The point is literally that. The difference between playing a rom at the end of the day is that you cant pop your rom into your GBA or DS and continue where you left off. It's for people that actually enjoy using their original carts, and/or want to back up their saves
you missed a few things in this video. for gen 3 games you can use a program on an r4 cart along with a ds to backup and restore the saves and then take the ds cart from the r4 and plug into your pc to save edit/safekeeping. also you can mod your gamecube to not require an official disc for the gameboy player specificaly the somewhat new pico-mod wich is cheap but requires a bit of soldering experience. might be more stuff i dont know about but there are important as they are quite cheap

I am asking because I have bought the Flash Boy 3.2 device, but it only allows me to transfer the save file from the gameboy cartridge to the PC, and not the other way around :(
Yes it does work. There's a load save option as well as a rip save option
Thats the MAIN reason I got this thing. I have plenty of capture devices, but this thing I mainly got for saving my gen 2 games!
@@Boblarka Nice, thank you!! seems like a really good option to keep my save file safe, since I also have a lot of shinies in gen2 through the egg method 😁
Can i play my copy of japense pokemon emerald on the gb operator ?
@@aetherbolt94 yes. It is completely region free
@@Boblarkagood to know . Thanks !
Out of curiosity, the emulator that is used in the software, does it have a fast forward function?
Yes
So if i have a .sav from say an Emerald ROM, i would be able to load it into my cart via the GB Operator?
correct
The GB Operator will it or are they going to make it also work for ds and 3ds fgames too? I ask as they are phasing out the ds support and 3ds is close on behind it as they are moving over to the Switch light as a handheld.
I think the DS is something they're hoping to work on next although there is no definitive time line for when that will happen.
@@Boblarka fingers crossed then , Cause I have quite a few Ds/3ds games and with the ds/3ds beign phased out well.....
Can u use the operator to save your game, edit it with shinies etc. and overwrite the cartridge?
You can save to the cartridge yes. As far as editing your save file you would have rip your save, edit it something like pkhex, and then reload it back onto the cartridge, all of which can be done
@@Boblarka exactly pkhex is what i want to use. Awesome, i'm gonna buy it! :) I don't have the patience of all these shiny hunters haha
Can u upload vc save files on to the cartridge
Possibly? I know the GB Operator outputs/inputs .sav files, but I'm pretty sure if you rip the save from VC it will not be that file type. If you can manage to convert that file into a .sav file I'd imagine it would work
How did you disable the overlay the Operator has? Whenever I start up a game it has a bar on the bottom for volume, pausing, fast forwarding, etc. Is there a way to disable that?
It goes away as long as you arent moving your mouse cursor in front/on the application. Also if you want to have the complete borderless look I got in the video, I cropped it in OBS
@@Boblarka Oh whoops, I kept moving my cursor off the application, which is why it didn't go away. Thanks!
does anyone know the music used in the vid

Thank you !!
Cool product but came scratched. I've purchased two and both are scratched almost like they been used.
Can’t speak on quality control from my end since the one I got was in good condition, but sorry to hear thay
I wish they made one with a GameBoy link cable port...I really wanna record my Jirachi hunt but I don't want to set up a tripod
Yea the only good way I could find to capture the Jirachi hunt was have one GameCube distribute the Jirachi and one GameCube with a game boy player to receive. The only way to be able to display the distribution part, unfortunately
@@Boblarka Yeah it seems like that's really the only way :/ I've heard something or other about using memory cards to get around the boot disk requirement for the GameBoy player, which would work great for me since I already have a Wii, Gamecube, and the Bonus Disk, but I'm not sure if it really works.
Fantastic video! I’m glad to see a shiny hunters perspective on this!
I heard that it doesn't interact well with games that have an RTC, is that right?
50 bucks just to even use it to save files alone is a great price
The company that sells this are they located in the USA?
I believe so
Great video! I recently completed my gen 3 cartridge collection and have a GB operator arriving in 2 days. Can’t wait to utilize separate emulators and PKhex 🤠 I really enjoyed the point about the Gen 2 cartridges, as I was staying away from them for the battery reasons. Now it seems like it may be worth it! I would definitely be interested in tutorial videos on how to trade between a gamecube emulator (XD and Colosseum). Also, would it be possible to receive mystery gifts, other than just using PKhex to give me the key items?
For receiving mystery gifts I have another video on the channel that shows how you can inject events via an r4 if that helps any
Can you trade pokemon using the operator ?
@@crustysailor8570 no you cannot
this should be made for nintendo ds cardrigdes the same thing for ds games would be awesome!!!
So it's just an extra step emulator? Most of those clips are running roms not the cartridge data so....what's the point of this exactly
The point is literally that. The difference between playing a rom at the end of the day is that you cant pop your rom into your GBA or DS and continue where you left off. It's for people that actually enjoy using their original carts, and/or want to back up their saves
Can you run multiple at once for multi hunting?
At the current time no.
Can you download the ROM with it?
Yes it can rip the rom and the save
You should also try this thing called mgba
i would recomment the gbxcart, essentially does the same thing and is cheaper
For ripping purposes only, I agree that's the way to go.
Can i Speed Up the Games also?
Yes
On that note
yah
Make a video on how to do events !! Also thank you just bought it
Will do, friend :)
where do we buy this?
www.epilogue.co/product/gb-operator
Noob question, why can't you just hunt shiny with a classic emulator and a rom?
yes
No need for this if you have an r4 card and an original ds with gba slot, but still a very cool little device.
I need one like now
Highly recommend it
I'm getting one asap it's just a money issue as of rn
you missed a few things in this video. for gen 3 games you can use a program on an r4 cart along with a ds to backup and restore the saves and then take the ds cart from the r4 and plug into your pc to save edit/safekeeping. also you can mod your gamecube to not require an official disc for the gameboy player specificaly the somewhat new pico-mod wich is cheap but requires a bit of soldering experience. might be more stuff i dont know about but there are important as they are quite cheap
Punctuation is good for you. Also I have a video on that already, but thanks for your input!
I found the website I put it all my information and it says that my card is denied what is up with it
Sounds like you should use a different card
Now it’s 60$
It still says $49.99 plus shipping on their website, it hasn’t changed
@@Boblarka I literally just bought it for 60.99 plus shipping, Europe prices might be automatically higher?
@@bibbolegend3507 I guess so? I visited the site earlier and it still says 49.99 for me, but I am located in the US. It might be a VAT or import tax? I dunno.
Their shipping service is absolutely hot garbage. Don't pay for expedited shipping service because it will cause them to print the table and drop off your order in a timely matter
For me personally it didn't take too long, but I also didn't get any updates until it arrived. I do know that you are correct and that other people have indeed had issues with their shipping times
Helena Pass
i spent 0 dollars and already have every single pokemon in one file. beat that
you win
Wait till it's no less than $200 in The future cuz capitalism and second hand markets
Better get one sooner than later then
Further increasing the price, that's my point
@@genjama ??? lol okay
this does not work for me dude. way too confusing. too many options to upload and backup and I don't know what any of it means. all I want to do is shiny hunt on multiple screens like I see people do online.
I want to shiny hunt for treecko I don't care about uploading and transferring save files it's WAY too confusing
