The mainstream used to make good things. Star Wars was mainstream. Lord of the rings trilogy was mainstream and on and on. That’s not the issue. There is literally nothing that isn’t affected.
You know, I'd say 99% of things I loved have had some sort of bad sequel, remake, reboot, or been totally butchered beyond recognition. And I have a varied range when it comes to TV and movie from the start of the 20th century. The 1% that hasn't been touched, it is inevitable that they will one day. I just can't do this anymore. I'm going to stick with the physical media of all those old things and just watch the originals.

In the case of Star Wars it might really be true: Lucas was furious everyone hated his midichlorians and he wanted to make the entire sequel trilogy about them.

Midiclorians only create life, presumably by creating a connection to the Force as apparently life could not exist without hearing this will of the Force (this part is vague).
I think many fans of the saga think Midiclorians ARE the Force or what is creating the Force. But the Force is still the energy field binding everything just like in the OT, kind of like the "aether" or the causal structure of the universe transmitting messages from the past/future (its will).
Midiclorians simply expand upon the original lore of the Force in OT and explain its connection to living beings. The Force affect nonliving things as well. Its effect on those things are not due to Midiclorians.

As far as he was concerned, Siegel and Shuster were just two dumb kids who didn't have a clue what they had created and Byrne had to fix their mistakes. And this was just ONE of many examples of comic book fans spitting on the original creators in order to prop up their sacred cows (Batman fans dismissing Bill Finger in order to deify Frank Miller being another one). The whole "death of the author" concept has been going on for a long time now. It's just going mainstream at this point instead of festering under the surface.

Except in this case I think it's true. Remember: George Lucas wants to do the sequels entirely about midichlorians and was furious that the fans didn't love how he changed the Force to be all about them in the prequels. Sometimes authors do get lightning in a bottle which they don't really understand and thus can never ever replicate.

Allegorically the existence of brain cells doesn't undermine the existence and complexity of ones intellect. In prior canon, turning kids over to the Jedi was purely voluntary (or even getting tested for Force sensitivity). It was an honor to send them off, but there was nothing forcing you to say yes if your kid's force-sensitive. The Jedi also tended to scout out orphanages.
Plus if you were poor, your kid would be well taken care of and go on to do great things in the galaxy: better than growing up in a dumpster or something. Honestly pre-Clone Wars the job seemed mostly to be peacekeeping and mediation so it wasn't likely even as dangerous as being the Star Wars equivalent of a beat cop most of the time.
If the Jedi could just up and take any kid strong in The Force, there'd have been a LOT more than 10,000 Jedi in a galaxy of trillions of people during the Prequel era.
Jedis were good people. They're only flaw were that they become complacent and too rigid in their rules. They were afraid of Anakin's potential to join the dark side, so instead of helping him, they kept him away. Mace Windu seems to even dislike Anakin. Jedi also couldn't foresee a grand plan by Darth Sidious, allowing him to influence Anakin into joining the Dark side.

There was an interesting storyline in the holonet news articles prior to the release of AOTC (I think?) which dealt with a legal case of a family asking to get their child back from the Jedi. It's an interesting area of discussion, and would make for a good low-key story in a SW law genre (Coruscant cops?). But obviously it's not got enough scissoring witches to make the cut nowadays
One of the prequel books pretty clearly stated that jedi were invited and paid to be involved in a lot of stuff cause of their lie detection feelings. Also they were guarantors of negotiations. acolyte turning them into beat cops is just weird

@@RogueFox2185 I'm on my third re-watching. I've seen R1 I don't know how many times. There's like an energy I get from good Star Wars. It's not member berries, it's more like a mix of elements; editing and sound mainly but also atmosphere, costumes, characters, themes. The originals obviously set the stage but the prequels only gave it in scant patches. Plenty in PC games. The X-Wing games, Dark Forces games (a literal treasure trove of it), not KOTOR but they stood up just as good games, recently Fallen Order. R1 and Andor there is lashings of it and I'm like a junkie who hasn't had a fix for twenty years. The rest of Disney's outings? It's like I'm addicted to morphine and they're giving me aspirin.
Mando S3 was the final straw for me. I had no faith Ahsoka would be good after that, and all the reviews from Drinker and Disparu only reinforced that decision.

The Force Awakens broke Star Wars. I didn't realize it until after I suffered through The Last Jedi, which was by far the greater crime. Literally EVERY Disney Star Wars production has a flashback scene. Rey's parents, Luke attacking Kylo Ben, Mando being rescued, Andor being found, Boba Fett being found, Reva as a bungling, Anakin and Obi Wan sparring, Ahsoka in the Clone Wars. I'm sure I'm probably missing some but jeez...compare that to pre Disney Star Wars where you're thrown in at the deep end and expected to just use your brain to follow the story and understand the context. The story of Luke, Vader, Ben, were all told skillfully without the need for a flashback.

In star wars legends, specifically the novel "the courtship of princess leia", there is an entire cluster of star systems called the hapan system, run by the hapes consortium.

The reason why is that over 4000 years ago, the hapan cluster was filled with pirates that had a habit of raiding any ships that wandered into their cluster and uh... kidnapped the most pretty women they could find for... pleasure. This lead into the hapan cluster natives becoming the 10/10s they were known for, but they were oppressed by the evil pirates. That is until 300 bby, when the jedi came and defeated them.
The hapan women decided that no male would ever rule over them and so installed a matriarchal autocracy where men are basically treated as the scum of the earth unless youre royalty. They were the ones doing all the labor jobs and whatnot.

sadly they said in the opening " a hundred years before the rise of the empire." implying that this is just one century before the end of the clone wars and the rise of the empire so it would be the year 123 BBY that this takes place. which is 87 years before the events of episode I, which takes place 33 BBY if my math is correct. the word is written you cant say they meant hundreds of years, they should have said, "hundreds of years before the rise of the empire" if that's what they meant
its also worrying that's a lot closer to the prequals than i think anyone originally thought, any closer and I'd be really scared.
