Holly Powell Mrs. Holly, Hay.. my name Ilyas. I’m from Indonesia.. i’m realy interested to be come aktor. Can i to join casting audition in Hollywood movie or theater..? Can you tell me how can i make it..? Thanks..
Holly Powell Do I have to enter artist management or learn acting classes or something ...? because I have also taken acting classes here and I am a graduate of the Indonesian art institute, and basicly a theater.. can you tell me how..? Please give some information.. 🙏
I’m always that lonely, shy person in the corner, but on the stage I can be somebody else and that makes me feel really confident. It’s so fun to be a different person just for a little while and live another person’s life for that time.
There's really no reason to be nervous. It should be treated like an interview, because that's what it is. They're looking to make sure you're the right person to fill the role that you applied for, same as management at a company. The worst they will do is say no. If you don't get the part, it's not the end of the world. Keep your head high knowing that you did your best, and keep applying for other roles. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. The more you do audition, the more you'll get used to how it works and the more confident you will become. For those who have seen Captain America: The First Avenger, remember how nervous he was when he first read his lines to the troops in that play? And then a few minutes later when it was made obvious that it was a passage of time how confident he had become? The best thing you can do for yourself is keep doing it. If you're really that nervous, then do a roleplay audition with friends or family. That will help you increase in confidence.
My heartbeat started skyrocketing just looking at her acting nervous. Have my first audition in 2 days and this is really helpful! Thank you very much!
These videos are actually giving me a whole new level of confidence to start my acting career. I'm a people person and I'm huge on first impressions, so knowing that those interactions are so important before you even start the scene is really reassuring. Thank you for these videos! They're very helpful :)
I've always wanted to be actress but being shy and having stage fright has had a toll on me although now, I have signed up to auditions. This video is such an eye opener, I really enjoyed watching this - so many great tips!! With lots more inspiring videos like this I think I'll be ready!!
Firstly do theatre and take acting classes until your ready. Then get in contact with a photographer and get a headshot. Next contact a talent agency online or from reference and they'll take it from there. Remember dress neat and professional hair should be tidy and face clean!
Thank you! I saw one of those coaches telling people to enter the room in character, regardless of the character. I thought "That isn't going to end well most of the time.". It seems I was right...
I have always wanted to be actor I don't have much experience tho but I practice at home I live in Jamaica but I do have dream hopefully one day i might get lucky
Hi! It think it's great that you're practicing at home but don't wait to get lucky. It's not about that. Put yourself out there and try to get work. The world is not waiting for you but the world will notice you if you've got something to offer and you're also well prepared, you deliver quality every time and you're constant in evolving your craft. Success is the result of being great at something. Sometimes it might be a fortunate accident but it is never a goal. Hope you get to where you want to be!
Holly Powell do people have to pay to audition? About three months ago I signed up for an audition and as soon as the day after, the Nine9 Agency had called me back. I was very excited and we talked for about five minutes and I gave them a date(July). I then told my friend and mom about it and they both told me it's a scam. The Nine9 Agency called me back about a week ago so I just never answered. How do I find reliable agencies for a 16 year old like myself?
Hi Royale, where do you live? Let me know and then I can talk about steps to seeking out an agent. You should NEVER have to pay for an audition. If they ask you, then you know it is a scam.
Holly Powell thank you so much for a reply... I live in West Palm Beach, Florida. It is my biggest dream to become an actor 😢but everyday I am reminded by my friends I should choose something else because I am never going to make it 😔
It's a hard road, but you are young. I suggest you find a class to get into in your area. An on camera class is best if you can find it. Get a good picture taken that looks like you and brings out your personality. Research photographers in your area, don't have a friend take it. Your picture needs to be a professional head shot. Get a resume together. If you don't have a lot on there, studying is a big deal to an agent. Contact your Film Commission to find a list of Agencies in your area. Or Google agencies in your area. There are ones that specialize in teens, so focus on those. Send your picture and resume with a cover letter telling the agent how passionate you are about being an actor, and let them know what you have been doing, like taking a class. Address the letter to a specific agent, not a generalized letter, so do your homework. Have fun! Holly
Such great advice. This is why I think it’s important to go into the casting as prepared as possible, so you can walk into the room confidently and react truthfully. I’ve been using the Dialogmaster Pro rehearsal app to lock down my lines, then I don’t have to focus on them during my performance. I’ve rehearsed them so well that my focus is only on what the other characters are giving me to react to, whether it’s in the casting process or performing. It’s making the preparation process so much easier. It’s such a good feeling when you can walk into an audition confident, knowing you’re prepared 😊 Thanks for sharing this helpful advice, Holly. You are a gem ❤️
This video is Spot On!!! Fantastic. I am reopening my Acting Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico (USA) in a few months... (I'm supposed to be retired)... because I miss this, teaching students to be self-confident in every aspect... "Bravo"... Ballyhoo... I teach this exact same thing (goes for job interviews too). Holly explained this so well... Thank you so much for this video... "Break a Leg" (OH... thats my stage work too) LOL...

