His son and I are near the same age and Jamie would come visit at our house. John was also present at the birth of Carnes Blake, my brother on June 14, 1971. They had just gotten in off the road and our mother was in labor.

I was there. It was my first Philadelphia Folk Festival. Even more amazing than it sounds here.

John Hartford was originally going to be the fiddle player for Old and In the Way but for some reason it didnt work out.
My understanding is that Hartford did a couple gifs with Old and In the Way before Vassar joined. I reckon their ain't no recordings.
