yes hes most likely insecure about his masculinity. hence the big muscles. the dog seems afraid of his hands if you watch closely in the video. I don't doubt he hits the little doggy causing her to be so fearful of him.
I feel much respect for guys who walk small dogs, plus it’s a great gal magnet, all small dogs need to be on a harness as most do suffer with aggravated, chronic, injured tracheas.
Not gonna lie, I love the change from "this is not a mans dog" to deliberately and carefully lightening his voice for her praises, laughing and smiling while interacting with her, and patting her when they're talking to and listening to Victoria
This was such a heartwarming episode! I loved how the couple, especially Peter, took immediately responsibility and acknowledged their flaws. Beautiful.
one time I walked my dog, and we met a very much "tough guy" with all tattoos, very tall, muscular, bald, somewhat frightening appearance. My dog was a chihuahua and very well behaved, so once he sensed my anticipation he came close to me and watched me the whole time. Then we came up to this "tough guy" and he immediately asked if he could pet my dog and went down on his knees being overexcited about a socialized and playful chihuahua. Being tough is all about being respectable. and I definitely respect that guy :)
I’m not normally a fan of chihuahuas but something about this dog’s nervous but sweet energy is very endearing to me… she seemed to respond really well to the training with Peter and seemed more comfortable already by the time they moved onto the walking training. Also I love when people give their dogs human names, I find it cute 😂
Chihuahuas get a bad rep but they are seriously such great dogs if you leave the prejudice behind! My chi is super smart, super well behaved and so so sweet! She's always changing minds!
My husband always wanted a chihuahua and after 10 years I agreed and found the perfect girl from gumtree. She was a few years old already. I brought her home and when my husband got home all excited to see his new best friend she growled at him and was super anxious round him. He tried everything! After a couple of YEARS she now licks him and sleeps next to his head. He put more effort into that dog as if she were human.
Yeah they're both beautiful. The bad part is always when they themselves know they're beautiful. Causes egos. I've always saw some flirting. Wonder if Victoria is into throuples😆.
Bravo to this couple for 100% going all in to change, especially Peter! I've heard his excuses before on this show but to have him almost instantly agree to do better is mind-blowing!
What i truly appreciate is that the guy started with the chihuahua not being a man’s dog to fully accepting that the chihuahua has needs like every other dog and stepping up to the occasion.
My chihuahua/min pin cross was an absolute mess when we got him as a rescue at 5. We learned when we registered his tag that we were his 6 th home in his 5 years of life. He had peeing issues that we now know was due to an immune disease but no one before us gave him enough of a chance. He nearly died 3 years ago due to the immune disease but alot of love and barely any sleep he came out of it. Due to prolonged steroid use he became diabetic and then blind unfortunately but he’s adjusted pretty great considering everything. All animals need is love, care and a chance ❤️
Ive watched so many "It's Me or the Dog" episodes and it's so rewarding when the Owner's actually try and you can see so much quality of life improvement and happiness in the pups. Yay!
I loved when Allison finally got comfortable going to Peter or being on his lap and how much love Peter was giving! I feel like he had never had that before and was so excited
Honestly, any dog lower then your knee height can have anxiety. Always approach these dogs calmly, get down to it's level, and never make big loud steps when walking past. Were like Giants to them and why puppy socialization is so important with both other dogs and people
For a big strong guy it's not about walking a little dog but walking along with a big personality 🥰 Real men loves all animals, including the small size ones..
We adopted our Chiweenie (chi/dachshund mix) when he was one year old and noticed right away that he gets nervous when my 6 ft tall husband and sons are trying to interact with him. My oldest son, however, is not quite as tall or loud and instinctively kneels on the floor to play with him, and it’s obvious how much more comfortable Jasper feels with him. Now if only my other boys would pay attention and do that, too!
While agreeing with you, it's also worth mentioning, that that's usually what happens both with small and big dogs, when owners get negative behavior from their dog on the street, so they cease walking them as much in the end, despite putting a lot of effort in the beginning. With big dogs it's usually intense dragging on the leash and being anxious/aggressive towards other dogs, with small dogs it's also anxiety and seeing, that the dog is in fear. So it's pretty common withing this show too, that people, when they don't have enough of knowledge about how important walks are in comparing to physical exercises - it's common to see, that these owners prefer the dog staying inside, since walking them seemly gives anxiety both to the dog and the owner, basically being a negative experience. It's easy to start to think "Ah, my dog is just asocial, it probably doesn't needs the walks then", forgetting, that walks are not just social interactions for the dogs. What I admire in Victoria - the way she changes the mindset of the people, making them see the situation from the different point of view. Very educational and very important on getting the feedback of how one takes care of their pet, since it's very easy to get stuck in one mindset and distort your own perception of things
@@BeastRedAsh I qalnt to add to your comment, Victoria also usually starts very gently and kindly with teaching people what they should and shouldn't be doing. She only becomes agressive if the owner fo the dog is repeatedly agressive and disrespectful to her!
Great episode! It's so hard and heartbreaking to think that the couple were so clueless--pick up a book on Chihuahuas for heaven's sake! Even so, this was a great ending.
I'm glad they are using a harness now, I knew someone who had a chihuahua mix that passed away due to a collapsed trachea from a collar. Harnesses are so much better.
Daily walking is absolutely necessary for my two Chihuahuas. They love it… They walk slowly and are interested in smelling and looking, and having a sense of freedom from their home routine. It’s their favorite thing to do…Chihuahuas need a a harness so that their necks don’t get pulled! It makes all the difference for them to walk. My man felt a bit awkward walking ours with their little pleated dress harnesses but they work! And….look adorable!
I am wondering how Alison was when she was traveling the world with her pet parent. The world was still big around her and she definitely saw lots of strangers. Was she barking at everyone? displayed as much anxiety?
They did say at the start of the episode that most of the problems didn't start until 2 years ago when the boyfriend moved in. I haven't watched the full episode yet though.
Doesn't matter the size of the dog....if you love them that's all that matters....love Victoria's way of handling these problems....excellent techniques in training....wonderful....
My ex bf has 2 large pitbull mixes and they NEVER go on walks. I would try to get him to bring the dogs out for walks and he wouldn’t. Telling me that they are “fine”. They were stuck in a small house with cigarette smoke everywhere. He didn’t smoke, but his grandma did and she lives there too. Awful lives. The dogs also never went to the vet. I’m kinda glad he is my ex. Just wish I could’ve taken those dogs with me
Another reason Chihuahuas are nerotic, people treat them like kids/babies. Chihuahuas snap when they can't take it anymore. Chihuahuas aren't a baby replacement. They are dogs. An should be treated as a dog. Also, Chihuahuas have a sensitive throat, harnesses are so much better than a collar.
i love this episode. very sweet and fun, hits close to home for me since I have a chihuahua on my own. she doesnt have a level of anxiety like this one, but she does have her moments. but i love taking her outside just to run and play or taking her for walks. it rlly does show how much dogs love walks bc anytime I get that leash out she's jumping around so much I cant even get it on her 😭
I have a female Jack Russell and before her I had a male Maltese/Poodle until he died at 17 which broke my heart, before that a huge Irish Wolfhound but size was never an issue, I just love dogs.
I have a neighbor across the street who has a dog and I swear they have never walked the dog in it’s entire life. It goes from inside the house, outside to do its business and then back inside. I don’t think they even take it on trips or to the park or anything. It’s so sad.
I go to school from 6am to 7pm, can only walk my dog Saturday and sunday, my mother used to walk him everyday but she can't do it anymore It's really sad for me because my baby loves walks and i have been trying to teach him tricks and stuff but i just don't have time to be persistent.
This show makes me cry in the best way possible I just love seeing owners connect with their dogs,,,, the relationship that comes with training is unlike anything else
I must be very lucky with my chihuahua Jaxi. She’s super on the lead. She does bark at people now and other dogs but I’m training her out of that. She only barks when she hears a car outside or the Woolworths delivery man. Lol. She’s not vicious at all. I guess I got lucky. She gets lots of love and attention. Her worst trait is chasing the cat. Lol.

