    1:45 There ought to be an 8 hour youtube video of robots walking through nature with only ambient sounds, use a 4k camera on a tripod.

      all it goes to show was how shitty the company was at making a robot.
      wich was the films point.
      greed leading to terrible bad solutions and shitty products.

    01:30 ED-209 would probably applaud while shedding a tear watching this.
    The design is dorky as hell but damn sure impressive and probably expandable to 3 or more legs for added stability.
    Walk animation and looks reminded me of a Robot from one of the old Star Wars Movies.

    Looks like the robots off of the old school ninja turtles cartoon that catches Bebop and Rocksteady from the zoo. A lot of the technology shredded used is popular today ie. technidrone and handheld Skype devices.

    It should be noted that while this is proper bipedal locomotion it isn't a natural biological gait. Look at how the feet remain parallel to the ground as the leg lifts and swings forward. A natural gait has the foot flex from heel to toe at the end of the stride and lands on the heel at the beginning. This type of motion makes it very cumbersome to move quickly.

    This is how robots should look like - practical and to their faculties. None of that useless anthropomorphic crap.

    • @Katzelle3
      @Katzelle3 8 років тому +4

      Human looking robots are usually built for telepresence purposes.
      It is also much easier for human looking robots to interact with pre-existing objects that are designed for humans.
      We also try to emulate mechanisms found in nature, as they are seen as extremely efficient and appropriate in various environments.

  • @JeSsSe66
    @JeSsSe66 8 років тому +3

    These look damn impressive. Great designs too, as opposed to the inefficient, top heavy humanoid designs people usually try to go for, for what ever reason that may be.

    • @JeSsSe66
      @JeSsSe66 8 років тому

      Not really, our biological design is incredibly inefficient when used in robotics.
      Unless we find better ways to store large quantities of energy, or make actuation of limbs use less energy, its not a practical choice.

    SCHAFT? Is it a reference to Patlabor?

    Оригинальное решение только не очень надежное как по мне и не рассчитанное на большой вес робота.
    Но держит равновесие он просто замечательно.
    Больших военных роботов с таким приводом можно не ждать, а вот ходячие пулеметные турели вполне возможно сделать. Или гранатомет, в общем небольшой боевой комплекс с огнестрельным оружием и возможностью отстрела пары подствольных гранат.
