreds of masked mobs set fires burning subway stations and rob and destroy street stores, bullying and yelling to older people who try to stop them and clean the streets for transportation. They blocked the airport and many foreigner tourists cry because of threatening. Any people who can critically think would be upset if freedom of speech is actually represented by double standards. If UA-cam and its owners can control what content they like to feed ordinary western people, Chinese people can quit business with the NBA. This is what called freedom.

    As someone who has lived in both the U.S. and China, I feel like I'm in a unique position to address several things. What I'm trying to do is to help facilitate the mutual understanding between China and the U.S. I think this unfortunate event took place because of the lack of mutual understanding about the history of China and the U.S. My comment does not express any of my political views at all I’m just here to help: NBA losing Chinese market due to Daryl Morey’s comment is like Donald Sterling losing the clippers due to his racial remarks. The level of sensitivity of race in the U.S. is the same as separatism in China. Supporting the HK movement which the Chinese government is labeling as separatist movement is like calling African Americans the N word. History of China shows that when separatism rises, bloodshed will follow. Millions of people throughout the thousands years of history in China lost their lives because of separatism, especially during the colonialism and imperial Japanese occupation eras. History of the U.S. shows that racial issue will always result in death and destruction, just like the civil war, Jim crow era south, Japanese internment, sacrifices during the Civil Rights movements, Los Angeles riots, the list goes on. I am in no way saying which value has a higher moral ground because I don't think anyone is in the position to make such comparison. What I am trying to say is before you make a comment, you need to take into consideration of how that comment will affect others, especially if you are an executive of an NBA basketball team that has a large fan base in China. I don't see the U.S. cutting business ties with Saudi Arabia when they murdered the dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi? Why didn't the people supporting Daryl Morey stand for democracy, justice and freedom of expression and stop importing oil from Saudi Arabia? As righteous as they are, I would imagine they would stop driving cars and stop taking airplane trips to stand for justice. But no, they didn't do it, because they are self-interested. Donald Sterling made a private comment and he was banned from the NBA and forced to sell his property, where was his freedom of expression? Kaepernick is banned from the NFL for expressing his belief. Where was his freedom of expression? When your comment will impact a different culture or country than your own, you better know damn well about that culture before making a sensitive comment. I don't see sports executives going around and commenting about the situation in the Middle East? Police Brutality in the U.S.? Japanese Killing the whales? Middle East monarchies and religious countries suppressing their people's freedom? A lot of people got issues with a lot of things, but that doesn't mean you can say whatever the hell you want to about issues that you know nothing about. My comment doesn't express my political views at all; I just want to facilitate the mutual understanding between two of the most important nations on this planet.

We know in America, racism is bad, you can't make racist comments no matter what freedom you have in speech. In China, separatism is regarded as bad as racism in America, you can't promote separatism in China .So deep in Chinese people's mind, a united country is political correctness. Just trying to let more people understand that your political correctness is not the same as it is in other countries.Let's apply the same logic. @@flyingbirdskingcloud2908 I appreciate that you took the time to reply to me, thank you. Some of the things you're talking about aren't things that I brought up, but I'm sure there's meaning in discussing them. I actually haven't forgotten about Donald Sterling (although I don't know how relevant he is to this topic). Technically, you are allowed to make racist comments under freedom of speech, but other people and companies are free to separate themselves from you, since overt racism is widely (and correctly, I think) considered to be a bad thing.
      To be clear I don't think a united China is a terrible thing in itself. I also don't think that China is some kind of evil regime, but there are definitely a lot of things the Chinese government does that I strongly disagree with. I live in the United States, and believe it or not I also have a lot of problems with how the US government operates. (For an example that involves China, I think Trump's trade war with China is a stupid and harmful idea.)
      Would I be offended by a Chinese company advocating separatism in the US? That depends. If I agreed that in the current circumstances people would be better off separate from the United States then I wouldn't be offended at all, and if I thought that separatism was a bad idea then I would maybe be a little offended, but I wouldn't think that those ideas should be silenced. Overall I care much more about whether the people are living healthy and happy lives than I do about a unified USA.
      I don't think that violence is a good way of causing social change, but given my intense disagreement with some of the Chinese government's policies, I think it's at least understandable that people want to be independent to some extent. And I definitely don't think that trying to squash those ideas by force is a good idea. The issue can't be solved for good unless everyone is allowed to express their ideas freely and discuss together what the best solution might be.
      To be doubly clear, I do not hate China or Chinese people, and I don't have any grudge against them. One of my goals is to learn the Chinese language, and I love learning about Chinese art and philosophy. (Usually more so than their Western counterparts XD) My disagreements with the Chinese government and with my own US government are the result of wanting everyone in China, the US, and all over the world to live happily and healthily. Maybe my ideas are wrong, but I hope you see that I'm at least genuinely trying to find a good way for us all to live, and that I am not motivated by some kind of hatred of China.

Believe me I share it.
      I absolutely agree that the US has made many mistakes and done terrible things, and that we should definitely be doing what we can to fix them, but other countries are also making mistakes, sometimes serious ones, and I think that they should be called on this, even be people in places with their own problems. No person or nation is perfect after all.

    When they say "fight for freedom", some of them are indeed fighting with gasoline bombs and wearing anti-poison masks. That is Hong Kong, a modern city, unlike some other places suffering wars. Those behaviors are far beyond a peaceful protest.
    Personally, I support democracy in Hong Kong, because I believe it will benefit both Hong Kong and mainland China. However, I've seen a lot of revolutions aiming for democracy but only bringing chaos in the past 10 years. People need to sit down, talk, and find a way out. Not ruining a modern beautiful city.
