Another thing about a melee act is you want to use your leaves to just slam into the enemy, Their damage is quite frankly ridiculous... If you're using regularly, Alt-Weep is just a terrible ability, particularly even at its own use case, because they can only ever charge one stack of itself at a time, So my recommendation, if you want to play melee accurate, which is actually quite good. Well, I main loader with alt shift and I like it more because I don't have to charge it and I don't fly away half a map to kill a single wisp. I also run default special for more mobility. You can learn ways to get out of danger quickly, mainly backup mags or lunar m1 as a way to deal with scary monsters without having to fist them. Mainly it results in a playstyle where you jump around and shift nearest enemy on cd, and everything dies. You can actually aim where the AOE goes by looking in the direction on the impact. So you can for example punch a mob infront of you, but flick the camera and zap mobs behind you. Probably is weaker and more dangerous then all default, yeah, but man is it comfy to play..

Bubble shield blocking wisps and golem lasers is what makes me prefer it. If you put a turret in a goofy spot where they take no melee damage, then you can effectively make stationary turrets invincible during the shields uptime. That's how I run them. There are enough item based ways to deal with airborne enemies that I usually just prefer to drop turrets and shield and run.
Beginner tip for loader: Sprint while you’re doing stuff. That’s literally it. You can sprint while grappling for faster grapples, and sprint while charging punches.
I'd also suggest double nailgun power mode MUL-T. It's my go-to for her, because when you stop firing the nailgun, it makes a shotgun blast that knocks you back, so with double nailgun, you can stop them both at once for a boost/dodge backwards, and two of them at the same time makes for a lot of procs.
Love when people call mobile turrets bad and one of the main points is "no bungus so bad" its mainly down to personal preference, although technically stationary is stronger, both are completely viable and very fun outside of that, great video
I know stationary turrets absolutely are stronger but I still find myself using mobile turrets more simply because I find them more fun. Having this silly turret walking around with you is a blast.
I mean moving turrets could be good if they reworked it so the laser actually works with some items Like imagine the shuriken plays if it could throw them all at once activating bands among many others I mean with the new item buffs it might be good with the enemy teleport thing that gives you barrier
For MUL-T, you can use double rebar puncher and everytime you shoot hold down the shoot button while you’re switching to make it really fast with good damage
taking a shock beacon on captain is still really nice especially for later stages bc you can just trap a bunch of enemies in there. by the time you get to the later stages you dont have money problems anymore anyways
2:19 this is wrong. You can actually proc bands with phase blast if you hit 3 targets in a row. Doesnt change that you dont want to pick phase blast because of the bug and because the burst is so much better on the alternate.
one thing of note for loader is even though her spiked fist gives a bit more versatility i prefer default because i can swing off enemies without procing bands so i can save it for my big boy hit, and pylon can deal with the pests
As a Railgunner main, in my experimentation, Sniper secondary kinda falls off on longer runs given with attack speed the rate of fire doesn't go up that much, while both Sniper and Marksman have the same Proc Coefficient meaning Marksman is better for proccing items and making it more suited for longer runs PLUS... It's higher fire rate while still being strong lets it generally 1-2 shot flying enemies very quickly while Marksman has to find a target, shoot, reload and repeat requiring a lot more time to take out swarms unless you have aoe items built in. In my experience, Sniper is fun, but needs a proc coefficient buff to say... 2.0 to be a good side-grade compared to Marksman over longer runs. Oh and you mentioned backup mags on Sniper but see, if you don't reload after the first shot the buff is already consumed meaning every backup mags shot doesn't have the bonus making it pointless meaning backup mags is always a scrapper item for Railgunner...
