"MVS is a game thats really easy to get mad at". Truer words have never been said. Smash can occasionally bring out my salt, but MVS regularly feels extremely frustrating. And I havent been able to put my finger on exactly WHY, but I figure it's because so much of the game's BS is so free to execute. When you get exploded it feels like cheese, not like an expression of skill.

Another big issue with movement is that they chamged the way that fast fall works. It feels like you're deploying a parachute everytime you tey to fast fall 😂
Thats exactly what my problem is too, i feel like jump height might also have somethin to do with it but really fix jumps/fastfall and make parry more reliable, and a overall hitbox fix update and that would solve most gameplay issues I tend to have left

If the want to fix the aerial movement in this game they need to: 1-reduce shorthops and increase ( slightly) full hops; 2-reduce ne amount of aerials that totally stall your vertical momentum, or at least make so that the ones that do it act more subtly; 3-make so that landing with an aerial cuts your endlag significantly. Aditionally, i believe they could add edgecanceling for landing aerials and code the platforms and ground to make it possible to dodgeland horizontaly
You’re so right about the fulfilling thing. Deadlock and 2XKO are great examples but also Valorant. It’s one of the biggest games in the world and its not easy AT ALL. But its so fulfilling to get your first 3k or to rank up. Winning in MVS just isnt fulfilling at all. If I win with a OP character I feel disgusting. If I win with a weak character im not happy bc of the 7 minutes of struggle I just went thru. The game is just too simple and cheesy. So being smart doesnt even feel rewarding. Thats why I want them to make it at least a lil more competitive.
Absolutely. Half the characters dodge directly after an attack and vise versa. Either speed the game back up or balance all this shit. It drives me nuts the game has been out so long and they csnt figure out the balancing. I'm so closed to quitting

I was playing ranked 2v2 and I had a plat duo queue sitting on top of each other spamming grounded neutral on Jack and Arya. They covered the whole stage, they covered each other, and they could it repeatedly. I was playing Jason and there was legit nothing I could do and my teammate wasn't the greatest. I couldn't approach from the air because I was just too slow to punish them and I can outrun the range to hit them after the attack. 0 fucking wiff lag made this possible.
Yup i agree. This game is such a spam fest and 2s specifically suffers because of this. Samurai jack spamming that sword dashing, shaggy side special spam, etc etc I feel theres so many moves that have no intention of being anything other a move to throw and hit without repercussions.
i loved this video because its construstive, it dosent just degrade the game like others. with that said, i feel like they need more testers for characters when they change them, im scared them changong mechanics may add stupid thats that go overlooked
experimental queue can be an option instead of messing with perks, like yes its a good way but it can also harm if the perk became too good and u end up forcing everyone to have this perk to win instead of it being just a optional playstyle, like adding wave dash as a perk is gonna make some characters way much better than others, so it might create some unbalance, so i think that adding experimental queue to test stuff out before release would be great
Do not bring back dodge cancels out of charge attacks There's literally no risk or counter play when characters like Buggs will charge side air and cancel it with no way to punish it Also they need to add character collision so you can't attack through or walk through your opponent So many times you can just miss an attack cause you phased through your opponent last second
Yes the new movement speed is slow compared to the beta but I will honestly take this over the dodge spam mess that was the beta where characters can dodge jump from one end to the map and cover over half the stage I would like to see shields be added so the only defensive option isn't just running away
I would very much enjoy faster full dodge reaction, it frustrates me knowing whats coming, reacting to it and not able to punish because attacks aren't fast enough
Unpopular opinion, but I think it would be interesting if all characters could use Stevens Armor Shield. Multiversus already has a solution to Shielding which is Armor breaking attacks so they wouldn't have to add grabs to the game, but they would need to give characters more attacks that can break armor, I think there are characters who don't even have one.
Really interesting point with the jump height. Honestly It feels so bad not being able to really use air attacks because they are so telegraphed. You basically have to burn meter to do a down dodge hop to create mixup for air attack plays
I feel the same way about the jump and side air. Especially against shorter fighters I can’t jump and side air hit them because I’ll just miss due to their heights and the height of my jump. What they need to try to do is give the ability to hop step almost like smash bros stick diagonal jump which opens up a lot of air abilities and combos on the floor. Now some people would be able to start combos using side airs instead of having to jump first
most of the people that wanted shields have already gone back to playing smash/rivals2. adding shields now will make the game go from 4000 active players to 400.