9:55 I think that's the first time someone so wholeheartidly went "you're absolutely right" and call themselves out from the get-go like that; let alone from the masculine-sensitive man of the group. Can see in Victoria's face, she's like 'I can't tell if you're mocking me or not right now' 😂
I just call ours Fuzzy or Squeaky. Mainly Fuzzy. He goes by many names tbh. He only responds to Fuzzy or sometimes Squeaky. He’s a chi rat terrier mix. I love that dog. Mega cuddle buddy. I love rubbing my face into his fur. He’s so soft. He’s so gentle with me he lets me kiss his lips.
My mum has two jack Russell's and since she got them years ago they've never left her town house, ever. Not one walk. Its almost like she treats them like indoor cats except they're dogs. Its awful. When me and my son have visited we've offered to take them on walks and its like we offered to go and throw them off a bridge she acts horrified, she thinks they would completely freak out, and because its been so long I agree, they probably would freak out but in a good way. Just because you have small dogs it doesn't mean they're not dogs, they need to be walked!
Imagine being so insecure in yourself that you can't walk your own pet. So silly people worry about the size of their dog being an embarrassment. Beautiful transformation, great job guys.
"Less manly dog" Excuse me, you break into my house its the doberman thats gonna run and hide like a little weenie and the 4-pound chihuahua whos coming after you. They are fierce little dogs have more "Manly" energy then most dogs lol
I love how people have "problem" dogs, then they aren't exercising their dogs properly. My dog is an owner surrender, and if I'm having a calm home weekend, he will be so excited on Monday when we head out for work.. (he goes to work with me every day)
The squeek noises this chihuahua makes is cute and concerning at the same time. 😭 I just wanna cuddle that chi, rub my face on its fur, kiss it’s little lips, and squeak at it cutely 🐾💖
17:52 This sweet baby warms my little heart 💜. She’s not an aggressive dog. She’s not an angry dog. She’s just scared. And who could blame her? This world is a very scary & dangerous place. especially when you’re tiny and everything around you is so big and you can’t see it and you can’t reach it and you don’t know what else is out there. Our world is not dangerous because of criminals or bad people. It’s terrifying because of what our own governments and society will do to us to punish us for a million different behaviors that they do not approve of. They fail to recognize that punishment is not how you change behavior. If you want to change behavior, you have to use education, praise, and positive reinforcement. And then there’s giant corporations screwing us at every turn poisoning our air, water, and our food and environment. And then there are illnesses, viruses, and diseases that are out of control. There are a lot of scary things in this world. And when you’re small, and you don’t understand the world around you, it’s absolutely terrifying. I could never blame that little munchkin for being fearful and apprehensive. It makes perfect sense to me.
Yes !a manly man can walk a tiny chihuahua with pride. We are proud of you. Thank you for teaching them and awesome doggie parents for taking her advice. But Poor little baby …she was scared and conflicted at the beginning.
We don’t walk our labs daily - but we do “run them” (fast fetch!) several times a day. When it’s -20 degrees out with the streets a slick, slushy mess, walking is just not safe.
Personally, I think that Chi's should be handled with the biggest care. I mean, look at this small bean - no wonder that she's anxious all the time when everything is enormous. My friend has a Chi, and she is a sweetheart, but I had to show her that I'm no threat from the beginning and since then she stays near me or on my lap when I'm visiting. I've seen how she behaves with other people on, it's the same as Allison - always fighting for everything. And whenever I am around, people think I am a dog whisperer and they don't believe me when I say that it's like treating a baby- when you're new with them, let them welcome you on your own terms.
A man that walks a “less manly dog” proudly, shows that he’s confident and secure in his masculinity.
yes hes most likely insecure about his masculinity. hence the big muscles. the dog seems afraid of his hands if you watch closely in the video. I don't doubt he hits the little doggy causing her to be so fearful of him.

