The layout is looking good Roy. I showed my layout to former neighbors of mine when they came to visit me. Their youngest granddaughter is interested in model railroading. I recommended that she buys a Kato starter train set to get started in the hobby, also told her it’s best to take your time in the hobby. I will be doing a train rotation tomorrow. I will be running my Amtrak Coast Starlight on the layout for so many runs & will t rotate my Amtrak locomotives when I will be running my Amtrak train. I’m working on removing the paper on corrugated boxes so that I will be painting it red to simulate tile roofs for my planned passenger train station & covered walkway which I will scratch build the passenger train station & covered walkway.
Hi Christopher! Thanks for your comment. You gave excellent advice to the youngest granddaughter. I'm glad you could promote the hobby that way. ...Roy
It is nice to have a smooth flat track and gentle transitions to an incline or decline. Thanks for the update, Roy. And, that is the easy way to fix most problems, David.
Great solution, Roy! I’ve always used the 2% incline/decline’s on my model too. What’s really neat about these is you can also lay them on the sides for even a higher elevation, gotta love Woodland products, they might be a little pricey but they make life easier. Thanks Roy and hope you are feeling and doing better, your bride too. Ron
I'd say it's a good idea to check your Kato track before deciding not to weight it when gluing, I've had a lot of 248mm straights that were bowed and weighting sorted that out!
Steve, you make a good point. Thanks for this important suggestion. I've been using Kato Unitrack for 8 years now and haven't encountered this problem yet, but it's a good idea to check, as you suggest. ...Roy
Hi Roy. Looking great. I didn’t notice there was a grade through that part of the layout / lift up bridge previously. The train looks awesome running on the new levelled section.
so i had inclines on my layout and i been so hard headed on trying to get them to work but Derail Darrell gave me a good kick i finally rip them out and now i'm starting over great video
Thanks for your comment, Dwight. Sometimes we need a good kick to get us to do what we need to do. I need such a kick myself just about every day. ...Roy
that is the main thing. if you don't like it, then change it. that is one of my biggest pet peeves, little dips or small bumps in the track and cars come uncoupled. always somewhere where you can't reach easy.
I hear you, Sparky, and I gotta say that you're absolutely right: Problems will always occur in the least accessible spots on a layout. But I'm really happy with the way this change is turning out. It's an even bigger improvement than I expected it would be. ...Roy
I like your videos and your layout. I'm curious about how you manage the track connections for the lifting section? Have you sawed through some of the Kato track pieces?
Thanks for your comment, my friend. It's good to hear from you. Regarding the track connections for the lift-up bridge, it would be possible to saw through the track, but instead, I use Kato track expansion sections. There's an example of how they work in this video: ua-cam.com/video/t_ZA6a_B-dc/v-deo.html&t ...Roy
Roy, Nicely done. As you say a painless way to either to elevate your track or in this case to level the track. You would have been running this re-leveled section for a week or so now so how do you find it? The trains seem to run very smoothly through this area. Cheers, Chris Perry.
Hiya Chris! I'm really delighted with this change. It's turning out to be a much bigger improvement than I ever imagined it would be. It's a pleasure to share it with you. ...Roy
I DO use N Scale, and follow the "never glue track" mantra - now that I glued and soldered far too much, too soon, and am still prying up turnouts a couple of years after soldering & gluing them in.
You're absolutely right, my friend. I wish I had filmed the process of actually installing the sections of inclines on the layout. Lesson learned: I will remember to do film every step of the process in the future. Thanks for commenting. ...Roy
When you “ don’t like it, “ eliminate it! I agree wholeheartedly. Nicely done. Thanks. See ya next time Roy.
Thanks, Norman. You're absolutely right. ...Roy

Roy, it's always important to make improvements. That's why a layout is never done. Thanks for the video.
So true, Stephen. There are always improvements to make. And yes, indeed, that's one of the big reasons why a layout is never done. ...Roy
It is nice to have a smooth flat track and gentle transitions to an incline or decline. Thanks for the update, Roy. And, that is the easy way to fix most problems, David.
Thanks, David. It was easy to do, and I'm very pleased with the results. ...Roy

Thanks, Ron. You are so right: the WS inclines are convenient. I'm willing to pay for convenience. ...Roy

Thanks for your comment, Tim. Yep, I'm pretty sure I hold the world championship for "slowest and laziest model railroader." ...Roy
Looking nice and smooth Roy!!👍😊

Nope, I don't think it's you, Mike. I believe I hold that title hands down. ...Roy
Ok, helpful.... but... you did not show how you actually put the lifts under the track, or glue the pieces into place. That would have been helpful.
You're absolutely right, my friend. I wish I had filmed the process of actually installing the sections of inclines on the layout. Lesson learned: I will remember to do film every step of the process in the future. Thanks for commenting. ...Roy