I think the problem with these parries in multiversus is how they seem to be a “catch-all” without any drawback past landing one. In RoA, jabs couldn’t be parried, forcing placers to act smart about when they throw it out, (plus longer end lag ofc) I think multiversus has the right ideas with a lot of things but unfortunately drops the ball on execution

im more agreed with your vision than the more generalist one from the video you did react to its cool that MVS tries to push some original gameplay and not just be a clone with good skins but yeah the big big points you were right about IMO are 1- stop removing things from the gameplay to make it "more accessible" 2- add more options to remove some of the linearity of the gameplay (like the minimum jump height) and 3- fix those F ing hitboxes and hurtboxes especially the amount of active frame and the "hit forward but still deal damage behind with no visual logic" also too many easy cheesy frustrating spammable mechanix from some characters, while some others only have terrible frame data to a point where it, in some matchups, feels like the opponent can just infinite spam without any punish window love on y'all
Im so sorry I just really hope the devs listen to Bam and not Void. It seems like Bam really understands what people want from the game and void (while not wrong for this) just has very personal and unique takes that is what he likes personally but not the community at large
What I like (or maybe just find interesting) is how many people want to see MVS get better. It shows that the game has potential, but it's just not reaching it. Of course, everyone has their own opinion that other people won't agree with, and I know there isn't a "perfect solution," but I do prefer a complex game that provides proper tutorials and opportunities for casual players. I just hope the constructive complaints shine through the wave of... well, the other stuff.
I dont think dodging and parrying are a big issue but i think hitboxes are the number 1 thing they need to address and balancing. Its crazy how unfair some of the match ups are because of certain character kits just being better then others.
Dodge is not strong lmao. There’s no point in dodging in this game when it barely works and if someone is spamming all you’re doing is dodging a single move just to get hit by the other.
2 piques my interest! Infinite is such an underutilized (and frankly, terribly written) character. He was made off of design alone and no thought put behind him. Just like Sonic 06! I love Infinite's design and powers, and i could tell they were going for a Reverse-Flash for Shadow and have him be in more material afterward. I honestly dont really know why they anchored him to sonic when he was basically created due to Shadow's comment. Infinite would work (pun incoming) infinitely better as a side antagonist for Sonic, but largely be explored and have a full character arc in a longer, more thought out Episode Shadow. (Which, i guess they kinda did..?) Anyway, I think its crazy how hyped up this villain was only for his game to suck and him be basically killed offscreen, with a nigh 0% chance to return. But that only means they had to have bigger plans for him! ...Right..?
The dodge mechanic should be a purely defensive maneuver with a longer recovery and distance that it covers, you also shouldn't be able to cancel into it or from it What we should have is a DASH mechanic that is much faster, can be canceled into or out of, and most importantly... DOESN'T HAVE INVINCIBILITY

Hitboxes need jesus, and I feel passive play is so prominent in the game. It makes so many characters feel so boring to face and sets become the slogfest. Obviously, I'd like to see a more dynamic meta opposed to the same top-tier characters remain top tier. Additionally, I feel there's a problem where characters are encouraged to go for the same move or combo for many characters. Maybe just more options? And tuning down stronger ones. Off the top of my head, Joker. LOTS of combo potential, but uh, they just go for jab jab dair dspecial upair. For the passive play, I think jab needs to be a bit weaker across the board.
I swear if they dont add shields or some sort of blocking/better defense mechanics i am so done with multiversus the lack of defense options sucks dodging is not enough and the parry system sucks
See, I like how good jabs are in the game, I like that they nerfed them in neutral, and... I don't like how hard it is to combo off of anything else - especially aerials. Jabs being good is cool - jabs being so overcentric to people's combo game universally is an issue. edit: Directional based blocking is also a thing in Fraymakers, and - correct me if im wrong - i believe that came first. Very good game, just a shame update progress is so slow nobody remembers it. edit2: The minimum jump height issue is probably my biggest issue with the game tbh. Its why its so hard to pressure with aerials, so hard to move around, and part of why jabs and grounded moves are so overdominant edit3: I LOVE the perk system, but in the beta there were so many options and different characters got value out of different things, while in the current version, so many options are the right choice for most of the cast, with the variety existing mostly for niche cases or projectile characters.
Theres so much they could have done with the perk system but they even toned it down. The signature perks are so lame and situational that 90% of the time i just take the 5% dmg boost