Yea, I think I like using the default kit more (for the BIG NUMBERS) and is crazy strong even as is, but I find Cryocharge and especially Marksman to be EASIER to use cause of that rate of fire. They don't leave me screwed if I'm very frequently skill issued and can't get my perfect shot. ...Also yeah I say don't grab mags with her on either secondary lmao
15:20 eviscerate is better at dealing with dangerous enemies. Especially with the addition of lysate cell. Also the whole point of mercenary is learning how to weave out of lethal damage range. For elder lemurs just wait for them to flame breath and right click behind them, if they do the fireball shotgun then simply sidestep LOL. Every enemy can be pretty easily dealt with with mercenary tbh, he has so many i-frames that the only thing that consistently kills him is dealing with several dangerous enemies at once like bells, lemurs, and pests
thunderslam is really good because you can combine it with charged gauntlet you can very fast and do a ton of damage with both, if you do it and time it right.
Mercenary should keep his blinding assault instead of focused assault, since with timing, you can retain the hit box for the hit that does expose while you dash, pretty much giving you more movement and range with a relatively similar damage
Loader: I like using her default loadout except for the secondary. I don't need to swing from wisps and blind pests; I'm perfectly comfortable taking away that capability to have a ranged attack with a stun that still allows me to do my Spider-Man things from surfaces, big enemies, and my Pylon. I don't need the AOE attack because my punches can be lined up to hit enough enemies at a time anyway, and then I get more MOVSPD and some crowd control items to solve all my problems.
Bit of thought on Commando phase round, the upward tilt has been a thing since forever (and as a mod fix since forever too, must have imo) and legit is the best brand procker for Commando. Only takes 2 enemies. Also with the bug modded away, the aoe of it is really nice. Making enemies be in a straight line is legit not that difficult with some movement finesse, but we Eclipse bois got that :)
Would say that railgunner's alt secondary is better for deeper runs, as it scales incredibly well with attack speed, though getting enough attack speed in a single loop run may be unlikely. However, the default is just much more satisfying to use and can work wonders with backup mags
I really hope there comes a point where the unlocks aren't just upgrades/downgrades to their play style with or without much visual differences. And that the unlock methods are more enjoyable than cheesing on Drizzle or fucking praying the stars align (Commando's Overloading Worm/Merc's Prismatic Challenge)
"Scrap Launcher is like Artificer but worse" Artificer's primary recharges one ammo per cooldown. Scrap Launcher recharges all of its ammo in one cooldown. I rest my case.
I think i prefer lights out to desperado, to be honest. Pair it with a damage item and a few ukeleles, and it scratches that same part of the brain that ricoshots and coin shots in ultrakill do. The dopamine hit you get from watching that revolver spin and watching the lightning spark? _Exquisite,_ my friends. And the damage spread is pretty good too.
Same here It's definitely feels nice to sneak out that kill on a giant guy to fill up everything Especially with hardlight lysite and b mags it just I like a clean sleight
All this is facts but I find orangutan loader to be more consistent for eclipse. Being able to hold your utility instead of launching immediately is super useful! Since you deal more damage the faster you are moving, being able to plan out and line up one super huge fast punch to kill the boss is always satisfying. I used to like the fist that pulls wisps but I find myself using the movement of the fist way more than the damage. Thunderslam is fun, but the pylon gives extra mobility and it’s a fairly safe way to whittle down phase 4 mithrix.
as a Huntress main that uses Strafe instead of Flurry, I find Strafe to have MUCH more consistent damage overall when factoring in if an enemy dies to a single Crit arrow, you are still waiting the entire incredibly long wind down time of the full six arrow barrage without doing any damage.
Yep. Flurry effing sucks for the first few stages and there is where all the real difficulty is. Huntress has not a lot of damage but ballista and m2 does the work, she doesn't need more m1 damage later into the run.
I prefer to replace suppressive fire / frags with ruin using essense of herrasy Easy to build alot of stacks, free debuff and band proc (if multiple enemies are debuffed then go closest to the enemy you wanna proc bands on)
mobile turrets are amazing if, and only if, you can get spare drone parts. the spare drone parts weapons have much longer targeting ranges than the turret laser, and can still proc the turrets items. all the range advantage of stationary turrets, but with mobility. however, stationary turrets just work so well with little to no effort, so unless you're playing with artifact of command just use stationary ones.
I'm on an old gen console the alternate secondary on commando stops working when too much is going on in the game. Also, I believe the piercing shots had that bug from the beginning, at least with my experience on old gen.
