been washing my engine for years with a pressure washer. i just spray it with 2-1 purple power and let soak for a few minutes and blast off all the nastiness. never covered anything and never had any problems .a clean engine is a happy engine.

Same here, every vehicle I've ever owned, every other car wash. Wet it down, spray on the cleaner, let it soak for 3-5 mins, rinse it off, dry it. Used a leaf blower for a long time but now I use a vehicle blow dryer I bought on Amazon. I just make sure not to spray electronics continuously, keep the water flow moving.

@@giggityeffyou So if you ever break down when its raining you better not open the hood and try to fix your car or its ruined?, pressure washer is a little different than rain for sure but what if it takes you an hour and its raining hard? at what point do you draw the line there?

When I clean engines, I use a mixture of Dawn Dish Soap, Super Clean & Purple Power Boat & Vehicle Wash. I only use my garden hose, no power washer. I use my foam gun, let dwell & scrub with my wheel & tire brushes. Rinse, dry with forced air. Then I apply an inexpensive tire foam spray, let air dry. After the product has dried, I will come back & apply protectant and or wax as needed. I never spray the insulation under the hood. The tire foam does an outstanding job. Keep Cleaning!

Do not do this if you have an exposed alternator!! Pressure washing will force water into areas not meant for water to go into. You will wear down the grease in the coils and eventually start shorting your alternator, your car will not run the same and possibly short our your alternator. Cover your alternator, make sure all your caps are secured tightly and check for exposed wiring and clean your electrical components by hand.

Only part of spraying the enginebay you gotta be mindful of is around the spark plug tubes, those are not water tight, they can and do get water in there and cause misfires, I've done it several times, so just take an air gun and blow them out when finished (I haven't finished the video yet)

Just to help people feel better about it.
I have no lower engine cover and drive my 3 low daily (2.5" all the way around as of the past 2 years. 4 years prior, 3.5"). I run through huge puddles on the highway (my city's drains can clog in heavy storms which is often in summer) and water legit splashes up my engine bay. So far, no damage from it. It's not sitting on top of my valve cover, in the ignition seat, in the injector seat, nor is it getting in my intake. As long as that water keeps it moving, it's all good. My alternator gets splashed especially because it's so low in my engine bay. All these years, never had a problem with it due to getting wet. As long as you cover what's needed (when I clean my bay, I cover the valve cover as i clean it separately, i cover over the injectors, and that's it. sometimes I take the battery out to clean the battery box) and dry it properly, you're all good.

So she's down right now, I'm replacing uppipe, gonna go ahead and pull the oil pan, and check the bearings, and oil pump etc. It was crazy just how gnarly my engine bay was, it still definitely needs another wash with more agitation as you showed with the microfiber.

Put as much soap as he did in any foam cannon and your gonna be getting foam like that lol. The advantages of expensive ones are generally durability and possibly, at least in some cases, foam quality, allowing you to use a little less soap for the same result. A home gamer would never need to worry about that as dialing in exact soap measurements is time consuming and will only save meaningful $$$ to a pro going though several gallons of soap per month.

Don't need all those Solutions and steps. Ran an heavy Equipment Company for years and maintained a fleet of trucks & Cars. Simple Steps.
Cover alternator and negative battery terminal with plastic. Get a Heavy Duty Citric Based degreaser, dilute 1-1. Spray everything, let sit 1 minute.
Get the pressure washer be sure it is under 1000 psi. Remove all degreaser, take an air hose, blow everything off. 5 minute start to finish.
Did 1000's of engines this way for years. Never had a problem. OMGMIATA is making it too complicated and my Mechanics were on the clock,
so time and and results were paramount. This worked on engines that operated in all kinds of conditions and never received cleaning outside
our Service Dept. Sometimes if machines came in that were working in muddy conditions, we might pre -soke with hot water and hit with pressure
washer, before degreasing. This is way too much work, for a simple quick task!

It has two issues first it runs but every couple of days of running it it will stop and turn over but not start. Second issues which just happened it will not go passed 5000 rpms. And now I have a cel for the cat. I removed the cat same issue. Any ideas?

When it comes to cleaning the engine i leave to the pro engine detailers. They dont use high pressure water and soap, they use some sort of chemicals to get rid of oil sludge and dirt. I dont wanna take that risk on that high pressure washer. If you can afford to buy a car im sure you can afford to get your engine clean by pro detailers.

Step 1: invest in detail brushes. Saves u a-lot more time, and u can get to places u cant reach with your hand.
