    The archer is the main contributor to accuracy. Practice often and know the bow and arrows and be skilled at reading the conditions, and there is no reason that this outfit can’t win.

    This was a very good review!! A bit long, but you covered everything I wanted to know about it. I'm looking at a couple of these as an upgrade for my son, as a hunting bow. One is the Stinger X, the other is the Drop Tine SX, which I believe is the same exact bow, just a special name for a certain big chain store. I wasnt sure about it at first, but now I'm confident that this will be a good bow for him. Thank you for the excellent review!

    Steve, Thank you very much for this review. I went to Bass Pro Shops and they happened to have this bow on sale with an "accessory package". This is my first bow, and I am very new to the sport. I guess I got very lucky that this bow was on such a great sale and the people there were amazing to get it set up for my arm length and all of that.
    I was considering going to a local archery shop to ask them if they could teach me about my bow, but you just did it for the world for free! Cheers mate!

    Thanks! You sold me on this bow. I bought a Cabela's exclusive PSE Gobbler which is the PSE Stinger X 60 lbs accessorized and set it up this weekend. Comes factory set to 29" which is my draw length, and has a wide range of draw length adjustability. Dialed it 3 turns out for about 55 lbs which lengthened the brace and draw 1/4" requiring a shorter D loop and adjustment of string stop. Installed a Truglo Strom capture rest which has a plastic hard bottom and side brushes set to 0.5 mm away from brush contact. Center shot was best 1.5 mm the left of the center of the groove on the arrow shelf, which turned out to be dead center of the throat of the grip. I found out I needed 1/4" to 3/8" nock high to prevent the nock end of the bare shaft from hitting the bottom of the rest and being whacked nock high on the target. After making that adjustment, it is grouping nearly as well as my expensive heavy target bows, with bare shafts hitting the same spot as fletched arrows. I may try to tune cable length twist to get a lower nock height but will need limb adaptor brackets for my portable bow press. High nocking point probably due to the solo cam vertical nock travel and the hardness of the rest I am using. ACC 390 spine arrows shoot better than weaker ACC 500 spine arrows. Very light, easy to handle and adjust, but recommend bar shaft tuning to set nock height. Noticed the numbers on the four limbs are all different with higher numbers on the bottom limbs. I assume this is not random and must be to compensate for tiller and/or cam lean.

    Thanks for your in depth expert review. I was looking to buy this bow from an Australian supplier but after shipping costs and import duty, it was better to buy from a local supplier (I live in NZ). Sadly we get gouged in New Zealand and the RTS package cost me NZ$760. Hopefully, I should receive it next week. I confess that I've never shot a compound bow before and my experience is mostly with primitive bare bows although I do own a couple of recurves with sights. Anyway, keep up the good work.

    Best beginner bow I've ever shot, And I've shot bowtech, mathews, hoyt, and my favorite pse, hands down to me was the SAS Feud. Picked it up off amazon and its hands down a phenominal bow especially for $200-$300 depending on the package you buy it with. it would be a good bow for you to do a review on for sure. Especially for anyone looking for a cheaper way to get into archery to see if they like it.

      Because it is so light, has a draw stop and good limbs. People shoot so well with it. It honestly amazes me. I see people and kids shooting these bows who shoot scores equal to and better than people who have spent 4 or 5 times what they have.

    Hello from the UK. Yeah that's right l'm a Pommy. I have just subscribed to your Fantastic Channel. I LOVE your Honesty on All the different bows. I am 60 years old and got back Problems Would a diamond edge sb-1 Be okay for me I trust your opinion. Oh And I should Of said "G'day, I have got the diamond Prism Shooting it at About 47lbs love it but the hand grip to small for my hand.my son has the PSE Stinger X I just Don't want the same as his ( for Obvious reasons ) You know what it's like!

    • @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale
      @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale  7 років тому

      The issue with the Edge is it goes to 70# which you will never use. So you need to wind the bow down. Winding the bow down decreases the performance of the bow. Also the Edge does not have a draw stop, it does not have the compression limbs.
      I would buy the same bow as your son. That way you have the same gear. My partner and her daughter have the same bow. It means you can compete based on skill and not equipment.

    • @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale

      Oh already done that one. The bow is branded. It is the Topoint I think it is the T1? then they have the T3 which is the copy of the Mathews Chill. With this bow you can add your own brand to it. Not a bad bow. You just need to compare price. It is cheaper than the Stinger. In Australia it is $100 less. Not as good as the Stinger in my opinion. Because of warranty and no draw stops. But it is a machined riser.

    • @ccleadge
      @ccleadge 6 років тому

      depends if you prefer a thick grip vs a narrow grip.
      the Singer X will have a smother draw and be noticeably lighter to hold in the hand. both will have similar speed with the stinger on its performance setting.
      both will be a good bow.
      personally i would go with the stinger.
      i shoot a mission ballistic and my partner a stinger (which if im honest wish i had one also, but im after a longer axle to axle now).
      when i shoot her bow its more obvious when i have poor form as the groupings show it worse than with the ballistic.

    • @scotteger6271
      @scotteger6271 4 роки тому

      If you mean a peep in the string they're not necessary. They help a little but this guy shoots so much it becomes intuitive after a point. If you anchor in the same spot everytime the pins of your sight will fall into place

      @scotteger6271 4 роки тому

      Clayton I see this was unanswered...I realize it's a year old comment so you probably already bought something or figured it out, but what is your draw length being so tall? The newer PSE Drive 3b XL goes to a 32" draw and is a little longer axle to axle so that might be a good starter bow for you, if you haven't purchased anything. Steve has a review of the Drive and Drive XL.

