For me, I would use the dry hinge method (having used vinyl for about 15 years), but you seem to have the application worked out great.

Great tutorial! I'm getting ready to do my Fourth Wing set just like this but can't decide between permanent vinyl or htv.
Thanks! Now that I've become more familiar with the htv I prefer it only because to the touch it almost doesn't feel on the cover
