See Carole? Even Mother Nature loves you! She protected you and your guides and then delivered a beautiful Spatuletial right to you first thing. Your official greeter! Of all of the gorgeous hummers, this has to be my favorite! They're so unique. How wonderful that this is an annual trip for you. You look so happy. It makes us happy too. I have to admit, I get teary when I see those drone videos. Such a beautiful country. We will be waiting to see what's in-store on the second part of your venture, Carole❤ Until then...
We just happened to have the drone up when it happened. We heard the crash and thought "What on earth was that?" and sent the drone back. It just missed us. The car behind us backed up and turned around.
@@HummingbirdSpot And people think that filming hummingbirds is all rainbows and unicorns, rather than hard work, long hours and REAL dangers sometimes. Thank you/your entourage for doing what you do to share these little miracles with the rest of us!🥂😎
Another great video! Wow that was a close call with the rock slide. So glad you got to visit your Spatuletail Hummingbird. They are so gorgeous and the Short-Tailed Woodstar is a little beauty. The drone footage, as usual , was fantastic.
Just incredible, Carole! Such beautiful hummingbirds, and what a trip! The divine hand of grace was at work, allowing you safe passage, thru that tricky area. Can't wait to see more of the Marvelous Spatuletail 😍 Thank you, Carole. 🥰
A super gorgeous Spatuletail Hummingbird! I have never heard and of course seen a hummingbird like the Spatuletail. The other hummingbirds are just as gorgeous also.
WOW, just narrowly missed that falling debris from the road bank. What a journey and beautiful country. Those hummingbirds are beautiful. Keep up the good work and be safe. 👍💓☮️🇨🇦☕🦫
Thank you Carol the Spatchaiol tail was very beautiful. Not sure how to spell it though. I loved the pictures of the countryside going to Ecuador and Peru.❤❤❤😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Yes one of the best places for this endangered gorgeous hummer, without a doubt! Not impressed by the staff but they do have the best location including the manager's private property above the lodge, which is now the new hotspot to see and photograph despite the incredible climb that most seniors can't do. Reminded me of the Blue-bearded Helmetcrest trek. The lodge does have a male and juvenile at the old feeder section but not as great as the manager's property. I took amazing photos and videos of the Marvelous on the manager's property. I wasn't lucky to see it in July at the feeders on the cliff. But the White-bellied Hummingbird and female Black-tailed Trainbearer was a pleasant surprise.
Yes, it is quite a hump up to the top! I spent four days climbing up and down before flying to Santa Marta. Huembo was part of my conditioning for the Helmetcrest!
Fantastic video Carole! What a stunning place and wow all the effort to get there❤. Im sad about your knee 😔. I hope all goes well and you can continue these fablous adventures and heal quickly. 😘 if not i will volunteer to sherpa you 😂. Lumberjill sherpa.
I love seeing the birds....and I thank you very much for sharing your adventures....I absolutely dislike the that you will not speak to the natives in these videos... IDK why but part of me really wants to hear the native tongue being spoken...even if in a basic low level communication way..... Love and thanks... Cheers
I was wondering what lens you use for most of your fantastic hummingbird photography. Is that the Z 400 f/2.8 or Z 600 f/4 shown near the end of this video?

You all were very fortunate to be spared from the rock slide AND to have the drone recording it at the same time-that's awesome!

I hope this type of hummingbirds will migrate to Vancouver. I have my feeder waiting for them.

I have two cameras and two lenses I use interchangeably. Nikon Z7 and Z9 with both the 500 and 800PF lenses.
