I go to my fathers in whose mighty company, I shall not now feel ashamed.
\o
HAIL THEODEN, KING!
Theoden King!
R.I.P Bernard Hill bro, he's with Wilford Brimley now.
And Christopher Lee
I met Wilford Brimley a couple of times, he was a cool guy.
“For he was a gentle heart and a great king and kept his oaths; and he rose out of the shadows to a last fair morning.”
Hail the victorious dead!
Hail! 🍺
Hail!
hail
HAIL!
HAIL!
I will not say, “do not weep,” for not all tears are an evil.
RIP Mighty King
Bernard Hill, I hope wherever you are know just how much we loved and respected you.
I met him at a Con. Super nice guy and a great actor. RIP
In 1981, Bernard Hill was probably the most famous actor in the UK: "The Boys from the Blackstuff" was a Drama from the BBC that set the UK on fire. He played the immortal and insane Yosser Hughes and his desperate request to 'Gissa Job' became a catchphrase.
I saw him in 1976 in 'I Claudius' - alongside Captain Picard!
Not familiar with actor, but loved him in the two towers.
the only scene that got me tearing is him saying “no parent deserves to bury their son” delverd wonderfully by him
That scene gets me every time
@@thomad4same here 😢
His speech before the charge of the Riders of Rohan 🤌🏻
@@Cheeki_breeki6
That’s just amazing
Best portrayal of a king ever, fight me!
Facts.
No, I don't think I will. But who are the runners up I wonder? King Buliwyf in 13th Warrior was pretty awesome, granted his reign wasn't very long.
@@Jibjabberwocky you know what im stumped xD
And i really, really shouldnt be.
@@80sRetrosaur Same. . . So I googled a list of kings in movies and aside from screenrant calling emperor palpatine the #1 most "iconic king" which is a strange ass thing to call the emperor. There's really not many that come close, that I recall as far as actor's performances go, Hill is a high watermark.
@@Jibjabberwocky palpatine? That's a wierd one, dark lord sure but king?
Looks like we weren't the only ones who were stumped xD.
Hill will probably hold that title for quite a while if i had to guess, well deserved.
Nice one for the effort man.
May his spirit find its way to the halls of his fathers.
While I don't especially like elves coming to Helm's Deep, I do like how it ties to Theoden's lack of faith in alliances, which pretty much gets paid back when Gondor calls for help, and Theoden decides to help
I think it's fair to say that plot thread gets an A+ for intentions and a C for execution
Yeah that's one of the things where as a book purist I sit down all grumpy with my arms folded in disapproval, but as a movie-goer, I'm like, "heck yeah, the elves putting up one final defense as a gesture to mankind for their old alliance, and cool elf warriors fighting orcs!"
Hail Theoden King! Bernard Hill helped make Theoden my favorite character from the movies (second-favorite in the books behind Faramir). My favorite scene is still the Ride of the Rohirrim, where Theoden proves that he is anything but a lesser son of greater sires. Hail the victorious dead!
Same! Theoden for the movies, Faramir for the books. HAIL
I like the Faramir agenda. But yeah, Theoden is just awesome. Bernard Hill really knocked it out of the park with his portrayal.
Rest in Peace, Bernard Hill. We will always hold your performance as King Théoden in our hearts.
RIP King Bernard. You kneel to no one.
Man Bernard Hill's passing just made me remember that as time goes on watching these movies will just get sadder and sadder.
R.I.P. Bernard you legend of a man, may you be remembered forever!
I stopped what I was doing when I saw this. RIP, Bernard. Now for Wrath, now for Ruin, and the Red Dawn
"I go to my fathers. And even in their mighty company I shall not now be ashamed."
his performance in boys from the blackstuff is legendary, the Souness scene is gold
RIP King
He was the doctor in The Ghost and the Darkness. A great film!
The legend will continue to live on in our hearts forever.
Hail to the glorious dead!
Hail, to Bernard Hill!
Theodan's best character moment is how, after frequently showing his disdain for Gondor's absence as an ally to Rohan, when Gondor calls, Theodan dies not hesitate to throw everything he has to support them. The resulting charge at Pellenor field swayed the outcome entire war despite his fall to the witch-king. (Spoiler warning)
The Irish airline should have sales for one day every month, and just advertise it with a picture or vid of Theoden and the line, "Fourth! Aer Lingus!"
"Eorlingas"
I love Theoden and I already miss Bernard Hill. R.I.P., Legend.
One of the sections repeats at 6:16
Very sad news, he was a great actor and impacted millions of people R.I.P
RIP Bernard Hill
He was great in Titanic too. Just watched that again recently.
this is a really nice requiem in memory of Bernard Hill thanks MooLer . R.I.P Bernard Hill
A true king. RIP Bernard Hill
R.I.P Bernard Hill.
Hail the victorious dead!
Fantastic actor, hail the King! RIP.
There needs to be a Hot Toys 1/6 King Theoden…like NOW
“Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain on the mountain, like wind in the meadow. The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow”
RIP Bernard Hill. You brought Theoden to life. See you in the halls of Mandos.
Timely
Theoden , KING!!!
Its a hard decision, but Theoden is my favorite character. And I will never forget his actor ❤
Theres a repeated section.
