    Jeremy and I spend the weekend bugging out at the cabin chasing down all kinds of critters from cottontail rabbits, to crows that are living near the off grid cabin in the woods. We fish the pond for the elusive trophy sized rainbow trout that we stocked there and try our hand at coyote hunting. We are after anything that is currently in season during the winter in effort to put wild food on the table. My Gear (Shop and Support): www.thewoodedbeardsman.com/
    Fish Spear: clancysoutdoors.com/shop/fish...
    Jeremy is off his 'big wild year' eating nothing but wild foods, but that doesn't mean we can't lead a healthier life supplementing modern foods with wild foods. We cook our game over the wood stove and enjoy the warm of the fire. We set traps for coyote, rabbits, and raccoons which are presenting a problem for nearby farmers.
    I'll share lots of trail camera images of coyotes around the live trap, and one almost goes inside!

    We sink a piece of white sheet to the bottom through a 2x3 hole in ice. Then you can see fish swim by. Obviously only works in shallow water. Makes for easier spearing. I have only used this method for smelts. Cheers from NB.

      He either makes lot's of mistakes or just gets blamed anyways wether it was his fault or not and whatever is going on in his life doesn't ever seem to be brought up by him, seems to me if he wanted it talked about he'd bring it up. Then the guy in the red flannel jacket just walks around in the woods all day, which apparently he completely dismissed that as not worth replying too & continued to talk to jeremy and drink their beer.

    Has Jeremy ever had a sleep study? something to think about, he might have obstructive sleep apnea.

  • @skedadle_
    @skedadle_ 4 роки тому +1

    I had problems with my nose for about a year with sinus infections and bacterial infections in my sinuses. This left the turbinates inside my nose permanently swollen and i had to get them shrunken down. It worked great at first but then i started having problems again with lots of snot/puss buildup in my nose every day and problems breathing. I think what i did wrong is that i was supposed to either take antibiotics or a cortisone steroid nose-spray after the surgery to properly heal the wounds. I have now been using one of those sprays and my nose is doing great.
    They wont go away by themselves after they've gotten as bad as yours, im pretty sure surgery will be the only real help for you. Its also very dangerous to have a blocked nose like you have for too long because you can get sleep apnea.
    Hope this helps :)

    hey... I don't have those in my nose, but I have sleep apnea because my throat is too small so I know how it is to be sleep-deprived. tests revealed I had 100 micro awake per hours... so anyway, since last October I have a CPAP and I never felt better my whole life and the snore completely stopped.
    maybe Jeremy should look into this... you need to be referred to a pulmonologist though... but it's worth the effort. while I use to need 10-11 hours of sleep each day, I now only need 7 and I have much more energy.

    Crow is good eating! I think they taste like pidgeon personally. Coyote is good too, we hunt them like crazy down here in Wv. Like you always say though, when you cook predators, make sure you cook them well because of the chance of trichinosis. A buddy of mine got that about ten years ago and it still bothers him to this day. It's nasty stuff.

    Love Crow Hunting.. They always send out a Scout to try and find you once you start shooting at them.. If you can hide well enough that the Scout cant find you then your golden.... If the Scout find you they land near and starts yelling to give your location away.... Using a Duck blind that you can cover yourself up with after each shot helps me stay on them longer..

  • @ogsavage1928
    @ogsavage1928 4 роки тому

    Yeah, you are bumping them around. Sound travels through water 4 times faster than it does in air and I would guess it is much louder for the fish. Every step you take on the crunching snow and ice probably echos like a bass drum. Fish will naturally move away from unnatural sound. You probably need to set the tip ups overnight.

    Chris, I had property on a stocked mine pit in northern Minnesota. We learned the trout (rainbows) swim clockwise along a certain route in a pack. It would be a set time for them to make the rotation. they would only bite during their feeding times and not stick around when passing through? Brook trout however maintained a shallower area and guarded their spot. If you caught a Brook trout; another one would move in the next day. I love Trout btw... ;)

    Tell Jer to do a sleep study (need a referral from a family doc to see the sleep specialist) and he will likely get a CPAP machine... The invasive procedures when they cut or burn stuff out of your nose & throat is usually pretty ineffective and can cause more problems than it attempts to solve. If he is really snoring that badly he likely has sleep apnea and needs to seek out help as sleep apnea causes heart issues, early onset dementia/alzheimers, weight gain, and a plethora of other health risks sky rocket. I could rant and ramble more about it but he needs to go see the sleep doctor ASAP.

    Hi Chris,
    like your videos! I have a question: How do you treat the dark meat of wild turkey to make it palatable/tender? So far I prepared it in the slow cooker, but that takes forever and doesn't really make it tender. Would you brine it as well?

    Late to the party. In conjunction with a sleep study for sleep apnea also ask about the nasal turbinate's and possibly having them removed. I snored so much and so loud my wife slept in the other room and my shift partners at the fire department slept in another room. I had my turbinates' removed to cure my nasal obstruction fixed, a sleep study done that showed severe obstructive sleep apnea. Have been using a CPAP for over 10 years and now I can not sleep without it. Stay safe, wear a mask and distance from people not in you immediate family.

    Maybe try some power bait under the ice. Usually stocker trout are suckers for it. Good luck. I'm currently having a breakfast of beautiful lake Erie yellow perch. Yummy ! May I suggest some skeet shooting for Jeremy. Lol

      The best stuff is rainbow color it comes in a jar it's like playdough. You can form small balls with it. Fly fisherman disclaimer... I haven't personally used it for many years. Lol

    Had polyp removed in my right nostril that was giving me chronic sinus infections. Haven't had a sinus infection since and it hasn't returned for 13 years. Wish you the best J.

    Its sleep apnea, upper airway issue. Nasal problem doesn't help though either. I'm a polysomnographer (sleep technologist) Tell him to get a sleep study.