I think the perk system hinders improvement. In practice, perks are altering the game-state in a flimsy way. They should make the game better in a concrete way. They should focus on frame-data and hitboxes. Start-up and attack decay. Normal fighter measures that will bring up the baseline. It's infuriating getting hit from the back of a hitbox when the opponent is facing away. We do not get rewarded for positioning. We get rewarded for waiting which makes the game feel terrible. In no other fighter must you dodge and wait till the enemies animation (for an attack he wiffs on in the opposite direction) in order to engage. Fast fall is clunky. Movement is so slow they had to increase it in 1v1. Adding tech from other games before fixing what is fundamentally wrong with combat. Active hitboxes on wiffed moves. Animation and hitbox DO NOT line-up. The list goes on... Instead add PPG. GGWP
PFG should have just handed off the beta build to another dev team cause they did everything wrong that year hiatus and 5 month period of silence before that 🥴

There is are a few very off-putting issues and mechanics that make this game just feel off compared to every single other PF fighter in existence (regardless of how different from each other each of those games are). There is an argument to be made that brawlout had better game feel and movement compared to Multiverse. It’s not a game killer, I love this game and I love that they are willing to make wild changes while it’s young to make it an overall better game, but they definitely need to do more work
NO. Absolutely not. That’s a smash bros thing, not multiversus. The counter is your shield, and that’s as close enough as we need to get. What they need to do is stop nerfing Harley…. But its all good because we’ll always be the best

The big mistake that they should have worked on more is applying more cool down abilities / longer attack spam delay abilities in a game that doesn’t have shielding like smash.
Shields and grabs go hand in hand. We need them both. Also need that teching When we hit the ground and we actually hit the button, so I don't get comboed to 100 off one jab combo. The auto teching is cool but feels like it's good if you keep missing your techs.
Perks being completely underutilized is 1 of the biggest downfalls. This game could have so much more creativity and player expression but they’re afraid to break the game 😔 LET ME DO FUN STUFF

Dodge is horrible in this game the amount of times I dodged behind somebody and still get hit from behind while my opponent is facing the other direction is uncountable.
Overhaul the visuals so they don’t look like a mobile phone game, put a bunch of the sauce back in (such as jumping into follow-ups off of attacks) and make the rifts playable
Can we quit pretending like this game is supposed to be for casuals lol. It’s just not and at this point it will die if they don’t realize that and make the game faster like most people want. No matter how they do it all the end lag and input lag needs to go, movements feeling sluggish needs to go. Increasing cooldown for moves that already have massive timers is lazy and incentivises camping even more(in fact, all cooldowns for meele attacks should be reduced for this dame reason). Jake and Velma are lame ass characters, just saying they should be buffed is bad if you don't push for changes that don't keep their insuferable playsyle. The problem with Joker biggest issue is not the crowbar. If anything, they could make the grounded version a bit weeker end make baloon weeker aswell. He's main issue is that he's neutral tools are stupid. Joker card is way to good, fart has a stupid hitbox and so does the cane. I'd slightly increse the cooldown for cards and make do that joker card cant break through armour. Then they just need to give hip dicent hitboxes on he's air especials and done! Oh, and nerf wiff dodgimg downair, it together with fart and cane makes he's aerial gane insane for no reason. As for Shaggy, nerf he's up especial, remove he's ability to complitely ignore the endlag of his dash attack with dodge, slightly reduce the vertical range of he's DA, and give him a cooldown rotation for he's sandwiches (like Harley's plushes)