"No. I would have you smile again, not grieve for those whose time has come. You shall live to see these days renewed. No more despair."
The charge at the Battle of Minas Tirith, his speech beforehand... Bernard Hill NAILED this role.
Rest in peace Bernard!
R.I.P to a legendary actor
This one really hit me. I didnt expect to cry but I couldn't help it.
Hail Theoden King!! Hope you've taken the throne in the big kingdom in heaven
Any Intel Grima would have, Saruman would have already gotten when he was controlling Theoden.
Legend, and one that shall inspire for years to come.
"“Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain on the mountain, like wind in the meadow. The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow.” [Théoden, King]
Bernard Hill will be remembered!
I am sooo looking forward to seeing this in theaters next month
RIP
RIP to a legend.
Many people forget how tragic Theoden's character was, truly an underappreciated gem... But then again, The Lord of the Rings is full of those.
Hail, Theoden King!
He was also in the BBC series "I, Claudius", minor role as the soldier who finds Claudius hiding behind a curtain after the assassination of Caligula.
Bernard Hill shall not feel ashamed in the company of his forefathers. RIP you fucking legend!
King Theoden and Boromir.
His best work here. What a lovely man and a powerful performance!
All hail Theoden KING!
Rest in peace Bernard Hill.
RIP King Theoden
Eternal hails to the King of the Golden Hall.
Every time I read LOTR, when I read about The Rohirrim. I can't help when I think of Theoden King. I always picture him due to Peter Jackson's casting.
Rip Bernard Hill
Hail for the Glorious King Theoden.
Rest in peace Bernard Hill, knowing that you brought to life a character that influenced the lives of many for the better, and gave many hours of enjoyment.
Also, MauLer, the clip at 6:17 got edited in twice (that one is the second time)
Most underrated:
Gamling:
Too few have come. We cannot defeat the armies of Mordor.
Theoden:
No we cannot...... But we will meet them in battle nonetheless. >:)
1:56 HAIL THEODEN KING ❤🙏🥺✝️
rest in peace, Bernard Hill. A true king that stuck to his beliefs
We will miss our defiant king, standing with the fans against RoP.
He also was in Wolf Hall
My favorite character. RIP, King
Aragon probably prevented Theodin from killing Wormtongue through Revenge and possibly Triggering a Reckless Blood Oath against Saurumon and Sauron.
such a great actor
How did this video not have his speech at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields 😭
There was never a better King than Theoden King.
Letting Wormtongue go.
Law of (un)intended consequences.
He throws the Palantir out of Orthanc, causing Pippin to look in it, triggering a premature attack on Gondor by Sauron because he thinks Saruman had the ring, then lost it to Gandalf. Aragorn then looks in the Palantir in Minas Tirith and causes Sauron to empty Mordor in readiness for Aragorn's attack on the Black Gate, allowing Frodo and Sam a clear run across Gorgoroth.
And Wormtongue is the one who kills the Maia Saruman at the end.
One point, Sauron thought Aragorn took the ring 🙂
RIP Bernard Hill. Not many celebrity deaths make me sad.
This one though. 😔
at 6:20 + you added the same convo twice. :)
RIP Bernard Hill.
R.I.P Theoden King!! 🤴🏼
“Fae he seemed, or the battle fury of his fathers ran like new found fire in his veins and he was born up on snowmane like a god of old. Even as Orume the great in the battle of the valar when the world was young.
His golden shield was uncovered and low. It shone like an image of the sun.”
RIP to the King
Theodan, despite mourning his son, and wreacked with guilt for being subverted by Saruman, is STILL the most effective leader we see, even more so than Aragorn. Imagine how he wouldve completely xhanged the tides of the war if he had been able to resist Saruman.
He shall go to his forefathers. Not in Shame but in Honour.
Rest in Peace Bernard Hill.
HAIL THE VICTORIOUS DEAD!
RIP to a great man who gave life to an incredible character! Hail Theoden, King!
The rest of us must remain, with the crap that is modern Hollywood... Alas that these evil days should be mine
Ghost and the Darkness is a great movie people sleep on. I lost my mind when I realized the doctor was Theoden.
May you rest in peace, with your fathers. Hail the victorous dead!!
Rest in peace Mr. Hill ❤
RIP legend.
RIP BERNARD HILL SAFE JOURNEY TO THE OTHER SIDE......
All hair theoden king
I didn't even know he was sick!
They are foils. Both lose a son. Both were manipulated by the Enemy. But only one gives into despair. Only one seeks counsel.
Fun fact for all you FAPers: The old English word for king is "théoden". Tolkien did this intentionally, implying a historical connection to his mythology.
In other words, Théoden, a man wracked with doubt over whether he was a worthy king, displayed such courage, wisdom, and valor in the face of ruin that his name became the word all men used to describe the qualities of a leader, and the standard all kings are held to.
Hail the victorious dead, hail Théoden, King of Rohan, and hail Bernard Hill.
I'm sure this just overlooked in editing, but at 5:50 there's a segment in there twice
Hail Bernard, my king! o7
Shame they announced a new LOTR focused on Gollum as if the game wasn't enough
Now for Wrath, Now for Ruin, and a Red Dawn!
F
FORTH EOLINGAS!! 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥
Hail the victorious dead. RIP
HAIL THEODEN KING! 🗡️