7:26 "as the run gets later and later, its gonna be harder to get those kills (with the R ability)" this same thing also applies to desperado, so its kinda invalid as an argument
Huntress primary choice is one of my favourite in the game. They're well balanced, although the game never seems to give me crit when I'm using flurry, I do enjoy the fact I can more easily flick with it and do decent damage because of how its a bit weird in targeting. Huge contrast to the Arrow rain vs Ballista because the latter is just so much better. I'm personally a normal Blink enjoyer though. Apart from when I have a lot of movement speed. Gets much harder to use because it just sends you way too far, though tbf just the fact Phase blink doesnt give you vertical mobility means I hate it, used it like twice and just aint for me. Also oh damn that woodland skin is goated. Pleasee gearbox please please make the DLC worth buying i want the pretty skins and maps and sale star but can't justify it presently (especially with only just starting grinding out eclipse for the existing chars).
I find Nanobomb to be much better than Cast Nanospear as if nanobomb clears out wisps easily due to the tendrils and has really good AOE and damage. In the case of Mithrix, if he gets under execute threshold, I can just use the guillotine (snap freeze) to execute him anyway. Picking Nanobomb makes her much more versatile as Cast Nanospear, as although it is good, overlaps with snapfreeze in a lot of categories, whereas Nanobomb is kinda more of a unique staple in Artificer's kit. I'd highly reccomend using nanobomb for the increased damage and aoe, if you are a cast nano spear user, i reccomend throwing on bomb for a run and just test it out, I found it alot more versatile and had a positive impact on my runs. "A jack of all trades is a master of none, though oftentimes better than a master of one, however pick whichever you find most fun" is my wisdom. pick your poison, or blight, even if ones better. Loved this video overall, very cool, but you did miss that phase round can proc bands on the second enemy :D (i use it but i also use attack direction fix mod so its actually fun, so cant speak on its balance (also direction bug always been a thing))
Ok but have you ever considered that with blinding assault u can go zoomies AND get nostalgia by pretending that ur getting a good nanoblade off in odub
I would consider myself a loader "main" as in i play them the most. The stunning gauntlet sucks imo, always use the charge gauntlet as its big fat nut damage when you got bands and focus crystals on you. Only alternate skill i use is ground slam honestly, the drone is useful if you really hate wisps and blind pests (especially blind pests) but the slam is just another big fat damage skill that can also just bring you to the ground faster as i mainly play a spider man loader who is hyper mobile with grapple hooks and charge punching them till they die
I use mobile turrent, and I can explain why, it's literally just fun. they give you the ability to use focus crystal and self harm more reliably, they can also use the fuel cell in one of the most questionable damage sources in the game since they walk up to enemies away from you. just quirky and fun, those stationary is better for meta, mobile is better for my heart.
all of these seem fine except loader is abysmal on loader you basically always want spiked fist and charged gauntlet. thunderslam vs pylon is somewhat up to preference though pylon gives you: anti-air, bands on aqueduct without potrolling, better movement, bigger aoe thunderslam: better for dealing with enemies in your face, more damaging aoe, slampunch tech (incredibly op if youre good at it, otherwise meh). always take spiked fist if you use thunderslam because otherwise you have no anti-air
The DLC released in a very bad state. It was very buggy (Most of it has been fixed now) item were a very mixed bag with some overpowered and some useless items (They revamped it just today so i don't know how successfully they fixed that) and the new survivor are not great (They plan to fix it in the future). Overall it was a disastrous launch BUT they seem committed to fixing their mistakes and make it a good DLC
I still don't understad why so many people use whirlwind on mercenary instead of rising thunder. Less damage, slower to use, arguably works worse as a mobility skill.
It's AOE(so, more damage), you can hold the button and run faster, when rising thunder slows you down, also works as a stall in a midair(take a purity and you can just fly). Arguably easier to land a hit with(thus, again, more damage overall).
As a merc main I think he has the most balanced loadout in the entire game, as in both base and alt skills are really good Except for blinding assault it's kinda ass

outside of that, great video
I know stationary turrets absolutely are stronger but I still find myself using mobile turrets more simply because I find them more fun. Having this silly turret walking around with you is a blast.
