Oh my, your house in the forest is an absolute dream come true!! That took me by surprise, I was so engaged in following you along the process. 😄 So I just had to comment! Thank you for showing the whole process, I started edge painting books but it's so time consuming and I think I'll soon purchase a Cricut. Your video was very helpful
Thank you for this beautiful tutorial. I have a book event that I’ll be an author at next September and I plan on doing this to my hardcovers and selling them.
I love this tutorial so much! Have you ever tried this with multiple paint colors? For example, spraying the edges solid purple, laying the vinyl on top of that, and then spraying them again with solid black to create a multi-layer colored effect? I have several books I would like to do this to, but wanted to get some input before trying it out with layers.
I don't, but I basically repeated the pattern and then put it in a rectangle the same size as my pages. I should do a full tutorial, though! Thanks for the suggestion.
my thing tho that i have a problem with is creating and sizing it to the book. I want to create my own designs so that i can add it to my favorite books, and then size them. how do I create the designs?
I make my designs in Adobe Illustrator (see my free series here: ua-cam.com/video/hNKfp1sQUEg/v-deo.html). I measure the size of the book when it's closed and make my design that size. You could also do it in Cricut Design Space or InkScape or another program.
Did anyone else gasp out loud when she wasted those perfectly folded edges of the paper and just slapped tape all over the cover? Literally 2 scissor snips on each side and you would barely need any tape at all! In case you don't get what I mean: when you've folded the butchers paper to match the height of the book, fold in one side like she did and close the book (no tape) then look at where the spine is and snip those folded down flaps. Now open the book back up and rewrap that side with the cover INSIDE those top and bottom flaps. You can tape that in place if you want but the pressure of the clamps should keep it in place. Do the same for the other side and you'll be left with 2 narrow flaps at the spine - you could leave those folded down and tape the spine like she does here, or you can gently poke those flaps down into the spine gap. This way there may be a little bit of cover showing at the hinge that will need tape, but only little slivers so it won't matter if it's masking or even duct tape.
Thanks for watching and sharing your method! The process may vary for each person (as well as the end result) and that's the beauty of crafting! I tend to use lots of tape for my crafts--especially sublimation!
I couldn’t make it two minutes (literally) into this video because of the incessant uptalk. For god sakes just talk normal, or take a speech class to learn how to talk so listeners are engaged. I’ll watch someone else do this to learn.

What a super cute project! Love the idea of stenciling the page edges of the journals I make. And speaking of cute, Gus is adorable!!!!
Thanks so much! The edges of a journal would be amazing! Gus says hi!

I'm glad you found it helpful! I still have to pinch myself sometimes when I think living in this house is just a dream!!
They look awesome and Gus is beautiful. Thanks and have a wonderful day.
Thank you Mandy!
this such a cool idea. Thinking Christmas stencils would really make a great coffee table book!
That's a great idea!
Love the idea and love the series! I have them on audiobook and have listened to them multiple times.
Same! I do mostly audiobooks which is how I get through 100+ per year. But of course I still like to have hardcopies of my favorites!
@@HeyLetsMakeStuff Jennifer L Armentrout has a few good series also.
@@carolsaint I read the first From Blood & Ash book and just got the second!
@HeyLetsMakeStuff I'm sure you'll love it. If you are interested in any of the others, let me know and I'll send you the series titles I loved.
Thanks Cori. What a fun and unique idea. 😊
Thanks!

What a great idea!! I love it!
My daughter want to paint the edges of the twilight books. Thank you so much for this. I’m so excited to show her so we can attempt it.
Have fun!
Wow, hoping to try something like this with customizing Bibles soon! Like gauffering, but with paint or archival inks
What a great idea!
That would make such a beautiful gift for someone! Love this idea!
I love this tutorial! Thank you! Have you tried Cricuts stencil vinyl for this?
I have not, but I bet it would work! Glad you liked the tutorial!
If your clamps have a deep enough throat, put them on from the back, so they are not in your way. :)
Mine didn't clamp as well from the back because they weren't quite deep enough! I needed the larger clamps, ha!
So cool!!! As an author, it would be fun to do this to my own books. 😍
I love that idea! I have two craft books and now you have me thinking!!
This is what I’m going to do to the books I write too. Cheaper than a printing service for sure!
Those turned out great! Is there any lingering spray paint smells?
Also those binding fabric on the spines are called headbands. :)
headbands! I love it. And no, I didn't notice any lingering smells! :)

I have not. I've seen some people use small airbrushes to get a multi color look. I think what you're describing would also work and look really cool!
Hi Cori great video! Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Amazing! Thank you
Thank you too!
do you have a video instructing how you made the stencils?
I don't, but I basically repeated the pattern and then put it in a rectangle the same size as my pages. I should do a full tutorial, though! Thanks for the suggestion.
This is amazing. I wonder if washi tape would be a good alternative to painters tape in a pinch?
I bet it could! You want to be sure it's not too sticky or not sticky enough, though!

Are these normal spray paints? Or is there’s some special paints for books? I really want to try this but afraid I’d destroy them 🥺
These are normal spray paints! Just do LIGHT coats so that it doesn't gloop on there and get too crunchy :)
Have you ever used the gold metallic spray? I've heard it's doesn't stay on the edges very well.
I haven't! That's good to know. Sometimes metallic paint can be more flaky than regular colors.
Wow Im so jelly of where you live.... lol
I live here and most of the time I'm like "OMG I LIVE HERE!" It's like being on vacation in a cabin every day.
Same.
Have you ever tried this method on a bible
I have not. But, I would imagine the same process would apply!

True booklovers would never do this to a book 👎🏼👎🏼
Agree to disagree!
It’s her books if she wants she can use them as shoes, get over it
Books with sprayed edges are a thing book stores offer 😂 so book lovers buy them already, this person just chose to do it herself.
What's the big deal. Just don't watch it and leave her alone she can make whatever she wants to. You need to work on being respectful.
@@Cocopretty100 destroying a book is disrespectful. You could just ignore comments as well…
