The narrative structure of this one was so complete and so positive; it's a legit change from what you expect from Channel 5 but it more of a "surprise, lookit the range on these people"
I also really liked the ending. Like what's a shoes value? 100$? 200$? A shirt? A painting? Its all just numbers. There's a great quote: "Everything is valuable under the right conditions. To a man dying of thirst, water be more previous than gold. To a drowning man, water be of little worth and great trouble."

Im genuinely surprised that both conventions were equally as interesting and entertaining. Every time I watch one of these videos I'm enamored by the range of personalities people have.
Damn, Andrew Callaghan please notice the positive response being felt by literally millions of people in the comment section. This is what people really want. Media that connects us to all the different versions of ourselves. Media that encourages human diversity, with all its innocent struggle, flaws, and creative solutions all contained within the American diaspora. It really makes you realize that we truly are all the same despite all the radical and wacky differences. We need more of this. ❤️❤️❤️
Shoes like that have a clearly artificially inflated value due to the market… Andrew saying fuck all that and trading them for some girl just pushing HER art outside a convention center.. bro I started tearing up typing this. Andrew is cool, he does good journalism, he’s funny, whatever… but most importantly: HE GETS IT
@@Davidus053 I dunno whether it's because I'm a parent and I got to hear my son's first cries or what, but that part made me tear up so hard I had to pause the video.
Your journalism acts as a window into the worlds of these diverse perspectives. Super interesting contrast between the conventions, and the different types of people in and around them
I found this hilarious, an actual relevant person in the space was all about it, and some dude trying to be cool completely dismissed it. Galaxy Foams are dope as hell.
Always love when two cons are booked in the same venue. Tattoo convention + anime convention sometimes line up around here, and that building is full of characters.
The surgeon-esque precision with which Andrew extracts stories and information from people is like nothing I've ever seen. Interviewing the harp player and then taking the time to actually seek out and play the part of his record that he was talking about, where his newborn cries over his harp playing in the delivery room; it really shows the value and care that Andrew gives to every encounter.
I love how the guy said "I'd say it's the Middle East..." like "C'mon, quit playing around, wise-guy, you know the mannequin was decapitated in the Middle East..."
I put this one off because I hated ComplexCon and didn't want a repeat of influencer content, but this was actually the most wholesome thing I've seen in a long time. Everything about this was just so fucking cool. This is definitely in the top 3 of his videos.
That harp dude and I have something in common yo, we both played what we were good at in the hospital room while our wives gave birth. L4d2 really was a great game.
That man playing the harp while his child is born in incredible, that child was born into a world of music. Also the emotions that he must have felt must be incredible and playing an instrument is a very emotional thing. The only bad part is probably no other piece he played came even close haha
Art Value: Priceless. Andrew Callaghan and the Channel 5 people are living legends. They are doing with journalism in the era of social media what Hunter S. Thompson did with his Gonzo style.
At first I thought that dude playing harp at his daughter's birth was strange but I've come around and I actually think it's quite beautiful. Andrew's journalism is superb
And then he trades the shoes to the artist for the painting... BEAUTIFUL. God damn, I love this dude. NGL that ending had me tear a bit, what a great way to close the video.

The way Andrew just goes along with whatever people suggest and gets incredible content anyway is testament to his skills. After his Hot Ones episode where he mentioned Louis Theroux being a big inspiration, I am seeing it in everything he does. He really is Theroux for a new generation.