    Would you prefer the Stinger-x over the Kinetic Heretic? Kinetic is allegedly the budget brand of Win&Win and the guy at my bowshop praises it a lot. Price is almost the same, but the Kinetic has a machined riser, metal limb pockets and hybrid cams. It is a bit heavier and a bit longer though.

    • @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale
      @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale  6 років тому +1

      I shot that bow. The Win and Win is no longer made and was more expensive. I struggled to sell the win and win. I shot the win and win very well. The stinger has more adjustment. The Stinger uses the gg limbs which are good limbs. People shoot great scores with the Stinger. So win and win is fine.

    • @mariuszsch.79
      @mariuszsch.79 6 років тому

      Thank you so much for the answer!!! :) Also, do you think the w&w would be a lot faster? I could find no IBO data about it. The cams are a lot more aggressive, the letoff is around 70% and the valley is VERY short, I was able to draw one in the shop. My feeling is that the stinger is probably a lot easier to master and if the w&w is not a lot faster I'll probably go with the stinger.

    • @scotteger6271
      @scotteger6271 4 роки тому

      On lower end bows like this they are plastic pockets, but the limb bolt is supported in metal. Also keep in mind these companies designed it to be this way. Modern polymers (plastics) are very strong. Glock has been making plastic guns for a long time and other big companies as well. Watch some torture tests of plastic Magpul magazines and I think you will understand. Once you see a full size SUV drive over a plastic magazine and its unharmed you get the impression that nothing I'll do day to day will be that extreme.

    • @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale
      @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale  5 років тому +1

      So I personally don't rate warranty, although for the customer they are great. I had a guy this week with a 10 year old PSE. PSE replaced the bow. Now as a consumer I never claim warranty. So I would buy the Stinger as ot is a better bow. Stinger I can shoot great scores with. Saying that when I was a kid and I was broke I brought a bow second. I did not notice the crack in the limb and the broke after 2 weeks and that was 2 years wages for me. However my new York had previously cracked a limb and The supplier would not give me limbs. PSE is a great company Stinger is the most sold bow and very few problems. second hand should be half price but new strings are 1/4 of the price.

      Archery Supplies ok thanks and btw what are your thoughts on the Martin Afflictor? Looking into getting it.

    • @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale
      @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale  7 років тому +1

      I like the Afflictor - good limbs. Very adjustable in weight. The problem with it you can have is when you change the poundage by changing the string length you can have an issue with the cable and cam wear. This is due to cam lean. Then you need to move the cam position. But most people will not have this issue. Only an issue when adjusted and on maximum draw length.

    • @dunno6442
      @dunno6442 7 років тому

      Archery Supplies Righto, well I'm gonna sell my stinger x and get an Afflictor due to the stinger x just being to small for my liking. Plus my mate showed me his Martin blade x4 which looked really nice in person and the Afflictor looks even better in my opinion so can't wait! Oh and it helps heaps now the price has gone down a lot 😂 have a good one mate 👍

    The string stop is only for dampening, Great for hunting. That is what it is made for.

    can I shoot cheap 30" aluminum or fiberglass arrows with that bow ??

    • @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale
      @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale  7 років тому +1

      Yes - But I wouldn't. Carbon arrows last you forever. The arrows I use I shoot about 100 arrows a day. I have not broken any. When I shot alloy I broke a dozen a month. If I shot alloy now I would break more than that a month. Because when the arrow hits the arrow it will break. Fiberglass is heavy and will not shoot well.
      You are taking a good bow and saying can I shoot crap arrow - yes you can but you will get poor results and it will cost you more money.

    You probably don't give out things or might not even see this comment but please can I have the worse or your least favorite compound bow I've been trying to get my hands on one but me nor my parents have the money to buy one. Please respond if you say no I understand

      My parents made me buy all my own archery equipment. I worked at Woolies (supermarket for $5 and hour). I rolled papers from Midnight till 6 for $10. Then I weekends I delivered papers to letter boxes for $20 for 1,000. Archery gear today is actually cheaper than when I started. The bow I brought second hand which broke after 2-3 weeks was $500. It was a Martin Cougar. My first compound was $50 second hand.
      I won the Australian championships at 14 broke the Australian records with cheap gear. That is all I could afford. I had to buy my own clothes and everything.
      There are always people willing to pay you to do work. I need painting done, gardening done.
      You just get a job and work your way up. I appreciate what I have today - because I had to work so hard for it.
      I work 7 days a week. I don't recall having a holiday. I don't drink or smoke. I work and do archery.
      My dad died at Christmas - he was doing ok - I got nothing. Which is ok, because I work for what I have. I don't rip people off, I provide good service at a good price and people come back. I guess I have 40,000 customers, most I have had for years.

    for some reason PSE's website is not available "Error establishing a database connection".
    I need to contact them ASAP, as I have a cam issue. Can you give me please their email address? I bought couple of months ago a PSE dream season decree because you said that their CS is top notch. I'm not in US and I have no Facebook account. Thx Stephen

      You contact the shop or any PSE shop and they will get you the part. It is very simple. You just need your serial number.