I like the strategic part of clever turret placing so it doesn't get blasted instantly(mainly eclipse issue, but still)
I mean moving turrets could be good if they reworked it so the laser actually works with some items
Like imagine the shuriken plays if it could throw them all at once activating bands among many others
I mean with the new item buffs it might be good with the enemy teleport thing that gives you barrier
Erhm akshully you said frag was the only thing that can proc bands, but phase round can proc bands if it pierces enough times
You can use the grenade's bounce to proc brillant behemoth.
i liked the commando bit at the start would be cool if u made a vid on every one
ty king. i probably will
DUDE THATS THE SAME LOADOUT I USE WHEN I PLAY VOID FIEND!
omg twins
Personally I go for the alternate shift its just too good to give up
@@theplague5803 aka strides of heresy lol
For MUL-T, you can use double rebar puncher and everytime you shoot hold down the shoot button while you’re switching to make it really fast with good damage
taking a shock beacon on captain is still really nice especially for later stages bc you can just trap a bunch of enemies in there. by the time you get to the later stages you dont have money problems anymore anyways
2:19 this is wrong. You can actually proc bands with phase blast if you hit 3 targets in a row.
Doesnt change that you dont want to pick phase blast because of the bug and because the burst is so much better on the alternate.
10/10, I had to explain to my friend who's new to ror2 that the video was a joke and that blight is still bad
one thing of note for loader is even though her spiked fist gives a bit more versatility i prefer default because i can swing off enemies without procing bands so i can save it for my big boy hit, and pylon can deal with the pests
"we love rndthursday!"
I chant to myself, alone
surrounded by hundreds of people
*they are all schizo imagined in my head*
I liked the commando section I could feel your train of thought
Dude says Mercenary as Merc-en-ary instead of Mer-cen-ary... skill issue.
0:31 this has been a thing since forever... rare non sots bug actually...
0:36 OMG I THOUGHT I WAS GOING CRAZY WITH THE PIERCE
0:33 that's been a bug since forever, even before seekers of the storm. There's a mod to fix it.
It's not even really a bug, it's just how Hopoo coded the angle of projectiles with a 3rd person view.
Minor correction: Rex’s default secondary and special are actually the self-damaging ones.
And that the unlock methods are more enjoyable than cheesing on Drizzle or fucking praying the stars align (Commando's Overloading Worm/Merc's Prismatic Challenge)
lights out more like sharts out high five
✋
You can proc bands with commando with its default m2 quite consistently if you can hit three enemies at once
You should for sure go over each ability in the future 👍🏼
"Scrap Launcher is like Artificer but worse"
Artificer's primary recharges one ammo per cooldown.
Same here
It's definitely feels nice to sneak out that kill on a giant guy to fill up everything
Especially with hardlight lysite and b mags it just I like a clean sleight
I prefer to replace suppressive fire / frags with ruin using essense of herrasy
Easy to build alot of stacks, free debuff and band proc (if multiple enemies are debuffed then go closest to the enemy you wanna proc bands on)
I have now managed to beat false son thanks to this
mobile turrets are amazing if, and only if, you can get spare drone parts. the spare drone parts weapons have much longer targeting ranges than the turret laser, and can still proc the turrets items. all the range advantage of stationary turrets, but with mobility.
however, stationary turrets just work so well with little to no effort, so unless you're playing with artifact of command just use stationary ones.
We are so back
Pierce bug has been in the game since launch
I feel like yes chef should be the passive that activates if you hit a single enemy with all 4 abilities
I'm on an old gen console the alternate secondary on commando stops working when too much is going on in the game. Also, I believe the piercing shots had that bug from the beginning, at least with my experience on old gen.
The Pierce Bug exists since Survivors of the Void
7:26 "as the run gets later and later, its gonna be harder to get those kills (with the R ability)" this same thing also applies to desperado, so its kinda invalid as an argument
wat? sometimes yall like to argue just to argue lol. thats a crazy statement
it'll be just as hard at first but will then start to become easier and easier as opposed to just staying hard
Mods in this video? Specifically the mod that tells you stage completion at 6:53
stagerecap!
is it bad I asked myself "where is void fiend?"
