@@Kraken-ub7qdno man's sky was absolutely hated upon release due to a ton of bugs and unfulfilled promises, but then they just kept working on the game and they have since fulfilled everything and way more content. they still update the game with tons of new stuff for free, when tons of it wouldve been a dlc had it been any other game.
The visual and audio design of the antlers might be my favourite in the game now. The increasing burning when you get more stacks, the gentle chime when a wisp spawns... Love it.
Friend of mine called the Antlers basically just Hunter's Harpoon but for white items, and I told em that the antlers are like a consensual version of them, which makes them infinitely better. Items are great, but yeah they need adjustments. Growth nectar went from neat to almost game-breaking good and just guaranteed me a victory against Mithrix twice.
3:20 tbf, half the reason to rate recycler so much higher over exec card is because you can re-roll any equipment and have a higher chance of getting a card on the stage anyway, so you have a chance of getting the item benefit of the card. Not the time benefit since you have to reroll + won't get the money back for most chests but yk.
5:16 I just realized that this fact explains why time is so much less of a factor in RoR2 than in 1/returns. Proc chains aren't a thing in the original game or returns, so you scale much less exponentially.
The reworked items seem pretty fun and interesting, and phase one of the roadmap came a lot quicker than I expected. I think I'll still wait to see how the character revamp goes, and cross my fingers for more official bugfixes, but I'm much more optimistic about the game's future than before.
They said this update came out so fast because they were working heavily on it before the announcement was made, so the next two might take longer, but yeah I'm eager to see the improvements!
First run after a month and I got an insane death mark synergy with the new items and x2 growth nectar + 8 buffs. Brought the light back for this game for me
I was playing with friends the other day and we all stacked up breaching fins and I had void band as a joke. Mythrics stayed floating the whole fight. That was the most fun I’ve had since dlc update
A lot of these items like lantern, Chronic expansion, and elusive antlers feel like green items with how much they can do. a soldier syringe is 14% while lantern can give 40% and i get its conditional but most conditional white items are like 20% and don't stack exponentially either.
For the risk of chaos suggestion: the fake teleport gives you a timed combat shrine trigger, if you dont complete it on time you get a tonic affliction
i like the idea, especially for the 'sidequest' style where you have to shift objectives from what you normally do, but i think there's another event that just gives you a tonic affliction straight up
0:24 that mod should actually be a base fetaure for the Recycler, adding a risk and reward deal. Where through ingame reasons, the recycler can also push time forward if you force it to be ready, however unlike the mod to give a good reason to actually wait for the recycler the time jumps a Minute instead of 45 seconds, putting risk for being impaitent. it would actually balance that fetaure because the enemy scaling getting worse could make whatever Item you chose to risk worth it or Irellevant.
I've logged a few runs post update and the game plays so much better now. It's leaps and bounds ahead of what it was. I would say some of the item reworks are borderline OP but I'm not complaining because they're extremely fun to use (looking at you, fin).
Had a run where I got War bonds. I would describe it as "Daddy Warbucks freedom delivery directly to Mithrix's face" to a friend. These item changes feel more like they belong now. See where this leads Gearbox in the next update.
they need to make Genesis Loop proc before Unstable Transmitter because otherwise it just never procs. imo, Gloop should be the first "low hp" item to proc, ever. including before Old War Stealthkit, to maximise its synergies and so that i can actually proc sometimes 😭
6:04 To my knowledge, wecho doesn't multiply the effectiveness of RAPs, they're bypassed completely by it. Planula has the same interaction, and new to the rework so does Tougher Times. Kind of disappointing. It almost feels like the devs aren't sure whether they want it to synergize with other items or not.