One way to fix it is instead of adding new characters fix the ones they already got then once they do that instead of adding random characters either do a pull of characters to choose from or pick popular characters from different shows like how Batman is popular in general. They could add Deadpool wolverine maybe even teen titan characters like robin

Fix the hit boxes. I think its stupid that I'm behind someone and I get hit by THEIR jab combo when I try hitting them from behind

I think the solution is just to add short hops and and make the parry window on neutral dodge a little more forgiving. Like 2 or 3 frames

Im so sorry I just really hope the devs listen to Bam and not Void. It seems like Bam really understands what people want from the game and void (while not wrong for this) just has very personal and unique takes that is what he likes personally but not the community at large
What I like (or maybe just find interesting) is how many people want to see MVS get better. It shows that the game has potential, but it's just not reaching it. Of course, everyone has their own opinion that other people won't agree with, and I know there isn't a "perfect solution," but I do prefer a complex game that provides proper tutorials and opportunities for casual players.
I just hope the constructive complaints shine through the wave of... well, the other stuff.
I dont think dodging and parrying are a big issue but i think hitboxes are the number 1 thing they need to address and balancing. Its crazy how unfair some of the match ups are because of certain character kits just being better then others.

Infinite is such an underutilized (and frankly, terribly written) character. He was made off of design alone and no thought put behind him. Just like Sonic 06!
I love Infinite's design and powers, and i could tell they were going for a Reverse-Flash for Shadow and have him be in more material afterward. I honestly dont really know why they anchored him to sonic when he was basically created due to Shadow's comment. Infinite would work (pun incoming) infinitely better as a side antagonist for Sonic, but largely be explored and have a full character arc in a longer, more thought out Episode Shadow. (Which, i guess they kinda did..?)
Anyway, I think its crazy how hyped up this villain was only for his game to suck and him be basically killed offscreen, with a nigh 0% chance to return.
But that only means they had to have bigger plans for him! ...Right..?

The dodge mechanic should be a purely defensive maneuver with a longer recovery and distance that it covers, you also shouldn't be able to cancel into it or from it
What we should have is a DASH mechanic that is much faster, can be canceled into or out of, and most importantly... DOESN'T HAVE INVINCIBILITY

I launched the game for the first time since beta, couldn't buy anything in the shop or get any new character using tickets from the beta, never playing the game again
Hitboxes need jesus, and I feel passive play is so prominent in the game. It makes so many characters feel so boring to face and sets become the slogfest.
Obviously, I'd like to see a more dynamic meta opposed to the same top-tier characters remain top tier.
Additionally, I feel there's a problem where characters are encouraged to go for the same move or combo for many characters. Maybe just more options? And tuning down stronger ones. Off the top of my head, Joker. LOTS of combo potential, but uh, they just go for jab jab dair dspecial upair.
For the passive play, I think jab needs to be a bit weaker across the board.
I swear if they dont add shields or some sort of blocking/better defense mechanics i am so done with multiversus the lack of defense options sucks dodging is not enough and the parry system sucks
See, I like how good jabs are in the game, I like that they nerfed them in neutral, and... I don't like how hard it is to combo off of anything else - especially aerials.
Jabs being good is cool - jabs being so overcentric to people's combo game universally is an issue.
edit: Directional based blocking is also a thing in Fraymakers, and - correct me if im wrong - i believe that came first. Very good game, just a shame update progress is so slow nobody remembers it.
edit2: The minimum jump height issue is probably my biggest issue with the game tbh. Its why its so hard to pressure with aerials, so hard to move around, and part of why jabs and grounded moves are so overdominant
edit3: I LOVE the perk system, but in the beta there were so many options and different characters got value out of different things, while in the current version, so many options are the right choice for most of the cast, with the variety existing mostly for niche cases or projectile characters.
Theres so much they could have done with the perk system but they even toned it down. The signature perks are so lame and situational that 90% of the time i just take the 5% dmg boost

