  • It’s day 30. I’m trying to raise my chess rating from 0 to 2000 ELO within 30 days.
    RULE 1: Only Rapid Games.
RULE 2: I have to explain every single move I play.
RULE 3: I will give you a checklist of things that you must do to improve your rating.
RULE 4: If I lose a game, I have to play the GROB (worst chess opening) in the next one.
This speedrun is authorized on chess.com. The ELO points will be refunded.

May want to consider doing it again because it was so much fun. Might want to use few specific openings only (example - like the London or pieces defense only) or another idea might be there

The thing id like most is videos with more advice on fundamentals, tactics & strategies. Basically chess tips for U1200 that are not so focused on openings like most chess content on youtube.

Thank you Alessia for this playlist, it was very enriching to see how you think during a game to try to reach that fateful mark of 2000 elo. You are a very happy and bubbly player, it makes us want to play with a smile rather than with rage and anger like many Streamers/Players do. Thank you for this positivity, I will continue with your 1800/2000 playlist because I am stuck at 1800 on Lichess and I find that the step is high to catch these 200 elo points which are nevertheless reached so easily for you!!! In terms of content, I like your advice on the 1500/2000 tranche and your demonstrations of calculations and strategy. Thank you and good luck for the future!

That was an outstanding series! I’ve not enjoyed something so much since actually being present for the Karpov v Kasparov matches of long ago. It would be instructive if you played a few games against the myriad of 2300 to 2500 hundred players. I would suggest moving the time control to 5 minutes to prevent them from, how should I say, getting a little silicon assistance which can be done with the 10 minute time control. These would be instructive games for sure. By the way, the players on line with 2500 plus ratings seem to always loose to me when I meet them in OTB chess. (Coincidence?) Keep going and can’t wait for you to reach 100k subscribers.

Thanks for this series. Listening to you explain your moves is way more helpful to me than watching videos that just show if this then that. I like the reasoning more than memorization. If you are going to do an opening video, can I request the bishops opening? I appreciate all the time spend on these videos.

Honestly this series is what most of us guys are looking for. We want aggressive tactical chess. It seems so hard when you are learning too. You make it look easy and simple to understand. I think even another series like this one would be beneficial. I realize others would be good too. But this is the type of chess that makes people love the game. Positional chess obviously has its place but it doesn't sell the game to new players.

In game 2 (14:18) you missed queen takes knight on e7 (Qxe7), queen takes queen (Qxe7) and knight on g6 (Ng6+) is a fork and you win back the queen and you win the knight (Kh7 and Nxe7 or Rxe7)
I am not sure if you missed it or you just thought that the attack is worth more than the free knight. I am 1600 and you are obviously better than me.
