Cutting that slot to make it fit on the bug. In America we call it channeling.
I guess it's channeling in a way...
You sure work hard. Thanks for the videos.
To guys play in garage awesome thanks remind me of doing it😊
Your Barefoot mates laugh is infectious love this project and i must say the Hudson looked good just getting pushed can't wait to see it in action under it's own power
Thanks for saving me writing what you just said.
This quickly became my favorite youtube channel to watch!! Thanks for bringing us along for the ride!

To bad you couldn't find a Subaru pan . Then it could be four wheel drive .... 🤔 You all are doing great . Keep up the fun . 👍🍻🍻🍻 Hay Div did you hear about the man that came home and sat in his chair telling his wife to get him a beer .
She sead excuse me !
He took off his pants and handed them to her saying " put them on "
She sead "you know I can't fill them " .
He sead " that's right . Now get my beer "
His wife took off her pants and handed them to him to try on .
He laughed and sead " you know I can't get into them " .
She responded with " damb right and with that attitude you never will "! 😂🤣😭😢
😂😂😂
First look its a gasser 😊
You guys are having to much fun.
If you can laugh at yourself, you always have something to laugh at😆
Great job thanks again 😊
Just like 2 teenagers playing with their cars in the old days. Looks like fun, guys. You are living the dream. Having good health and time makes all the difference in the world. LOVE IT!
Yes, the older we get the more we realize the importance of good health! Grateful for every day!
Great stuff again Diff
LOVED the way you look at the Weedeater for the Wifey on Wednesday
😁
Six words wet vacuum fer dust
well done Div and Wayne the barefoot mechanic....SWMBO will be happy you have alocated a time during the week to tinker on her RENOBUG
Was surprised to see the disc brakes, gonna be a great little car
The bare foot mechanic makes the video even more fun, you are a very talented person, have a lucka one, your friend from the states , Brian.
A grand pair you and Wayne are, laughing and building, fantastic every video is grand. Merry Christmas Duff
EXCELLENT VIDEO MAN 👌
The "Barefoot mechanic" adds so much to your videos HAHAHAHAHA 😂 , Wayne is a character. Maybe some vid of him dancing about the floor as the sparks fly from the plasma cutter HAHAHAHAHA.....
Keep up all the good work and keep Wayne busy ehh hahaha.
I always seem to have a lot of BS to tolerate but a monkey SHATING on my project isn't one of them HAHAHAHAHA.........can't wait till the next Renobug video wee wee !!! 😂
😆He is quite a character!
Still another project thanks for taking me along
You guys have way too much fun "working". Good start Div.
That wheel is common in the states however they are all four lug
Thats a unique wheel.
As always…. Thank you for the fun. Looking good man. Looking good… 😊👍👍
So I had not heard of a Renault “Gordini” so I looked it up. Here in Canada Renault called that model a different name. My grandpa had a 1965, and a 1977. Not sure how reliable they were, but since he had a few, they could not have been too bad. I enjoyed spending the Wednesday with your crew as well! (Even though I watched on Sunday) Thanks, Div!
Gordini is the Performance model. Like cooper is to Austin Morris.
That means this floor will be where the original was, when you started. Right. We had a couple of early 60's, Renaults, two door posts. One ran real good for what it was. Brings back good memories. Thanks. Ronnie.
Yes, we will do that and see how it works out...
This process of the fitting and measuring and cutting is the learning step of the Renault/VW project . I'm excited can wait for the next fabrication steps to getting the job done!
enjoying :O)
This is going to be a cool little car! And you took two cars headed to scrap and are making something usable and even enjoyable from them! Nice work!
Thanks!
Hi Diff In the states we call Wednesday hump day . I thought you guy's got quite a bit accomplished. If I lived closer I'd come , an help you .Time for you to rest , an take it easy !
Cool project Div. So happy to see a new video on it.
Div and the Barefoot Mechanic are educational and entertaining 👌 Lekka mates
Loving the banter in this episode :)
Lekker boyz!!
Love watching you guys.
Having fun in the shop with a laid back attitude.
I hear you, no more late-night partying for me either. 😄 It appears the little Reno is pretty well built, it put up a bit of a fight!