Whilst blight sucks compared to poison it’s incredibly fun imo and worth trying out
this is true
Just use blights "playstyle" while using poison for even more fun
Does anyone know whats used to display the stats at 2:21? I'd like to know, as not knowing my stats during a run bothers me sometimes.
Loved this video overall, very cool, but you did miss that phase round can proc bands on the second enemy :D
(i use it but i also use attack direction fix mod so its actually fun, so cant speak on its balance (also direction bug always been a thing))
Mando is perfect >w< i love him so much
Ok but have you ever considered that with blinding assault u can go zoomies AND get nostalgia by pretending that ur getting a good nanoblade off in odub
frag grenade also stuns, I just prefer it in general since commando struggles with aoe and frag grenade honestly does not suck as an option for that
Nice earthbound reference with that song
Merkinary
Yeah explain us all the load outs please!
In time, you shall repent from your heretical doubts of the commando’s might.
All loader default but alt grapple is best. Thunder gauntlet is inferior
True
I use mobile turrent, and I can explain why, it's literally just fun. they give you the ability to use focus crystal and self harm more reliably, they can also use the fuel cell in one of the most questionable damage sources in the game since they walk up to enemies away from you. just quirky and fun, those stationary is better for meta, mobile is better for my heart.
fair xd. i was more talking about the people who say they're better. if ur on pc you should download the better mobile turrets mod. they go crazy
all of these seem fine except loader is abysmal
on loader you basically always want spiked fist and charged gauntlet. thunderslam vs pylon is somewhat up to preference though
pylon gives you: anti-air, bands on aqueduct without potrolling, better movement, bigger aoe
thunderslam: better for dealing with enemies in your face, more damaging aoe, slampunch tech (incredibly op if youre good at it, otherwise meh). always take spiked fist if you use thunderslam because otherwise you have no anti-air
There is a fun around mobile turrets... you only need to take a power cell.
Yes, you will die a lot from them.
I haven't played RoR2 in a hot minute, what's the new update like? I know a new company took over producing it so I'm a little skeptical.
not great rn tbh
The DLC released in a very bad state. It was very buggy (Most of it has been fixed now) item were a very mixed bag with some overpowered and some useless items (They revamped it just today so i don't know how successfully they fixed that) and the new survivor are not great (They plan to fix it in the future).
Overall it was a disastrous launch BUT they seem committed to fixing their mistakes and make it a good DLC
Abilities I’ll always replace with heresy- commando special, captain secondary, engineer primary. MAYBE Rex utility. Occasionally acrid and loader m1
Wouldn’t recommend taking visions on engie, it changes his turret’s attack too, and it’s a huge downgrade. If you use mobile turrets though, go crazy
@@thiccum2668 does it change the mobile turrets' targeting range so they can hit things from far away?
@@catpip_ I think it does
21:00 we just not gonna talk about alt secondary + predatory instincts?
When are we getting the Loadouts for the TRUE DLC that is Starstorm 2?
As a loader player I tend to use alt secondary and utility, but default special,. I find it just a tad faster, imo
Double nailgun MUL-T is free wins every time
0:16 someone get me that pea shooter now
I still don't understad why so many people use whirlwind on mercenary instead of rising thunder.
We all know that the only way to play mul-t is double saw with power mode
💯
I like the new antlers quite a bit! They make me zippy! Are they the best choice for movement? Probably not. Are they more fun? To me they are!
I thought you were going to say "Chef's best loadout is [otherCharacter] until the rework"
that would have been funnier than i could ever be
Merkenary?? Dont let this guy cook
5:44 why did the beetle queen ball just bounce off him
thats how beetle queen balls work. if ur in the air they bounce off you
16:00 "this is rex's default kit" NO IT'S NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a merc main I think he has the most balanced loadout in the entire game, as in both base and alt skills are really good
Except for blinding assault it's kinda ass
