Originally, the carpets were not glued into place. Also, I believe the screws through the carpet under the front seats were factory. My ‘66 has two screw holes on each seat riser that corresponds to the holes in the carpet. By gluing the carpet in, you are making it harder for the next person who goes in there. P.s. I do love the way you pronounce Mustang.
The nuts holding the seats are 1/2", NOT 13 mm. There are no metric bolts or nuts on a 65 Mustang. 1/2" is 12.7 mm. Using a smaller size metric socket (.3 mm) than the correct SAE socket is a good way to round out the nuts.

Is it OK to put an extra layer of insulation down if your new carpet comes with insulation? Or will it hurt the fitment of the new carpet?