Coming along nicely 😮
Looks good from here... carry on.. Cheers
Welcome to Wifeys Wat Wod Wenobug Wednesday 😂
How does your mate NOT hurt his feet? Walking around barefoot with rusty metal all over the floor, sparks and bits of hot metal flying everywhere not to mention lifting heavy steel components with no protection for his feet? He must have some serious thick leather skin action going on with the soles of his feet …. Incredible. Loving the video and watching the progress with great interest as usual. Lekka Boet Michael Uk 🇬🇧
We refer to them in Afrikaans as die "Kaalvoet Klonkie"😂😂😂
I don't know, but he still has all his toes!😅
@@JustinPaul1st😂😂 what’s a Klonkie?
@@ratrodsafricaaha… toes of steel and your legs of steel (the ones that hair doesn’t grow on), what an awesome combo 😂😂😂
@@michaelholmes4525 🤣
Div Definitely a good start on the project Shaping up
This is cool. Like going to Div’s School of Auto Art.
Makes me think I can do stuff like this. 😬
Also, when two guys get together and start talking about holes…😆
Other than your Chanel just rocks so does your entire music selection 😊
Looks great
A couple of very cool, very unique projects there.
Brother, you and Wayne are rocking this project as always. Enough cannot be said about a good helper(B-mechanic) The only thing better is a happy one and you sure have it in Wayne .PS I also don't like wearing shoes ever too!
Yeah, old Wayne is a treat🙂
Not finished but you got a fair bit accomplished! Rome wasnt built in a day. Keep it up,youll get there!
Thanks for another cool one Div!
It takes experience to see what you see Dif, I'm snagged, I will be watching to see what you see and enjoy every last minute of it. 👍
Thanks 👍
Really excited about this project, I can already tell its going to be ace once completed. 👍👍👍

When you and Wayne get together the banter is off the charts. This build will have all the rat rod potential with wifey comfort and elegance. Lekker you guys.
Now a ren rat rod
Hey Diff, I can't wait to see how this 1 turns out. It's going to be a great project. Hope the Wifey likes the end result. Cheers, Aussie Steve
Me too!😅
Just wondering, all I know about Africa is what I watch on tv😬 I sure do enjoy your videos, I had a lot of hot rods in my youth matter of fact all mine were across before they were cool . Everyone called them junk except me
Great content guy's thanks for sharing the good times.
Really enjoy your videos and projects. Keep em coming!
Thanks, will do!
You make this job look so easy for the crowd that never touched a screwdriver, Div. Thanks lots of folks here now how much work it needs. As always a great video, thanks!
Nice, thats going to be a cool little car
Volksnaut or Volksnot sounds good too!
I kinda like that!
Kind of like A SWAPMEET Kit Car. It will fit with a little sweet talking 😁💪
If you haven't heard of Merlins Old School Garage look up his series on his mini semi maybe give you some other ideas on the REO you 2 are birds of a feather have a LEKKA ONE 😅😂😊
Ja, Merlin is a cool dude! I prefer to keep the REO original, it's just to rare
31:34 Nice guitar riff!👍
You are looking good, I like it, You Sir are a talented Man.

Yoooo! Div, I enjoyed hanging with you guys in the shop. Enjoyed the laughter and you guys shooting the breeze. Im glad I wasnt eating when you guys had a look at the weed-eater cause that part had me laughing and I probally would have spit out my food!!! Excited for the next video!!! Great to have friends to hang in the shop with. Also excited to see your buddies progress on his project!!
Thanks boet, glad you enjoyed our carryings on!
@@ratrodsafrica 😃 👌
Gordini in Australia came in one colour and were very quick indeed. In your car Gordini running gear would have surprised many people
Cool vid I take it the motor is 1600 twin solex carbs my father brought a brand new vw variant sw in 1972 and that was our family car it done well for over a decade sat my licence in it. My brother keep crashing it. I wasn't allowed it by myself because of my older brother lol happy times 😁🇬🇸👍
1600 twin port, single carb
@@ratrodsafrica they go pretty good people used to use them for home built planes here now they use Subaru motors. Our one used to do a ton it may have had 2 carbs because of the flat floor being a sw I think the combie Van's had the twin carbs and the beetles the single which would be easier to work on. Going to be a fun build.
Hey Div,
Good to see the cutting get started on the body and tunal.
I love redesigning parts to make something that was never meant to be.
Having help to do some things is good if you are not in a hurry.
Like you, I seem to get more done working by myself because I do not have to explain to a helper or watcher who may have questions.
See ya next time.
Take Care OG
Little by little guys 👍
It's great when the guys get together for shop time.