One of the toughest guys in my street walks his chihuahua with pride! Chin up, shoulders back and off they go: 5 times a day. It is a man’s dog.
Yes!! If a chihuahua can demasculate you then you went very masculine to begin with...
Agreed every dog is a man's dog ♡
Tell that to my 500Ib step dad who wants a husky. He lives in a tiny apartment....
I feel much respect for guys who walk small dogs, plus it’s a great gal magnet, all small dogs need to be on a harness as most do suffer with aggravated, chronic, injured tracheas.
Agreed. Although i walk a pocket bully and a poodle together on walks and i can't help being a guy magnet😂❤

Love how responsive these dog parents were to criticism. Loving this new season !
It is really weird to hear my name being used in these contexts. "Allison needs to be walked," "Allison won't let me pick her up." Great episode!
I agree!
Allison, is it time for walkies??
Damn, Allison, let them pick you up already
Allison wees on the floor when we put her leash on...
LOLLL yeah that's what I was thinking the entire time 😂 Not to mention that my dad's name is also Peter 😳

I know right also when she looked up at him before the lick
Victoria is jealous and wishes she was the dog
My friend has a Chihuahua mix, and using your techniques, I helped her with getting her dog's leash connected. Victoria really knows her stuff!
I hope your friend has a harness instead of a collar!

“a man’s dog” is just another way to say “my ego will be shattered if i’m seen with a small dog”

🎯🎯🎯

What a great episode
Find a good home for this cute dog!
Yes !a manly man can walk a tiny chihuahua with pride. We are proud of you. Thank you for teaching them and awesome doggie parents for taking her advice. But Poor little baby …she was scared and conflicted at the beginning.
Wow! Victoria is so good ☺
aw the dog is soo Cute =)
13:24 She literally looks like an Egyptian Queen or something. 🤣🤣😂😂
All I could hear was "I'm not going to call him dad" from Step brothers in the beginning XD
I can't get over the dog's name, Allison 😂
Alison flirting with that guy big time 😆
We don’t walk our labs daily - but we do “run them” (fast fetch!) several times a day. When it’s -20 degrees out with the streets a slick, slushy mess, walking is just not safe.
Almost every episode: Just walk your dog!
This couple is so attractive
She is so stinkin cute, I can’t deal 😅
Off topic but what a stunningly beautiful couple!
I love this new season!!!
Why would you not even think about trying on a harness? It just baffles me how people think that the collar is sufficiently comfortable
I love that they named their chihuahua "Alison".
It’s so cute ikr
that's your dog now dude - lucky you!
I think Allison is the best looking of the three of them 😁