Thank you, Holly Powell! I have a background mostly in Theatre but just recently I've started my transition towards film/tv/voice work(also another dream of mine is to be the narrator for audio books). Currently I live in SC and my film classes are out of Ashville NC. I've watched all of your videos on here and am grateful for them. I'm very aware how new I am at this craft and I'm just ready to DIG IN and EXPLORE.
i’ve been going to acting classes since i was a toddler (i’m almost 15 now) and i’ve been in a lot of performances in local and far away theatres. acting has been in my heart since i was 3 i adore it, it makes me happy and i’m always finding an excuse to do it. whether that’s at home or at my classes. i want to make acting a career, but it’s never been about fame or fortune. it’s about doing something that makes me indescribably happy. i know it’s hard to make money out of it and money is important but i just love it too much to not try. so thank u for this video, i’m trying to educate myself on auditions more as i definitely want to try them

I did this on my last audition, They asked " Have you been watching "Walking into the audition room" I said "Noooooo" they responded " Now make us believe you"
I'm not an actor (yet), but a lot of this seems like common sense...at least to me. By the way, "fake it til you make it" really doesn't work in the end. People will catch on to the fakery. You need to have that natural confidence going in. If you don't and you fake it, you might win the battle, but definitely not the war.
something that will help overtime is acting classes, you are constantly being put on the spot which is terrifying at first but everyone is in the same boat so theres no embarrassment
6:12 I remember her from America's Next Top Model! I can't remember if she won or not but it was years ago when she had that awesome bob hair cut on the show! She was a fantastic model who made it far in the show.
Your advice is very helpful! I truly want to become and actresses, and so I have been looking up sites and stuff like that. I plan to use this if I get an audition. Thank You so, much Holly Powell!! 😊
ive been thinking of auditioning, i live in arizona & plan on going to Los Angeles California to audition for a movie but i don't know what id need for the audition, some say that you don't need an agency & others say you will, also something about headshots.
trisha paytas Hi Trisha, you definitely need a headshot and resume for an audition. Get a picture taken of yourself by a professional photographer, make sure the picture looks like you, not a glam shot, but one that brings out your personality. Get a resume together of any experience you have had, theater, classes, etc. if you have no real experience your resume should state what your goals are, and also any special skills you have like singing, dancing, sports, play an instrument, etc. If you are going to LA for a specific audition find out the name of the casting director on the specific project. Go to IMDB and type in the name of the project and look for the casting directors name and address. You can submit your picture and resume to the cd without an agent. Make sure you write a cover letter stating exactly what project you would like to audition for. I would advise not to go to LA without securing an actual audition unless it is an open call. It's very hard to get into an audition unless you have an appointment. I hope this helps, Holly
Thank you so much for this! I’ve always had a little spark in me that wanted to do acting, but now I feel like it is too late to start. I’m 16 and never fully had an acting experience other then working on costumes for my school plays. My friends think I should give it a try next year for our fall production, I’ll take this video and use it wisely. I have also been on the lookout for auditions around me just for fun, but maybe one day I’ll give it a go. Thank you!
At 16 you are just starting! Not too old! Auditioning for the school plays is the best idea, listen to your friends. That's how you start...one audition at a time. And remember, everyone has to start somewhere! Holly
Yes! Indeed! But, before an audition the butterflies can take over, and the most seasoned actors can get hit with a case of flutters. So focusing on something you do really well, that you are confident about... say singing or playing the guitar or painting,...helps trick the mind into the confidence state. Thereby Faking it!
don't be nervious.you guys have to be prepare mentality and be confident.and you gonna do everything well. I'm going to take classes to perform this year, wish me luck and good luck everyone.
mehak lodhi Hi Melaka, send your picture and resume with a cover letter to the Head of Casting at the CW. Her name is Lori Openden. You can find the address for the CW on IMDB or by Googling it. Also, send your picture and resume to the independent casting director on the specific show you are wanting to audition for. Perfect advise Alex! No logos on shirts! Solid color shirts that bring out your eyes and skin tone.