Slow progress in good company is always great progress even if very little gets done, at least you got some French cut away from the car but it's probably gonna cry all night 😂😂😂😂
😂
12:16 Div I used guide studs when putting on VW wheels. Work smarter, not harder.
Didn't have any handy🙂
Ahh time to make some. Lol@@ratrodsafrica
17mm -19mm what's 2 mm between friends lol.. I like the delicate way your starting on the build . I'm sure others out there would have just cut the complete floor out . ..and just for confirmation that's a positive. no matter how big the shop is you never have enough space . Even if you had a field under cover you would still find things to fill it up till you ran out of room .. really liking the way this builds going just surprised Wednesday come round soo quick . Cheers Dif
but that 2mm shortfall might cause a fail in the satisfaction 101.
you lot are having too much fun but you have done a lot of work in a short amount of time well done keep up this pace and your wife will have a nice car to run around in untill next time have a good one
Is there such a thing as too much fun?😅
It's looking good, but sure is alot of trimming and testing. I will be doing the same thing next spring on my bug body going on the toyota pickup chassis. I'm looking forward to watching this build while I'm waiting for spring to arrive 👍
Testing, trimming, cutting is the name of the game 😄
Pity the weed eater didn't have wheels and a remote-control Diff also should of used a bucket to catch the grinding sparks all jokes aside looking forward to this project thanks
Dif give your helper a raise so he can buy some shoes, lol
You're blessed with a climate that is kind to old cars. If that had been over here all that would be left is 4 tyres the glass and the window rubbers.
They say rust never sleeps. Its on speed over here😁🤣
😄Does depend on where you are in South Africa
Really enjoying the channel. Thanks for the content.
Glad you enjoy it!
As always, Diff is creating a kick ass ride. Enjoying life, busting knuckles, cutting metal & having fun! Kickin' Ass Bruddha 💪🏼
Howzit brother Diff...
And wayne..
Y'all gettin it..
Ya just ain't got it yet.
Another great episode from..
RAT RODS FOR AFRICA...
Gettin, gettin but the got is still a long way off!😅
@@ratrodsafrica yep... Bob n myself have been on the 30 coupe, going on a year January...
@DonCatherman that's not bad going when we consider stuff like grey beards, old age pains and days off with pay!😂
@@ratrodsafrica 😆👍😎💯,, yepper...
If there’s a party in your neighborhood and Wayne is there, you’ll hear him laughing even if he’s 1 kilometer away !
😂True that!
Good video buddy. It’s great to see you with some pal’s man. And not working till midnight too. Life is short my brother and you have a great one going on out there. You’ve become my favorite channel for sometime now. Keep on keeping on my brother. 👍🏻✌🏻
Oh and , look at the weed wacker please !! Bwahahahahaa 🤣😂🤣. That’s good 😊
Hello from California my friend. God bless you eh?
Love the intro music 😂😂
Diff brother I'm one of your biggest American fans. I love what you do can't wait to see how your lovely wilfs car turns out. P.S. That Hudson looks killer keep up the great work. From my family to your family Happy Holidays to you brother
Thanks brother! Same your side
I'm a lot jealous of you two!:( You're working in shirt sleeves and barefoot while this morning when I went out to work on my old Ford it was 22 degrees F. It did warm up to about 32 degrees F ( 0 C) so all is good here in Wisconsin!
The time will come when it's the other way around 🙂
I just finished a video from Ian Russels channel and him and his wife talked about you 2 so I checked it out and LOVE what you're doing keep up the great work and greetings from the state of Michigan USA when I first saw that little yellow car I thought it was a VW Beetle little did I know you were swapping the VW under carriage into it
Thanks! Welcome to the shop!🙂
Thanks Diff, great to see you guys and the banter around the shop.
It's guna be a challenge, but looks like it will work, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones, have a Lekka one
We'll make it work!😅
I bought one of those Renaults in '74, for 5 bucks, with the intention of doing exactly the same thing as you are doing.
But ended up moving to Australia, and sold it. [for 10 bucks!]
At least you made a 100% profit!😂
Awsome video , great to see you friends enjoying and laughing in the shop ... I almost spit out my drink on the "toggle switch " comment ,, lol
😁
I am really liking this build!! I have a 75 beetle, its awesome to see how you are using beetle parts to make something so cool!!! Keep it going!!
Glad you enjoy it!👍
Ian Roussell gave you a big mention in his latest video. Says you are quite the pro. Full Custom Ian ep. 24
Yes, someone told me about this! I am completely surprised!
