@Garomasta They can get walled out by swordies even when they use flip kick and the second half of flip kick is not invincible. Also try to mix up your tech options against ZSS since that's her main way of getting damage.
I actually expected pro guides to be clickbaity bs, but this is one of the most in depth, accurate, and helpful video ive seen for players entering the competetive scene. You dont make blanket statements, you suggest things amd explain why different options are better in different situations, you do a good job of explaining why low level players have trouble in disadvantage at a mentallity level and explain how to overcome it. good stuff guys
I also thought their advice was going to be meh, but most of their vids are very helpful. It's like if something seems too official i get the impression that it wont tell you anything, and just try to sell you things like guides that they claim will make you better.
I find PG very interesting. High highs, but also low lows. Their quality may not be consistent, but the gems like this really are very good and quite useful
Panic mode button mashing = me in a nutshell! I am usually really good at keeping the advantage once I have it, but the disadvantage is something I struggle with SO MUCH. I definitely need to work on focusing on safety before countering, and not panic mode button mashing
I learned to tech before I even knew what teching meant lol. And im gonna be honest... I didnt even realize i could neutral air dodge, im dumb. Im dope at spot dodging though.
well the more you play and experiment, the more youll begin to understand what youre seeing when top level players play. If you dont know what a rar bair is amd you see someome do it, youll probably be confused, but when you learn how to do it, how to vary it, when to use it and so on, youll recognize when someone does it, both when watching sets and when playing against someone else
memorize move-sets, then you wont be worried about inputs. If you know what the best option for neutral are for both characters, you'll see why they move around the way they do. Soon you'll start to preemptively call out what they do next.
miniyodadude I’ve watched many top players play and I’m still trying to figure out how they pull off Perries like their nothing, Fast neutral air? Back air falls and maybe dash dancing.
@@jonahabenhaim1223 Its all practice. Fast fall aerials (Or fastfalling after an aerial) is just pressing down fast after doing an aerial, but only after you reach the peak of you jump can you fastfall.
There is at least one exception who has a better directional air dodge than a neutral air dodge. Shulk likely has the best directional air dodges in the game when he uses Data Storage so it's actually more beneficial for him to use directional air dodges than neutral. The frames he has during invincibility are the same he needs to open up his arts so his arts window will cancel his lag, making his landing lag ZERO. You can go instantly into agressive arts and mixups like Smash, Buster and Speed to retaliate, go right into Shield or Jump if you expect punishment and even continue kill combos from a head stomp at high percents. An air dodge on the spot can even quickly swap out disadvantageous arts. Shulk doesn't even need to go into an art he just has to open up the window to cancel lag so directional air dodges are a fantastic option for him in all situations, unless someone predicts the air dodge so don't get super spammy. It's surprisingly easy to do, you just need to hold special while Shulk is in the air dodge and then release special when Shulk comes out of invincibility.
I just had the worst day of my life In a smash tourney I was fighting against some guy in a 2 stock and he absolutely rekt me but when I kept trying to hot him back he kept running say and crouching to taunt me in the last 20 seconds I hot him so we were even, but of course he had to one-hit me in the last 10 seconds and I can't even get revenge because it's a tourney
He says not to attack from disadvantage, but sometimes you have to. Constantly air dodging will condition your opponent to wait for the air dodge and react to it when you do it, putting you in a worse disadvantage state. While they're trying to make you air dodge you can sometimes catch them by surprise by throwing out a move in disadvantage, it also puts you in advantage or neutral at least. Cause good opponents still keep you in disadvantage even after you air dodge with stuff like frame traps.
I use Jigglypuff and Cloud. Most of my disadvantage comes from attacking too early and getting hit, contesting when I didn’t know frame data, or pressing R too late (I only play online).
I've been focused on learning my advantage and neutral but...my disadvantage is ass. I think it's time that I get better at my disadvantage FIRST before I start learning more neutral and advantage
@@ethan.m2243 - Haven't tried it out yet, as I solo main new characters for a month when they come out to learn all I can... I may not go back to Ridley, but he does somewhat seem like a faster Byleth with more options. Hard to say.
Counter-hitting should be more important in ultimate. Right now, the game punishes you for it. True combos, huge hitboxes, disjoints and weird move priorities cause counter-attacks that SHOULD work to fail miserably. Inkling and Ness are nearly uncontestable with counter attacks, even with clouds sword for crying out loud.
Here is a big criticisms of the video. You constantly tell the viewers to tech but never explain the word tech or how to actually perform a tech. Knowing all the possible way to perform tech can be a good thing to tech before you keep saying tech over & over. You forgot to go over the basics, like if this where a recovery video you'd say Up-B (easy to understand, press Up & B). You didn't even mention the bounce/lag that happen when you land without any inputs & why that's bad or how to tech to avoid it, Don't assume that the audience already have complex knowledge past the basics knowledge teach them the basics from the ground up before going to the advanced stuff.
He does say that a tech happens when you press the shield button before hitting a solid surface, and whilst he may not fully explain why not teching is a bad thing he does mention jab locks and how teaching can help avoid them. However, I do think that it is something that he should have gone into more detail with
True, but they've done several other videos on it. This video is not just about teching. I agree with you, but if someone is searching, they'll hear that term, be like "What?" and then put it into their searchbar to find it explained by a better channel.