Holly Powell well done
I always break the ice by walking briskly into the room, looking at them and saying, "HI, MOFOS!"I'm not getting many call backs, though....
I've always wanted to be actress but being shy and having stage fright has had a toll on me although now, I have signed up to auditions. This video is such an eye opener, I really enjoyed watching this - so many great tips!! With lots more inspiring videos like this I think I'll be ready!!
So I am 14 and I don’t know how or where to find an agent or audition, I’m pretty much below the first step. Could someone help me
Firstly do theatre and take acting classes until your ready. Then get in contact with a photographer and get a headshot. Next contact a talent agency online or from reference and they'll take it from there. Remember dress neat and professional hair should be tidy and face clean!
@@1lain i learned that from many youtube videos
Daniel Clarke can we be friends. Like am also at home practicinf acting. One day i want to.become a great actor
You got this girl! I'll be looking for you in an upcoming movie.
Hope you get to where you want to be!
same...
Same dream here
this is something you learn in speech and debate that is literally key to having a good round and succeeding in the tournament
Great video I'm really beginning to see where I went wrong with some of my auditions
Wow she makes me really comfortable and confident
This is so helpful.. thanks
Great Anita!
It’s such a good feeling when you can walk into an audition confident, knowing you’re prepared 😊
Thanks for sharing this helpful advice, Holly. You are a gem ❤️
I’m gonna make it and grab the role. Yasssss!
This is so helpful but my struggle is, where to even get an audition? It's so hard for me
Same here.
U can get auditions by listing urself or contacting an agency, but make sure it isnt a scam, and I wish luck to u!😁🌻
U could also look around for plays or musicals and see where and how to audition, I hoped I helped just a little
I like the way you explained so precise, clear and so inspiration, Every interesting, Thanks Mrs. Holly Powell
*fake it 'til you make it.* love that proverb.
*Too bad i'm shy and get easily nervous. So yea. no chance for me i guess. But hey, it's about acting and not your personnality right?*
It's actually 99% spelling. Have you considered something in the food service industry?
You know you can become a voice actor

Hey Sal! She’s on days of our lives now. So cool to see her on this

Acting seems so fun!! I'm starting to get an interest for it and I hope to do it for a living/job! What I'm interested in is television or series type shows!😀💖💖💖
Thanks a lot mam. I am not a shy person nor nervous and i always want to be an actress

So glad you enjoyed it Alex!
"Fake it till u make it" that makes sense. Am a very shy girl but this words put together made me a little confident
I live in Toronto Ontario and I want to start acting, got lead roles in elementary school, starting drama this year in high school and hope to get lessons soon and go to auditions so this vid is helpful
Thanks great tips, gonna have my first audition soon, super nervous and have no clue on how audition work, but now I do
I wanted to do acting but then I saw this, and I was like, “nope, not doing this”
I’m pretty shy btw

Thank you, Holly Powell! I have a background mostly in Theatre but just recently I've started my transition towards film/tv/voice work(also another dream of mine is to be the narrator for audio books). Currently I live in SC and my film classes are out of Ashville NC. I've watched all of your videos on here and am grateful for them. I'm very aware how new I am at this craft and I'm just ready to DIG IN and EXPLORE.
This tips are really great. Thank you very much
straightforward, i like it
I wanna be an actor so bad no one believes me nor believe IN me but the more people don’t think I can do it the more I wanna be an actor😊
Lizzy Villarreal YES YOUVE GOT THIS❗️ don’t let anyone stop you, imagine if the now famous actors never tried, they wouldn’t be there.
i’ve been going to acting classes since i was a toddler (i’m almost 15 now) and i’ve been in a lot of performances in local and far away theatres. acting has been in my heart since i was 3 i adore it, it makes me happy and i’m always finding an excuse to do it. whether that’s at home or at my classes. i want to make acting a career, but it’s never been about fame or fortune. it’s about doing something that makes me indescribably happy. i know it’s hard to make money out of it and money is important but i just love it too much to not try. so thank u for this video, i’m trying to educate myself on auditions more as i definitely want to try them

I have decided to Peruse acting because over the years I have realized I get very shy around people I don’t know and this is good to get out of my shell!!

