Try not to strip the whole top off the mountain. Plant some new trees to prevent soil erosion once in a while.
    Keep up the good work.
Have you researched ground cover options for soil erosion in forested areas with steep slopes?

I have cleared the necessary areas for my log yard and drying rack im done in the areas shown in the video. I have 48 logs on the rack guessing it was 35ish trees, drying for next year however most of them were from different areas on the property. The trees on the slopes where im not adding road/trail I will leave the stumps behind to have the root balls help with errosion. Once I am done with mitigation I believe it may be possible to grow some native grasses on these slopes. I have to check with the state forresty guys as they oversee the project and have to inspect it yearly for approval to tax status. The issue is as it sits now very little grows due to no sun, so I am exposing holes in the canopy to allow sun in. The deer and elk will be greatful I'm sure. I have not gotten into the extremely over grown stuff yet, there was actually already mitigation done where I have been working about a decade ago, it just grows back. With so many trees all fighting for the very limited resources we have in the soil here it stunts the growth of all of the trees so I am primarily thinning douglas fur trees out of the ponderosa pine.

@@Mountaintoptractor Good to hear you are working on mitigation practices. You might want to sress best practices in your vidios to help the viewers. It is tough working on steep slopes without causing erosion problems. Trees work best, but non-invasive plants come in second. Highway engineers run into difficulty stabilizing slopes during and after road construction. Hex cell grids work to stabalize loose soils, but are cost prohibitive for most homeowners.

Not as scary as the other one!
