I'm a 3D animator. What's probably happening is that upper management is continually pissing off the artists, forcing them to make repeated changes. The artists KNOW it looks bad and doesn't work, but their hands are tied. Eventually the artists decide 'fuck this - if they want ugly, we'll give them ugly' and make the character ridiculously hideous, like an angry old Karen. They know it's crap, we know it's crap. Management think it's great but we all know the truth.

I've been making the stand for years. Last game I bought was Hogwarts Legacy. Before that, Cyberpunk. Before that.........South Park the Fractured But Whole, I think? Anything else I get are either steeply discounted or through GoG's free-game giveaways. Could probably be argued that I had a lapse in judgement on the first two, but I was genuinely interested in Cyberpunk, and I let the buycott get the better of me for Hogwarts. I believe many studios realize now that it was a bad choice, but making games is many years long progress. SBI and other such promoted this shit to gaming studios few years ago some "new thing that will be popular due current political climate". Some studios took the bait, thinking this is some unique stance they are having now. But now, after 2-3 years when studios are actually getting the games into release shape , they realize that "oh sheeet, people dont like this and we are on the same boat".
Also, remember who owns Marvel? Its very likely, that its in Disney policy, that when outsourced company makes a Marvel/Disney game, they MUST use SBI or other such DEI consult, otherwise Disney doesnt allow the game be made by them. I am cuite 100% certain that Disney demands it from those companies.

Could probably be argued that I had a lapse in judgement on the first two, but I was genuinely interested in Cyberpunk, and I let the buycott get the better of me for Hogwarts. A game has to **really** stand out for me to fall to the urge to buy it new, otherwise.
