- With the campaign of Star Trek Armada 2 completed, it's time for some instant action with our "not-so-friendly" AIs.
Let's first have a match in the "Gates" map. It is a default 8-player based map. Map rules are:
-Resources set to Lots
-Infinite resources
-Maximum officer limit
Please note that there are two changes to the game config file to replicate features in Armada 1:
-Officer limit has set to 9999
-Starbases require 0 officers to build - Ігри
I remember back when I was a teenager , I played this quiet a lot with a friend. Man the memories. We were watching in TV first TNG, then DS9 and at last Voyager. Afterwards, we played this game :) yea.. those were the times.
and I have to say, even though no one cares, but back then, Star Trek was , what it was supposed to be... The new Star Trek shows and movies.... they ain't that good! They lack the atmosphere imho.

Loved the hit and run attack on the Borg assembly line at the other end of the wormhole.
We definetly need a revised version on Steam of this masterpiece
Not sure if you're aware, but you can generate latinum if you build two trading stations and have a bunch of your own cargo ships going between them. The further the stations are from each other, the more latinum is generated.
Yes I am aware of that, but then I would have to secure a trading route in order to do so. Given the frequency of the AI's attack and strength, it would take quite a lot of officers to build and defend the route.
Klingon Campaign definitely the best campaign because it essentially revisits the DS9 episode The Way Of The Warrior only this time the Federation doesn't oppose the Klingons occupying Cardassia. The Neutral Zone mission in the Federation campaign also good since it is possible to get into a war with the Romulans.
Best Game Ever!! 😢 Oh yes Baby give it to him!!🎉😂😂
not often in a star trek game is a borg tactical cube actually more powerful than the tv series... lol Also tactical fusion cube was a great idea for the game. Made a realistic in cannon borg encounter.
Especially when its the tactical cube fushion mofo.... That thing is a monster.... 😅
@@gandalfthegay420 if you are playing multiplayer back it up with a couple of diamonds with the shield remodulation upgrade for an invincible tactical fusion cube!!!
Used to love doing this but it always bugged me that some AI players would just sit idle (like yellow in this example) & they’d never send fusion cubes at me - imagine 7 fusion cubes at once vs those starbases - what would win? 😂
No idea why the AIs won't build Fusion Cubes. But if they do, I am pretty sure that those Starbases won't stand a chance and I have definitely have to use Sovereigns and Temporal Stasis Fields to counter them.
amazing
Jeesh, you have hands like Data with that trade menu.
It's just spamming the keyboard hotkey and alternating mouse buttons.
@@jason_gamingHK I know but you were going turbo on the F keys to trade that fast.
@@racer927 It's just either pressing D/M keys and then alternating with the mouse buttons
I think he likes Star Bases😂 And you dont even need bunch of Ship legions, at least when you play as the borg. I simply need one fused borg cube and one diamond behind it, to launch its ability to be invincible thats how you clutch an 1v7 easily. Having some diamonds build and waiting is not a bad idea, they have ridiculous tiny amount of health. And btw to my starting point, why did you build so many Star bases😂😭 One is enough, build many torpedo turets around it, 3 are enough for one single cube/galaxy etc. Then imagine if you build 20 of them alog with some impulsive canons.
Nice play.
Question: "Early Upgrades" - what does it mean? How it modifies Standard Tech? I'm talking Federation.
Q2: Where can I find the game config file and what's it's name?
For Q.1, "Early Upgrades" means that the Ship Upgrade Facility will be able to build once you have built the Research Facility.
For Q.2, the game config file is called "RTS_CFG.h", you can find it in the Armada 2 Folder.
@@jason_gamingHK RTS_CFG.h can't be edited, it's extension must be .txt or .log, Windows can't open it :(
How did you edit it?
@@tricisport8259 You need to edit the folder privileges first, then you can edit the files.
are you sure you built enough starbases?
At least enough for defenses, I know they can't defend forever
@@jason_gamingHK I remember getting the file where I can build Earth primary base station and that sucker was huge, it took up the entire screen just about.
I think these in the original game are more like Outposts!
@@jason_gamingHK I dont know how about you, but in instant action its all about how fast you can take all other available resources. Build station there is needed, not near "base camp". I use to take firstly most of the planet, most of the dilitium rocks, which was easy because game AI was pretty much stupid even in hard level mode. Also same fire power could provide torpedo stations.
Nice, I pulled this out of storage and installed on my windows 10 machine, still plays. I did try playing the 1st Armada and my rig would not play it.
Had fun playing this game, but I hated how immobile the ships were. Battles were always done at full stop
Well, there are several tactical manoeuvres available in the command palette that will allow ships to perform while in combat, but I rarely use them, mostly I'll just strike head-on.
Also you don't use any battle formations? Fleets in different setups and different groups of ships. Now I need to go get this game and play it correctly
battle formations is a nice idea but i never found any use for them
How are you playing This game?? I'd love to play it again :(
Try searching for iso images of Armada 2 on the internet, then update the game to patch 1.2.5, that should allow you to play it again.
You only build in 2d and not 3d? You can move building higher or lower
Yes, I do know that, however given the AIs are not too smart enough to fully utilize the height advantage, my best bet would be stay in the Zero-Grid.
Units in queue, means resources tied up not actually doing anything…hoarding resources and units and not “doing anything”
Classic non competitive RTS style ….and thats how I played back then XD real opponants wont let you play this way.
Rule one : always have close to zero resources
Rule 2: constantly build workers/miners
Rule 3: constantly build structures
Rule 4: constantly build units.
If you have resources piling up, something in these steps is fundamentally broken.
Your income is exceeding your production capacity. Which is economically wasteful , income must immediately be transformed into either MORE INCOME SOURCES more production capacity, and more units.
And this teaches you how the military industrial complex and the world economy works also. Is actually kind of scary how much RTS teaches about capitalism
How do you get your officers to 9999 It can only go up 999
A simple modification of the cfg file
@@jason_gamingHK where do you find that file?
the game config file is called "RTS_CFG.h", you can find it in the Armada 2 folder, but to edit it, you have to adjust the folder privileges first, and then open the file with notepad/wordpad, either is fine :)
@@jason_gamingHK do you have some sort of a video or something about this file
@@tylerandersen8142 Google "armada 2 officer limit change" and you should be able to find loads of relevant info
If AI had any brain, by making 5 TF cubs you cant do crap :)
Indeed, Tactical Fusion Cubes are a pain in the ass to deal with.
Loved this game but the battles ended so fast
