    Not only does this look amazing, it's the only recipe for raindrop cake I've tried that actually WORKS.

      Same. I imagined she'd put a flower in the gelatin before it was hardened, but that would've made it unpleasant to eat... lol.

      Don't be so hard on yourself, you can get much better at cooking with practice and studying different techniques. Also, there are hundreds of types of "talents" in life, and I'm sure you have something that Ann sucks at. Everyone has something special, maybe you just haven't found yours yet, but it's there

      she said the citric acid is for flavor, so i imagine it would taste like orange or lemon jello :3

    • @TheBBbandit
      @TheBBbandit 5 років тому +150

      Citric acid isnt really a flavor, its just a flavor enhancer. If you think about a candy like sour patch kids or other sour gummy candy, theyre coated in this "sour sugar." This sugar mix is citric acid mixed with sugar. So in this case it would likely taste like a slightly sour tang

    • @kayagorzan
      @kayagorzan 4 роки тому +19

      nah just aesthetic. very pretty though not what i would like for a dessert. and to the person above saying it's a basic taste since it's a low calorie dessert, you are 100% wrong. you can make awesome sugar free, low calorie desserts. this on the other hand, is just glorified jello.

      It's mostly cuz of a translation problem. In Japan, where the dessert originated, it's called Mizu-Shingen Mochi, which translates to "water-looking mochi". Because "mochi" doesn't have an exact English translation, the closest word for it is "cake", which led tho this thing being called a raindrop cake.

    OMG this is amazing!! Are you the first person who comes up with this idea? I don't know how I miss your first raindrop cake video. A while back, I saw a video clip on FB from an instructor in Vietnam, and she also used syringe, but with different special shape needle attachments. I was in AW with how someone can do that. It was about 15 years ago that my mom learned how to make jello (agar) cake with 3D flowers. It was quite popular back then in Vietnam because it is a lot more artistic than just pouring it into a mold. The task is very tedious because just like shaping fondant, she has to cut each petal and put them together onto a mold and pour clear liquid when each petal is attached so it can be "glue" together. The art is really beautiful, but to complete one cake takes a ton of time. Now the idea of making the flower sink into a cake is just so WOW!! Thanks for sharing it with us.

      like she said in the video you can add your own clear extracts for your choice of flavour. The citric acid she used will probably give a relatively sharp lemon juice like flavour.

      Raindrops cakes are not suppose to taste like anything!
      You kinda have to add other flavors to it (sauces, powders etc)