Thanks for the confidence! 💪👍😀
I'm ready to commit to a part-time (full-time), pure energy commitment, to acting.
First step: Agent for casting calls? Or just apply/ show up for casting calls?
William Fairfax Mason Prescott III hello
wow! so much great advice in one video! And I LOVE seeing the behind-the-scenes of other actors' experiences. It's so rare, but SO HELPFUL. Thank you for making this video.

I did this on my last audition, They asked " Have you been watching "Walking into the audition room" I said "Noooooo"
they responded " Now make us believe you"
Noshir!!!! One of the guys sitting in the class is an actor I worked with in my first movie!
Tomorrow is my acting audition and I find this very helpful .
i hope it goes well! tell us how you did :)
Hope it went well. If you have any future auditions check out: ua-cam.com/video/yO_AkoZWybM/v-deo.html
This was so helpful, thanks
Acting for me is very therapeutic in a way that makes sense! This helps alot as well as just being yourself in audition!
What if I am super shy, but I want to become an actor. How to defeat my shyness?
NeoLiya You will defeat your shyness while you start acting. 🙏🏼
i’m so awkward and so shy but performing is the one thing that makes me feel confident and you just have to realize that everyone is rooting for you
If your too shy for acting on a set then you can try to be a voice actor
something that will help overtime is acting classes, you are constantly being put on the spot which is terrifying at first but everyone is in the same boat so theres no embarrassment
If you really wanna act; act confident. Don’t care about what others think be proud and have strength and you will do what you want to do.
6:12 I remember her from America's Next Top Model! I can't remember if she won or not but it was years ago when she had that awesome bob hair cut on the show! She was a fantastic model who made it far in the show.
yes because i want to audition
Excellent. Will keep this in mind for my upcoming audition.
Your advice is very helpful! I truly want to become and actresses, and so I have been looking up sites and stuff like that. I plan to use this if I get an audition. Thank You so, much Holly Powell!! 😊
and now i’m nervous for the audition that i don’t have but i compared my past auditions to this
ive been thinking of auditioning, i live in arizona & plan on going to Los Angeles California to audition for a movie but i don't know what id need for the audition, some say that you don't need an agency & others say you will, also something about headshots.
trisha paytas Hi Trisha, you definitely need a headshot and resume for an audition.
Snatched from arizona as well
Thank you so much for this!
Holly
Thank you!
Thats hilarious the drug part😂
Thank you very much ... really really helped me as starting an acting career
Faking confidence, is that not something actors just do?:p
Yes! Indeed! But, before an audition the butterflies can take over, and the most seasoned actors can get hit with a case of flutters. So focusing on something you do really well, that you are confident about... say singing or playing the guitar or painting,...helps trick the mind into the confidence state. Thereby Faking it!
This is so amazing thank you for this video made me excited for auditions i don’t even have yet haha
More videos! This has helped me so much! Appreciate you!!!
Wow. This is actually really helpful
don't be nervious.you guys have to be prepare mentality and be confident.and you gonna do everything well.

Thank you Holly. Wonderful tips and I enjoyed going to your classes too! :)

I'm really quite curious about acting so, I'm going to make it one of my hobbies, thanks for the video also😁😁😁
How can someone audition for the CW network without an agent?
mehak lodhi Hi Melaka, send your picture and resume with a cover letter to the Head of Casting at the CW. Her name is Lori Openden. You can find the address for the CW on IMDB or by Googling it. In the cover letter tell her specifically which shows on the CW you would like to audition for. Also, send your picture and resume to the independent casting director on the specific show you are wanting to audition for. You can also find out the casting director for a specific show by going to IMDB and typing in the name of that show. Hope this helps, Holly
Sorry auto corrected your name!
