The FPS is starting to be much better for sure but the biggest issue for me now is the lag spikes where my game freezes for 1-5 seconds. This happens very often during PvP and it’s incredibly frustrating. In additional to better FPS performance, I really hope CIG prioritizes trying to fix the lag spikes as it’s the biggest issue right now imo in regards to frame rate

Performance is really good now, although R7 5800X3D, 32GB of RAM, and RX 7800XT are not bad in any regard, it could be better , playing in Vulkan with 3440x1440 an 66% of TSR and everything maxxed except clouds on V.High:
Regarding bugs, there are many still present, up until today on 4.0 Preview I found these:
    - elevators not working for exiting hangar
    - trespassing friendly station
    - when use ship retrieving from ASOP terminal, ship is displaced
    - hangar doors not opening from inside hangar
    - loading cargo direct from refinery to ship without it being stored
    - sounds from other hangars still heard in own hangar (especially when in ship)
    - scopes on swap lose cross
    - cargo boxes from previous storing displaced at freight elevators
    - CTD when looking at Mirai MX in store left terminal at New Deal/Lorville
    - when elevator arrives to destination, button needs to be pressed once again to open doors
    - power management not persisting with setup
    - power management setup on ships needs to be reconfigured by default
    - power management setup after exiting quantum travel is reset to strange layout with free energy
    - medical assistant regeneration terminal doesn't update in real time (one needs to re-access it to see change)
    - from hangar when one press to store ship on ASOP, it does nothing
    - Vulture filler station SCU counter and text is overlapping
    - CTD while ingame
    - need for second alignment for quantum jump
    - when via mobiGlass on landing tab, with ship landed, refueling/repair/restock disappears after few seconds
    - terminals need sometimes double access
    - TDD commodities shop terminal has a stutter when accessing it
    - TDD commodities shop terminals have lag when scrolling
    - random head turns when entering pilot seat
    - stutter when exiting mobiGlass
    - DGS border kicks ship out of quantum travel
    - quantum fuel not being used whenever swapping DGS boundaries and ship is kicked out of QT
    - entering and exiting multiple times into ship while in hangar, gives repeated spooling up sound
    - hangar floor when ship is called disappears, and ship falls back down
    - double doors on hangars/elevators/ships
    - Prospector module description with detail in Mining UI is not complete
    - waiting for elevator in front of elevator doors in hangar teleports you into elevator when it arrives
    - pilot exiting seat in Vulture stands on it
    - black screen crash
    - Cutlass Black whole cargo grid not showing up
    - "Hi, let me know if there is anything I can help you with?" guy<
    - Entered someone's hangar with ship without being dropped out of it
    - Elevator kicks me as trespassing

I have a question: Why is the GPU time shown in the in game framegraph at 0 in your footage? I have also tried out 4.0 and the framegraph is showing the same thing for me. I wonder why that is.

  • @Incariuz
    @Incariuz 3 години тому

I wish my performance increased, but it seems to have decreased from 3.24. In 3.24 I was getting 30-55fps in Orison, and up to 100 in space, but now on 4.0, I'm getting 20-35fps in Orison, and just barely over 60 in space. Seems no matter what I change with settings, resolution, or even if I enable upscaling, nothing changes, I'm very confused. That said, I had the same issue on an early 3.24 build, but the last one cleaned it up for me.

holy shit. 10 servers on a shard? wasnt expecting that much. honestly i think cig should lower the player count. like imagine the old 100 player with that 10 server shard? or even just 4? the playability would be so good. something that sc has been struggling with for far too long. the whole "when it works, its amazing". and well the server meshing makes it work better, but not so much when u scale the player counts up with it.
im still prob going to wait for full 4.0 release before hopping back in tho

Just when they fix one essential feature for the game to be playble, another one gets broken (contracts, quantum travel) which makes the game unplayable again. It's like 2 buttons, you press one, theother closes, and if you press the other one, the first one closes.

4.0 has been a huge improvement on the server itself for responsiveness and NPC AI. The other backend systems are still needing refactors to take advantage of the meshing and still iffy at times, but I was pleasantly surprised. I played in the meshing capacity tests and based on those I figured it was another year out before a PTU could be seen. They had one run of Pyro with 6 servers and Stanton with 4 and 600 players that worked well sans the backend services getting taxed, so I guess they went back to 5:5:500 for better stability until more of the backend services get updated. Missions are their focus for now because without missions there's nothing to do except pvp and they still need work hence why it didn't go full live. I am glad they decided to keep it cooking in parallel instead of pushing it out too soon. The core server tech is important to get dialed because everything in the future hinges on meshing working.
I am on a 11700K 64GB DDR4 3200 RAM 3080ti 12G 3440x1440p resolution and I can hold 30-40 minimum FPS+ anywhere so far with everything on very high with medium clouds. In space I am now hitting 90-100 FPS in the PU where I could only hit that in Arena Commander in the past. I will have to try Vulkan again. In 3.2x it was unstable for me with LOD artifacts and gave no visible FPS gains over DX11a. Having said that I am still impressed with what they can squeeze out of DX11a with a game engine core that was originally built around DX9/10.

The purpose of Vulkan is not necessary a better framerate (for now), but a more efficient at compiling shaders for instance. Its MUCH faster in Vulkan, where you almost have zero stuttering. In this case, the CPU and GPU are capable of doing more and thus, eventually, the FPS might be better in the future when they actually optimize the game assets and landing zones. There is a massive amount of area with memory leak, unoptimized assets.
