    I rented a Hagedorn spreader it was great I loved the hydropush and liked the vertical beaters but the littlest spreader was what I got and it still needed 160 horse and I used 130 (4440) I knew it would power it but the 4440 would kinda skid around when I tried stoping it with a full load.

    I'm in the same boat - grown to the point at which we need a new spreader. I'm going with a side discharge, Kuhn Knight. Not heard anything bad about them. Going to be spreading bed pack as well as some really wet stuff. Ground I need to spread on is steep pastures, so the side discharge suits me the best. Best of luck with whatever you decide to get.

    I have very little experience with a speeder but my u see standing I would look at what you will be spreading more of as in wet or dry as in like pack and ect.

    Slingers are great for beinable to spread thin on hay but in pack manure they take longer to unload vertical beater are the best for pack manure

    We have a Pikrite 790 VB Hydra-ram 400 bushel and it does a really job of tearing up and spreading pen pack.

      Brad High I found a used 790 that I'm seriously considering. Have you had any problems with it? Could you spread round bales of bedding with it?

      Pennsylvania Farming So far we haven't had any problems with it that I can think of, just changed the gear box oil the other week. As for spreading a round bale, I would think it could, never tried it, but if you pushed it through slow enough I'm sure it'd be alright.

    From what I see everyone loved there side spreader. We are thinking about one. Vertical beater are nice if you only have pen pack from what I see.

    Those Rikrite spreaders look pretty good. The only experience I have is with the rear discharge spreaders. I have seen some of the side discharge but I like the rear discharge better. I saw a video of the Pikrite 380 and that thing was slinging some manure.

      Rdrake1413 I found a used Pikrite. I keep hearing that the v bottom spreaders or side discharge spreaders can be slow when spreading pen pack

    Those Pik Rite look like a very nice spreader, I was looking at them, but the nearest one was in your state, so I guess I'll keep waiting!

      +Northern Wisconsin Farming I took a couple media classes with the marketer for Pikrite last spring. They sound like a good company and I haven't heard anything bad about their machines.

      Yes, they look like a great machine. If I remember right, they have a hydro push style and a very heavy duty apron chain style. And cost wise, they are by far a better price than their competition! Hopefully someday I can get one! Good luck to you on your decision!

    I only have experience with side discharge spreaders but I'm looking for a new spreader too. I've heard some people say that depending on what you spread with the vertical beaters they won't throw as much to the sides as they do behind the spreader. I've heard the high output spreaders from WWW.LANCOEQUIPMENT.COM spread much more evenly so I've been taking a close look at them.Also the artex spreaders look to be well built.

      TheCustomFarmer Pikrite claims a 30ft spread pattern. The dealer told me the other day that someone wanted a wider pattern so they sent it back to Pikrite to get more "bear claws" in order to throw further.

      @TheCustomFarmer 6 років тому

      That would be interesting to know how that works for them. I talked to the owner of lanco in person and I have no reason to believe that he wasn't telling me the truth but he claimed his will spread 70-90 foot and that the design makes it impossible to got large clumps dropped in your field. When you said you wanted to spread on hay I thought you night want to at least take a look at them. I farm 100% notill and I don't want to deal with clumps so that's why I'm looking at them.

    • @PennsylvaniaFarming
      @PennsylvaniaFarming  6 років тому

      +TheCustomFarmer wow that would be awesome to spread that wide.
