Wonderful testing, glue all or mediums are 100% neccesary when working with just low level craft paints, as well as put your paintings within 20 to 28% celcius and with 50% humidity up until 80%, no air flows should touch the paints, that will prevent crackings, unless you are using a super professional winser/arteza/liquitex/amsterdam paints, medium is not always neccesary, pretty good video
IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS VIDEO SO LONG. i saw the other one. in general, i think it’s safer to go with pva glue all because it’s not water soluble which is BIG if you are painting because you don’t want to be washing white pigment or glue into your paints when you are painting with watered acrylics overtop of it and have it change the color. so having it be non-water soluble is important. and glue all is literally stronger and for craft projects. glue all is for kids and thus doesn’t need to be as strong because the people using it won’t notice or care. at lowe’s you can buy a gallon of it in bulk which saves SO SO much money if you paint often. (4-8 ounces for 5 or 6 dollars but 128 ounces for $13-15? that’s 3 times the cost for roughly 21 times the glue. worth it. that’s my opinion. have a great one
So glad you found it! Tracking glue prices this year was not a hobby I thought I would pick up...but alas 2020 has done strange things to all of us. That sounds like a great deal at Lowes! It seems to have returned to normal, but at the beginning of the Summer the glue was about 5 times more expensive!
I just found this video and want to thank you so much for doing this yes and sharing the results!! I’m now subscribed to your channel JUST BECAUSE OF THIS VIDEO. So thank you!! I’ve created several paintings with Elmer’s School Glue mixed with water as a pouring medium...because most videos I watched prior said “white pea glue.” And when the artist showed the glue it was generally Elmer’s. I never noticed or was aware that there were TWO DIFFERENT (more, actually) Elmer’s glues. So I just bought the Elmer’s School Glue because I found it for .49 a bottle during “Back to School” sales. Then, every painting I did it poured absolutely beautifully so I was happy! Unfortunately upon DRYING was when the disappointment came. This glue (School glue) caused the colors to “separate” during drying, which meant I lost almost ALL cells and had had patches of white canvas showing through. 😔 I gessoed over those as I was so disappointed in them. I have other paint pouring mediums I use (water, floetrol, etc) and they all work great, so I wasn’t worried about it, but I was frustrated because I wanted the variety of results, like using different paint brands, you get different results with different pouring mediums too. A week ago I was watching another artist’s pour and she emphasized using Elmer’s Glue All, which made me go, “huh?!” What’s the difference? Then I was at the store, looked at the labels, cost, etc...and could not find the difference other than cost. ???? I was stumped. But I did buy a bottle of Glue All JUST IN CASE because I did feel like it was worth the testing. After much research I found nothing real solid - even on the Elmer’s site! - that told me what the REAL difference was between Elmer’s School Glue and Elmer’s Glue All. (Frustrating!!) And for that reason alone I almost said to myself, screw it, I’m not buying from Elmer’s. Then I found your video, which specifically addresses the question I needed to know about, which is the drying and cracking, and shows RESULTS!!! (Seems like very few artists are showing their dried paintings and then same painting post varnish/resin). I feel like no matter what paint and pouring medium you use, ALL PAINT POURS look amazing when wet!!! It’s what happens AFTERWARDS that counts. Thank you again, I’m going to give the Glue All a try. Elmer’s needs to become a supporter of your channel!!! Or send you free product!! 🙌🏼
Thank you for this updated video! Especially testing the different Elmer's products to see which is better quality. Definitely great to know, for us struggling broke artists out here!
great test/retest. never noticed the diff between school glue and glue all . thanks. hey how come there was no sound effect for the glue version's reveals ... 8^ )
You'll still need some water and, of course, your paint. Ratio for water will depend on the type of paint you're using, but still more glue than water overall. And then about 2 parts pouring medium to 1 part paint.
Very helpful video. I was just sitting here debating if I should offer that unopened gallon of school glue I accidentally bought as a freebie to homeschooling parents or not and this helped me decide that's a big YES. LOL
I have found Glue-All is by far the cheapest per gallon at Lowes or Home Depot in the US. Usually near the paint aisle. $14.97 per gallon usually.
Hi LBA!! I watch your channel all of the time. Nice to see you here. Hope you are well.
Happens to all of us initially I think.@lyricsews

I see LBA I click. I’ve learned so much from watching his videos.

Those came out so cool! They remind me of something you'd see in the ocean

I am so glad I could help! I obviously went through the same experience, it can be so frustrating to figure out all the variables with Fluid Painting!
Loved the paintings!👍🙏🏻

You're welcome! I am glad I did the retest, it was enlightening!
Thank for this retest. I follow that and demo to a small group . They like the outcome . Thank anyway

why is the glue used with pouring paint?
Glue all do you need to add anything to it. I'm very new to pouring paint, so much information in what to use gets very confusing.
You'll still need some water and, of course, your paint. Ratio for water will depend on the type of paint you're using, but still more glue than water overall. And then about 2 parts pouring medium to 1 part paint.
you can get the glue all at the begining of the school year in the school supplies. The glue all is a little harder to find how a days.
You did t show the thickness of the paint with each can you let me know
The water was thinner and the two glues were about the same.
Very helpful video. I was just sitting here debating if I should offer that unopened gallon of school glue I accidentally bought as a freebie to homeschooling parents or not and this helped me decide that's a big YES. LOL
So glad I could help!
Don't use the washable type then? Makes sense
good video!
Thanks!
Is that cameo photo using glue all? From a bald person.😊👍🙏🏻
