Build that raft house - full speed ahead! Kevin's little girl is smart AND cute, warms the cockles of an old mans heart! And Holden is learning the value of work! Love Canadian maple syrup, willing to pay the price for that epicurean delight so that I can baptize my pancakes and waffles with it, but sparingly! Used some to make a sweet and sour sauce for stirfry last week - my wife raved about how good it was! Secret ingredient! Stay safe, as always.

Watching from home in The White Mountains of New Hampshire When I was a boy many years ago in Toronto, I used to sketch a similar idea for my brother and I to go fishing in the Muskokas. Great idea. Very enjoyable show. Thank you.

Best proverb for collecting sap ... freezing in the night, above freezing in the day ... best sap flow. 10 major species of trees in which sugar can be tapped. Highest sugar sap % is (of course ~12%) the sugar maple. Others are down to 4%. Maples, walnuts, birch (birch sugar is xylitol - in chewing gum and chemical sugar additives in brewing), osage orange, ironwood, ....
Being from Tx, I have never seen how maple syrup is made. Thanks for the learning. lol Made me gasp when you overturned the sled full of sap. Always good to see the kids out getting an appreciation for nature. Thumbs up on the raft shed build. How can someone not like fishing? It is like meditation, but you get to kill something at the end! To get Kevin out there onto the water, just bait your trap better. I suggest beer and steak.

Thank you for making this video. Our home is on 43 acres and after being here for 9 years, we JUST found about 30 maple trees at the back of the property. For our first time ever, We used your bucket idea, made a barrel stove and processed 11 litres of the tastiest maple syrup I have ever had. So thank you for the inspiration :) Just a couple corrections on your video write up...it takes approx 40 litres of sap (not 4) for 1 litre of syrup, and syrup forms at ~219F (at sealevel) not 212F. Again, thank you and keep up the great videos! All the best to you and your family!!
