Lyrics:
I am a man cut from the know
Rarely do friends come and then go
She was a girl soft but estranged
We were the two our lives rearranged
Feeling so good that day
A feeling of love that day
Twisting and turning, your feelings are burning
You're breaking the girl
(She meant you no harm)
Think you're so clever, but now you must sever
You're breaking the girl
(He loves no one else)
Raised by my dad, girl of the day
He was my man, that was the way
She was the girl left alone
Feeling the need to make me her home
I don't know what, when or why
The twilight of love had arrived
Twisting and turning, your feelings are burning
You're breaking the girl
(She meant you no harm)
Think you're so clever, but now you must sever
You're breaking the girl
(He loves no one else)
Twisting and turning, your feelings are burning
You're breaking the girl
(She meant you no harm)
Think you're so clever, but now you must sever
You're breaking the girl
(He loves no one else)

RIP River.. a soul far too beautiful for this world. 🖤
@@UnremarkableMarx Yeah, I am pretty sure this is about a girl that Anthony had liked, and his dad liked her too. BUT, maybe I am wrong?
Anthony's dad used drugs and got him to use them too, and I am pretty sure that this song is about a girl that ended up being "involved" with Anthony and his dad also wanted her, and Anthony looked up to his dad, so, it made for a really weird situation. I'd heard this explanation a while ago, and as for the truth of it? I am not sure about that, BUT, the lyrics sure do sound like it is right.
@@juliegogola4647 it is about a girl named Carmen Hawk that Anthony dated between '89 and '90,she was mentally unstable because her dad abandoned her and their relationship ended up being really toxic for both of them,Anthony wrote this because when problems started showing he quickly lost interest even though they were deeply in love.Anthony referenced his father because he was worried(rightfully)that he'd turn out like him, being unable to really commit in a relationship.

Caitlin Elizabeth That's why I don't watch a lot of movies and specially sequels that tends to be more and more bad (looking at you Blade Runner) and I feel like they are just here to profit from the fame they ancestors had and sell some toys to kids. Ruining licences to make money seems to be they way Hollywood is taking. Plus these actors looking like they lost their soul and they are just here to fill a gap on the screen (and in the producer's bed)... There was maybe cold war and stuff like that in the 80s but at least they had good films and music...
Mia Rasmussen i'd like this but it has 420 likes on it and i dont wanna ruin that...
Leia doesn't look so hot though... but then that may be me.

I'm 48 years old. This video truly rocked my world when it came out.
All of their songs are so damn good. I’m more of a stadium Arcadium album guy but every album was enlightening
47 and same. First saw them on some Saturday morning variety show between cartoons in the mid eighties playing at a bowling alley with drum major hats on. Then Mother's Milk came out and I saw John on the cover sitting in her hand laughing and was like "Who is that guy"? Didn't know Hillel had passed at the time. That was the moment that changed mine. Been enamored with Fruciante ever since, and of course the entire band.
Oh my God me too. Thanks for being old like me ....

My favorite RHCP song. Also, one of the two songs I sang to audition for the lead in a regional band that played the adult bar scene nightly at the time.
I sent in my cassette tape (acapella) and was selected to audition in person for the job.
They were not expecting a 17-year-old to show up who would go on to need a special permit to work within the group.
My Father always said up until the day he died, *"Life's a party, and I am so glad I was invited."*
He came to every venue.

My favorite RHCP song. Pure nostalgia when I was in college, summer of 1992😌
90's explosion of creativity. best decade for music!!
70s were more creative, but 90s are my favorite
There's always going to be a bias. It's going to be based on your generation, with a spin from your parents. There's a reason the 70s were cool in the 90s. You want creative abjectly? Most recently it's got to be the 50s into the 60s. Rock music was invented almost simultaneously from blues with the advent of electric guitars like the Gibson Les Paul. Chuck Berry maybe if anyone could gets credit. This explosion accelerated as tube amps with vacuum tubes changed into germanium transistors. We got distortion and all manners of recording and music technology. kraftwerk did their first show in the 60s. Music can't move that fast ever again. Now creativity should abound with near free access no most to making an album. But it's also too clustered and I'm sick of type
Ok I'll finish. By the 70s rap starting happening as mentioned because you could get the equipment. If no equipment you could still beat box or rhyme. The styles being driven by equipment availability. Eddie Van Halen starts tapping. Usually a guitar need a pluck or strum to cause vibration to be heard. With pickups and amps that can be just taps. Any like an old keyboard where your finger powered the strike to a laptop the reduced effort allows for major speed.
We saw national acts picking up Africa in the 80s. Lots of sampling.
In the 90s it was cool to have a Jamaican yell. Seemly deflating novelty and creativity.
Now we just recycling. Nu metal wasn't new. Run DMC came up with that. Almost embarrassing. It is embarrassing. What's new now? Usually using the same song on tic TOC everyone else does
It takes a man with confidence that can pull off coral chiffon....
+Rochelle Eskue you again, haha

Amazing song from an amazing album. I'm not the biggest Pepper's fan, but you gotta admit this was an excellent album.
yes
I fully admit it. I really enjoy their stuff up to this album. It went downhill really quickly after, to the point that they are unrecognizable to me now. Not trying to be negative. Just honest. They really suck now.
But back then? Man, they were the coolest. And yes, this album is the zenith of that. I’d say it’s one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. Perfection.
