I wish we got to see more of Zanarkand, it was one of the most mind blowingly beautiful cities I've seen in videogames. But I guess knowing so little about it made it all the more interesting.
I think it's better that way, they just wanted us to assume that Zanarkand was a really advaced city with a lot of technology and not so many tasks for the human being so people would have a lot of free time to socialize. You know, elaborating about a city were it's not necesary to work in order to make it functional would be a little bit dissapointing don't you think?
it's like reading a good book, your imagination fills in the details, and sometimes seeing it depicted afterwards is actually disappointing because you dreamed of something better.

Zanarkand always had an ethereal and magical feel to it. Of course you have the beautiful city built on the ocean, with water features and dreamy lighting. But I'm realizing it's also the sky in Zanarkand. You have a sunset and at the same time you can see the stars above. Can't beat that.
I don't know how it is for other age groups, but I was around 11 or 12 when it came out, so to me the game was a part of my childhood and part of growing up. It's hard to describe, but it just feels like a part of me from that time. A remake even of the best quality won't add to or affect what has already taken place. That being said, I agree I personally don't need a remake, but wouldn't be against it either.
@@azrielsmith3167 Its not gonna change one bit how people like the original one. Some may hate the remake but others might not. Why not if they're not doing anything new? I would love for FFX to not have fixed cameras and updated graphics like the cutscenes did. Might give beautiful new scenes or screenshots like FF15's.
@@abominablesnowman64 well...I remember pining for the day FFX-2 would come out and that was a complete disaster, so if that is any indication, best to leave well enough alone. But, of course, making a new game doesn't change the original one you can still play. To me, it just runs a 99% chance of crapping on the legacy vs. the 1% chance it will wind up being any good. I can still enjoy terminator 2 despite the endless sequels which have nothing to do with the original creators, but each turd that hits theaters detracts that much more from how good the original franchise was.

Have you given FF VI a try (3 in the US at the time of release, in case others don't know)? I'm hoping to try Phantasy Star one day, and even Lunar. Heard great things about them. FF 3 (VI) was my first introduction to RPGs back in the mid 90s when I was a kid, so I probably have a natural bias there, but it really was a magical experience that I've never been able to replicate with any other game. Part of that I'm sure is getting older and expanding my sense of wonder to the real world, but that particular game imprinted on me hard, and the music was a big part of it too. I spent some time playing the FF X HD remaster some years back, and yes, as you get older and overcome bigger challenges and experience greater emotional highs and lows in life, games tend to take a back seat, so it's hard for me to fault it, but it didn't hit the same. I'm sure it will for millions of other people, but that maybe just goes to show that we don't need to have a consensus as to what the best game is overall - what matters is what was OUR favorites, just like with music. They can all be great in their own way, and have their own unique meanings to ourselves. Or even between RPG franchises. I don't usually type out this much for video game comments since i barely play anymore, but just putting it out there into the ether.
@@docmadhattan Haven't tried FF3 but maybe it's worth looking into, definitely cool to discover the music though here on UA-cam. Same goes for Zelda breath of the wild and its ambient music, not a player but I can appreciate it. Like you said it's worth having that unique meaning with the music and imagery more so than grinding levels in the game itself.

It's impossible to focus on the beauty of tidus's theme with all these annoying ads that pop like crazy because you wanted money out of this. Also, the sound effects are very uninspired and lazy, barely being heard at all. Zanarkand cannot have sounded so blank for a big metropolis filled with so many people. Bad choice.

What a beautiful but sad adventure Final Fantasy 10 was. This is one of those games that sure I would love to get a remake, but it doesn't need one.
