Just heard.....wow . Not a lot of words to express the deep sadness felt. Butch was a gentleman and always treated you with respect and kindness if you had known him 10 minutes or 10 years. And he was brilliant, go back and listen closely to his work with Jaimoe and his solo projects too. Look at his teaching videos online. The man solved a Rubiks cube puzzle in front of me in less than 45 seconds. Twice. At a show in Boston while doing security for BHLT a fight erupted in the crowd as the band finished a set and I ended up with a split lip. After getting the band back stage , Butch was the first to come to my aid with a towel and some ice. That impressed the hell out of me .And.every time we saw each other after that it was always a handshake and a smile , like he had known me for years....... and he never forgot my name . I have not heard or read a bad word about that man since that night in '83. We only knew each other over a 2 or 3 year time span but he was one of the finest in that business that I had the pleasure of working with. I will never forget this fine human being.Rest in peace.
Thank God for Butch Trucks and The Allman Brother Band. Maybe one of these days a younger generation will bring the music back, I sure hope so. R.I.P. Butch.
I found out tuesday night/wednesday morning of Butch's death, If the information is correct about his manner of death is very sad to hear. Evidently depression and an overwhelming sense of doom. I fret just to make it a little better than paycheck to paycheck. But I have no idea the stress and pressure that Butch was going through with the IRS. I imagine that he may have felt disappointed that he was not providing adequately for his family. We see our rock heroes "as gods" yet they have many of the same concerns and stresses that I have as just an everyday guy( not in the spotlight and not famous). Butch I enjoyed your drumming, One of the best that ever picked up the sticks. I pray that you will rest in God's Arms for eternity.

James Russell Amen James. I knew Butch along time ago and he's about the last person I'd expect to go down that way. Gonna miss you for sure,
I swear that this band was cursed. RIP to all the legends lost. The Brothers are jamming up above.

Why?
Actually Jaimoe and Duane stated the band. Then the others were added.
