Once, I didn’t know a single opening by name. No clue about opening theory or endgame strategy at all, and was rated about 1600. Now, I’ve studied and watched countless UA-cam videos about chess and follow chess accounts and have trained on puzzles and played loads more games, and I know dozens of openings by name and deep standard lines and all sorts of unique variations on common openings, familiar with countless traps and counters, And I’m still ~1600.
haha i feel this comment in my soul. the way i see it is that just by playing more your brain will naturally start seeing moves that make sense and make fewer mistakes. theory is only truly needed when you are playing at the highest levels. but i find studying theory and strategy enormously fun - even if it doesn't help me on a practical level (yet)
The London allows the king to get some elbow room against non-professional…. But the pros who spend every waking minute studying chess like Rainman waiting for Wapner are way too clever for it.
I really don't understand what happens with the London system, why people either love it or hate it, and nothing in between. What's so special about the London?
@@xescllabres1327 people love it because it's simple to learn and you can play it against almost any response by black. It also has very few weaknesses in the structure. People hate it because it has a reputation of leading to a slow, closed position, which I would argue isn't true
Already looking forward to the next series, when you start again (hopefully) against players rated 1200-1600 (which is closer to my actual level). With this series we are learning quite a lot . T H A N K Y O U !!!
Sono infognatissimo di questa serie! Sei bravissima a spiegare e, soprattutto, lo fai sempre dal punto di vista dei principi da seguire, quindi aiuti un sacco i noob come me a migliorare! Grande!
The thumbnail is funny, it was a wild call-out. Guilty as accused. Edit: Hard to give up on that since that's the only opening I can play without messing up game entirely. Guess I'll never reach 2000 then. :)
Excellent King side counter attack just when queenside was falling apart. In hindsight Black should have scooped up the exchange earlier when could do so safely.
11:13 she either said “fucking bastard” or “flabbergasted” and I like to think the former because it’s actually likely the latter. I heard the former initially lol
With me being a lower rated player, at the video time 27:03, I would have tried to trade the Queens. Being up a Rook and a Bishop VS. a Knight. I would be confident I would win the game.
In the first game, at 1:20, you should have play Rook d1-d8, after the QxRb1 +, and K g2, you would have a check mate thread and be in real good position and win back the Rc7
I spam the London opening like way too much online. It got me to 2300+ on blitz, rapid, and 2400+ in bullet lol. Just not in the mood to play anything else because I am somewhat lazy. I am considering the double fianchetto system for white though, just haven't really played that opening much and don't know all the ideas.
In the first game didn't you miss opportunities to move the rooks to safety after he waited to take them in the fork or would you lose material anyway?
I"'m not a rated player or anything, but to me, black didn't look so strong. I thought I saw other opportunities for black but there's a lot I don't know.
Alessia, with all due respect: We cannot say "There's few time." The word few can only be used if we speak about countable units. So you can say "There's little time left" or "There are only few minutes left". Also in the first game it would have been a good idea to move the bishop to h3 (instead of f3) but I know at chess you are better than Joe Jacques... 😓
Why do people get butthurt when we try to help other people improve their secondary language respectfully. I would love for people to correct my Arabic and French every time. How the fuck else are we supposed to improve
You always make such useful and humorous content! 😃👏 🎉 May I ask what the blitz-like light bursts are? They occur on your recent videos, this one included.
Pretty silly, black gave up a completely winning position with the K Q and Rs without taking anything. Black could of won easily. Who was she playing? Her Dad?
I really like how you explain your moves. Plus you're doing this while playing 10 minutes game is amazing.

The thumbnail hurt my feelings😢. I'm 1500 elo and play the london😭😂
I'm over 2000 and only play London with white. You good
Yeah it’s just mean, London is great for improvement, helped me a lot as well

That was an amazing win in the first game. I felt the pressure when your clock was under 1 min. Nice win!!!!
Bruhhhhh the thumbnail doesnt even match with the video. I actually wanted to look at the london system

How to climb 1500 to 2000:
One youtuber: play only london
Next one: don't play london
So true! 😂
You are doing extremely well with producing well explained and esthetically pleasing videos, as well as improving your chess, Alessia!!!❤❤❤
Congratulations on you reaching 2000 Elo you are fun to watch and how you explain things. I have learned much from watching your videos
Alessia is such a fun person!

I hope you can be an exception 😁
I don't think well as fast as you do but I like how you explain things. You keep it simple. That works for me.😁😁😁
Do you have a tutorial about the King’s Gambit? Especially the declined variations

To me, those 2000 guys look mighty strong. I'll just stay scared in my low rating range, or playing against my 7 years old.

is a london system good for improvement at 1000 rating?
for sure
Excellent play and talk.
Only until you don't have Hans Jobava Course .
I like using the El Paso system!
I peaked 2174 and I solely play the london
You play very well