There’s a new bug with that new gold attack! Since gold enemies team kill, the gold attack spikes will spawn gold from enemies and drones, and can make you frikkin rich
3:19 It gave that person those items that run. The other half the time it gives you queen's gland, knurl, aegis, and two seer's lenses. Obviously item quality on average goes up with two chances for a great item, but a lot of the time it's even odds to get a better or worse roll the second time. Versus the likes of free items from card, free items from gun, heavy damage from capacitor, or build-specific compliments like FMP? Recycler is good but it's not a run maker
7:18 the Item would've been atleast good if it like did something like other Enhancers do, were they have a small way to give effectiveness even if you don't have what they enhance. Ignition Tank should have this, just it isn't as effective as having the Item it enhances, Like 20% chance to Ignite on hit. So Wake of Vultures should have a Constat Elite Buff that switches every 10 seconds in a set pattern(and that Elite buffs on Survivors need to be changed to fit their gameplay) From the most effective first so as Soon as pick the item up, it gives you an immense boost, like it provides Perfection, then Voidtouched, Then Overloaded, Then Blazing, Then Gilded, Then Twisted, then Urchin, Then Glacial, Then Spectral and Then Mending. Though because this creates a problem of too metaing, espically from it's other important effect, I'd rather have it be Random and do with what you have for 10 seconds. Each stack would add an extra buff to the base, killing an elite buff you already have extends the duration of that specific buff. reaching maximum provides a unique Elite buff, buts thats only in the rare case you ever get there.
I can really feel the overall buff in the loot im getting. Its great in terms of getting an enjoyable run more consistently, but it gives me the impression that item optimization wont be very important to complete a run safely anymore
Regardless im extremely satisfied with the overall gamefeel after this update. The elites and items were the biggest thing keeping me from booting the game up. Why turn the game on when i know the loop is going to be bad items -> gold elites punishing me for continuing at low dps -> loop to have some playable items -> oops twisted elite
does the mod that make chance shrines/3D print/scrapper instant also extend the time of your run by the equivalent, like the recycler cooldown mod does?
''Kind of good'' a biiiit of an understatement, I bet you could sit a new player down and by the end of the week they'd be beating Eclipse 8 consistently with these items in the game lol
I just noticed that there was a Void Purity. I know there are 3 mods that do that, but which one do you use? There is BloomPuritySwap, PhilsBenthicPuritySwap and ScoresPhilsBenthicPuritySwap.
Full looting is pretty much always the way to go but by no means is it the only way. I think I've held this opinion of the fact RoR2 is very skill based. Items impact your run for sure, but the more skillful you are, the less you actually need them to succeed. RoR2 is such an anomaly for roguelikes. You can do anything and find success if you're good enough. I really don't understand why people think their way is the best way. Just do what's fun.
doing what's fun is the RIGHT way, but full looting is the easiest way to win. you can win using any strategy though and I implore you to keep that up (✿◡‿◡)
New items are almost all OP. But I think that's smart. The game should be fun, and being OP is indeed fun. It should be possible to nerf them by just making the current effect achieved after a few stacks, and that should be good imo. Also maybe remove the proc-co from Warbands lol
My friend has adapted a play style even worse than the 5 minutes a stage method, where they beat the game in 15-20 minutes. I have no idea how they get consistent wins but maybe they’re on to something.
Recycler is the best equipment mfs when they get 4 equipment trishops, a card, a recycler, and a cherf printer stage three and proceed to not get any gun whatsoever. I am in immeasurable pain please help
they went from way too weak to way too strong. Kinda what I was hoping wouldn't happen. Hopefully they get adjusted because having every run become a god run just isn't very fun.
True, but what’s important to me is that the concept of the items and how they change the way you play is really good. For most of them, they just need to have some numbers tweaked. It’s clear that Gearbox is listening to us now and I’m sure they’ve heard how the items are over-tuned by now.
Do some of those updated items not feel too strong? I feel like we went from 70% of the DLC items are DOA never pick up to 70% of the DLC items just absurdly outscale almost every base game item. Some of the greens feel like they're too strong to be a green but not strong enough to be a red
they definitely are lol, breaching fin and transmitter are a little bugged as well to be better than they should, the concepts are fun we just need to dial some things back lol
You could make that argument but ultimately I feel what we have now is way better for the health of the game, even if some are a bit over tuned. These reworks have actual synergies that change moment to moment gameplay, but more importantly than that they’re actually fun to use now.
a couple are bugged to be stronger than they should, I'm sure they'll also be heavily nerfed. Concept first, numbers balance second. I understand from their pov as well, they couldnt afford to come out with items that were shit again lol, had to ride the line of being a bit strong im sure
@RacesVideos that's understandable. I do think that boringly op is at least entertaining most of the time, as opposed to boringly underpowered, which just kinda sucks always
I love all the new items but i think they should've kept at least 3 of the items as objectively bad, for power creep reasons. Every run is a guaranteed win now, unless you die to a Scavenger with insane items or somehow die to a Twisted Elite or something similar