I think the perk system hinders improvement. In practice, perks are altering the game-state in a flimsy way. They should make the game better in a concrete way. They should focus on frame-data and hitboxes. Start-up and attack decay. Normal fighter measures that will bring up the baseline. It's infuriating getting hit from the back of a hitbox when the opponent is facing away. We do not get rewarded for positioning. We get rewarded for waiting which makes the game feel terrible. In no other fighter must you dodge and wait till the enemies animation (for an attack he wiffs on in the opposite direction) in order to engage.
Fast fall is clunky.
Movement is so slow they had to increase it in 1v1.
Adding tech from other games before fixing what is fundamentally wrong with combat.
Active hitboxes on wiffed moves.
Animation and hitbox DO NOT line-up.
The list goes on...
Instead add PPG.

NO. Absolutely not. That’s a smash bros thing, not multiversus. The counter is your shield, and that’s as close enough as we need to get. What they need to do is stop nerfing Harley…. But its all good because we’ll always be the best
I was having a lot of fun with the game. But I feel like this game has too many spammers. People just find a gimmick that works for them and spams it none stop.
The big mistake that they should have worked on more is applying more cool down abilities / longer attack spam delay abilities in a game that doesn’t have shielding like smash.

Shields and grabs go hand in hand. We need them both. Also need that teching When we hit the ground and we actually hit the button, so I don't get comboed to 100 off one jab combo. The auto teching is cool but feels like it's good if you keep missing your techs.
Perks being completely underutilized is 1 of the biggest downfalls. This game could have so much more creativity and player expression but they’re afraid to break the game 😔

Dodge is horrible in this game the amount of times I dodged behind somebody and still get hit from behind while my opponent is facing the other direction is uncountable.
Overhaul the visuals so they don’t look like a mobile phone game, put a bunch of the sauce back in (such as jumping into follow-ups off of attacks) and make the rifts playable

Can we quit pretending like this game is supposed to be for casuals lol. It’s just not and at this point it will die if they don’t realize that and make the game faster like most people want. No matter how they do it all the end lag and input lag needs to go, movements feeling sluggish needs to go. We just want faster gameplay everything else is basically okay aside from some balance issues.

Dodge system: When a player is out of dodge meter the player will no longer be able to dodge just like when a player has no jumps or specials on the air.
recovery frames: players should not be able to dodge out of certain attacks like slides/dash attacks or ringout moves

characters: nerf shaggy, nerf WW armor attack (cooldown) nerf joke crowbar for the love of god..buff jake buff velma buff finn buff superman

Increasing cooldown for moves that already have massive timers is lazy and incentivises camping even more(in fact, all cooldowns for meele attacks should be reduced for this dame reason). Jake and Velma are lame ass characters, just saying they should be buffed is bad if you don't push for changes that don't keep their insuferable playsyle. The problem with Joker biggest issue is not the crowbar. If anything, they could make the grounded version a bit weeker end make baloon weeker aswell. He's main issue is that he's neutral tools are stupid. Joker card is way to good, fart has a stupid hitbox and so does the cane. I'd slightly increse the cooldown for cards and make do that joker card cant break through armour. Then they just need to give hip dicent hitboxes on he's air especials and done! Oh, and nerf wiff dodgimg downair, it together with fart and cane makes he's aerial gane insane for no reason.
As for Shaggy, nerf he's up especial, remove he's ability to complitely ignore the endlag of his dash attack with dodge, slightly reduce the vertical range of he's DA, and give him a cooldown rotation for he's sandwiches (like Harley's plushes)

It lame? Almost every platform fighter has some form of blocking. It adds complexity to neutral interactions, instead of just mashing in each others face

you can't. it's shit lol. season 3 will be hype for a week due to PPG and then the player count will decline once again. my only issue with the game honestly is balancing. they listen to casual bums who don't know how to play and they kill the character i play each patch lol. when you take away cool things and creative options that i once had it makes me not want to play. make bugs nair have old combos (don't add back loops), fix batman dash attacks, fix harley consistency, fix reindog everything and then ill consider playing your game again. 😁 until then, let it die
