Michael Johnson is the most unheralded talent of my lifetime. I have been listening to him since the 70's and was heartbroken when he passed. Everyone I introduce to him is amazed.
I completely agree. I was a little girl in the 70's and if I had been older, I would have run to one of his concert's. I too was very sad to learn he had passed away. I was wondering where he was buried, I would love to visit his grave, pay my respects to a very talented musician who this world is lost without. I hope he is looking down upon his faithful fans and sees how much we really do love and miss him.
There was a lot to like/love about Michael Johnson! There was no mistaking his sincerity about his music and decency one can not exist without the other ......~!~
I remember watching this when it aired on local public television. Some things in life are worth encountering again and again. As for the single dislike thus far, I wonder what it feels like be alone in the universe.
I discovered MJ's music through a Spotify recommendation. He and I have similar vocal range -- so when I'm singing in my car, it's almost like I'm on that record.
My first time to hear MJ. Saw Leo live about ‘73 or ‘74 after hearing some of his albums. I have continued to listen to him since. Having albums. Supporting him now through UA-cam, it’s been quite a journey. Thanks for posting this video of Leo and MJ.
I am Brazilian I love Michael Johnson's songs he is excellent his voice is an excellent musician I have a dream of having four albums home free, you can call me blue, the album, dialogue if you have a fan I accept this gift
"All of my records have come back to hunt me one way or another", says MJ. Kottke literally put this in the back cover notes on one of his records where he revisited/re-recorded some of his earlier songs.
I say Michael Johnson play solo back around 1991or so; he was very good. "Drops of Water" is one I particularly remember, as well as a great rendition of "Jacques Cousteau" (written by Plastique Bertrand). Who's the woman hosting the show? She actually seems to know something about the artists and their music, or at the very least she did some research in advance. We could use more interviewers of this caliber. I've watched some interviews of Richard Thompson where the hosts didn't have a clue.

So very well put. Thank you.

I’m watching this in 2023 and I can’t help thinking Leo and Matt Damon could have been twins if you leave the age difference out of it.
I came here for Leo Kottke, but the song by Michael Johnson is pure magic.

MJ was truly one of the most gifted folk artists in the last 50 years… It is a shame he didn't get more recognition.
Still stirring the musical soul in 2023. THANK YOU.
Both such wonderful musicians, yet such different styles of folk! Love and respect to both!!!
Beautiful. Truth in Beauty.

Michael Johnson's Music Helped Me Get Through Many Romantic Breakups! A True Romantic Interpreter!!!

Absolute delightful program, thank you!!
Thank you algorithm!
Beautifully filmed…love the closeups
Hats off to public television. Two guitarheads is better than one.
P. S. I think that's "Airproofing" there at the end.
Love this!
The honking sound he gets from that old Martin is as "Leo" as it gets...love it!
Thank you very much for this.
My," one and only wife," was Pamela, and she she was brown...❤
Do you drive a pickup truck?
Leo said that he had a Gibson L5 that he loved in a Guitar Player interview. Great-sounding guitar. He should have played it more often.
Never ever saw Leo play one before. Fits his styleand technique very nicely. Been following Leo for Fifty years nowand hope to continue forever!
Have never seen Leo play with anyone else before.

And she was very cute too!
Michelle was almost unbearably gorgeous, as was Leo. What an explosive era in the Twin Cities 40 years ago.
Sounds akin to Hawaiian slack key playing.
On a," lighter note"....❤😅😊
DuWayne for you and Tim...
What is the Name of the opening song? I have heard it a lot, but blanking out on the title.
Mona Ray. Song list in comments.
Who's the host?
Michele Barber
