I’ve been real friends with derick for decades and this dude never once told me Merry Christmas but here I find him saying merry christmas to some guys he doesn’t even know
I still say it needs an Audi 5cyl(DAZA)! Look up some videos on the Group B Audi rally cars! They sound insane and it would be crazy to hear that coming from an old air cooled Porsche!
DAZA engines are big money, but the 07K is cheap and plentiful. Also neither of these have anything to do with group B since those were the old architecture and those engines are stupid expensive and hard to find.
Honestly 1.8t would be cool, AWM or AWW are probably gonna be your go to codes. but also a modern EA888 2.0t hour of a GTI or Golf R would be SICK!! you get valve lift and more displacement, I have an EA888 1.8t with some bolt ons and tuning and I much prefer the 2.0t. Much more violent of a power band!
@@recutional7922 fully agree it would be way more complex and expensive. Getting all the modules to communicate properly without throwing errors would be a huge issue and take so much time. But… bolt ons + is38 + MPI would make this thing a god damn WEAPON
Vr5 of vr6 would be very cool! Still VWAG but they sound so much cooler and are more "special" than the 1.8t. And they can handle a little bit of boost as well!
07k 2.5L 5 cylinder vw motor! Blocks are so cheap and they sound great and make power with a turbo kit. 1.8 is cool too but 2.5 all the way. Marry Christmas boys! 🔥🔥
Vw 2.5 5 cylinder 07k u can get them all day long and they do make adapters because its the same bell housing as 1.8t if u want a pure sound wot car haha
@StanleyKubick1 yea but it would be sick and with the belt accessories might actually fit better because of how low on the block (tight package right under the rear bumper) I think the block is only a couple inches longer than a 1.8t tho
@StanleyKubick1 also they can make around 500 all day long stock motor with a turbo, with rods+pistons they can do 700+ np. Not allot of people have gone much higher than that with the 07k vw motor tho, but its A V10 LAMBO MOTOR VW CUT IN HALF! Sounds sick too with boost! It's the older bother of the audi rs3. Just doesn't have duel cam fazers.
Austin is a G❤️ met him in Toronto and talked for a few minutes and he’s more humble in person then on video ! Super happy I got to meet the lads, merry Christmas !
the best engine to put in that car would be the audi 2.7t. if you feel like getting waist deep in a build you could put the vw 2.5 07k 5 cylinder the 1.8t would be my 3rd choice but good luck with the build whichever way you choose to go
I´m all in with the suggestion for the VR6 or maybe you can indeed score some Porsche motor like from the Boxter as someone suggested here in the comments ... Have a nice holiday break y´all! Grts from Belgium!
I go thru jimmy binge stretches every year for some reason, so excited for this build! By far the best automotive UA-camr, nice to see someone that actually builds the car themselves. You deserve so many more subscribers for the quality of your work!
Big port 1.8t Cams, springs and retainers, good valves, cut rings and new bearings, thicker head gasket, ko4 turbo and a decent manifold to keep it budget friendly, fun and still have decent power
As much as I want to see a sr20 in the Porsche the video of you a Bhall putting the mystery ecu in his 1.8t mk 2 is one of my favorite videos I think a 1.8t would be a better fit for this car
Just a heads up Jim those are upgraded rear torsion bars. They must have put them in with the v8. Factory torsion bars are black, red are always upgraded ones. I'm sure they have a part number on them to give you a rate.
@@ertebelj You can get just as much power out of the 3SGTE as you can with a K20 on stock internals. It would also be about the same amount of work considering they're both designed to be transversely mounted. The 3S was even used in the tiny mid engine mk2 mr2. Plus it's got some legit racing heritage behind it. I just feel like this engine gets overlooked far too often and it would be fckn rad to see Jimmy and the boys show us what it's capable of.🤘 Especially in an insane application like this🤣
High school poster car, love the SC, but the poster car was the 80's Turbo. Yes, I'm half a century years old, couldn't afford the 911, but did have the 944 turbo. Raced it a bit after a couple of mods. Just removing the rear glass was just under 100 pounds of saving. Sure, larger turbo improved much, but weight reduction and when the carbon driveshafts were introduced changed the whole feel! Keep educating Jimmy, it works. As an old Tech Ed educator, probably would have loved showing some of this, but regrettably would not have because of the lack of PPE used. Sometimes I forget this is entertainment and not education, for the most part... Pressure washing the interior, classic! HAHA Love how you keep referencing it as a 70's car.) Keep up the great work! Happy Christmas and Merry New Year!
Props to the man behind the cam Austin, great work dude, and thanks all! Big love to spoon for the craftsmanship, dude is a magician. Rjay thank you for responding to a lot of comments on the gram. Steve please keep hitting us with your majestic ways with words! Last of all Jimmy mad respect for what you've created over the years! And for what's coming in the future! Most of all Merry Christmas ❤🎄🙏🌲
Something that would be hilarious it's if you put a air cooled beetle engine in it and slap a turbo in it. Sure it would make less power but you could get from 200 to 300hp out of it.
These days you can make 400hp out of a “beetle” style engine, there’s enough aftermarket to make a whole fuel injected turbo set up using absolutely no vw parts. You can go out to 2.3L on the aftermarket blocks.
Just came here to post about the Saab B234 and B235 engines again. Euro, 4cyl, turbo, iron block that withstands a lot of boost. FWD spec. Now I'll go on watching the video.
@10:42 what you mean. the jack is in the fronk.. lol. @10:42 the jax : lmfao and yes, you bounce the ball and try to scoop up as many jax as you can while catching the ball before it falls back to the floor. if successful you keep those jax, if not oyu put them back and your turns over
There's a place here in Ontario that will dry ice blast cars in and out. And reapply the factory wax undercoating. They are called HoneySeal. You should check it out!
The color is going to be so sick! You gave it away and we finally got a glimpse after the black white shots! Keep it up man awesome content and awesome job as always!
You need to try the 3M RD-ZB plastic rotary brushes to remove the old interior glue, they have Roloc fittings and bristles instead of an abrasive foam or paper on. Stanceworks used them to remove the Ferrari glue on his project, I have used them a lot, they are laborious but work and don’t remove any paint.
The amount of work you guys put in day in day out you guys have the best team period !! And shout out to austin for the upcoming year end recap cant wait to see it!
K-series 911 has been done, it works. How about a boosted J-series, turbo or supercharged? Keeps it a six cylinder, should fit perfect in the engine bay, nd it's something different.
Pretty please, put the euro bupmers on (if you keeping it stockbody, hehe), since the US bumpers look so bulgy with the big black rubber blocks on. Loving the content, and hopefully the 1.8t build, hehehe.
The 1.8l should be the pick. After the pro chassis 240 is done along with the bmv drift beater is done. Oh can’t forget about the new porche is finished could you build a rwd integra late 90s model with an engine swap. But either way if it doesn’t happen can’t wait to see the next build. Each video I watch shows your progression since the original Z lbs swap. Love the content always something new with every build.
I know all the hype with a K20 and all. But when I was in the scene I had a Cavalier with the 2.2 Ecotec with 12lbs of boost and made an easy 350hp and very reliable and sounded great. That would be nice to see in the P car
The volume and quality of content you guys put out is pretty insane. The Oaks team is the one UA-cam team I never get tired of and they put out the most content. Merry Christmas fellas 🤘🏼🤘🏼
good times good vibes!! love to see BHall at the shop again, kinda miss the dude. hope everyone around oakes garage doing well. Merry Christmas Team. keep doing what ya'll do!
1.8t for sure. Keep it in the euro family!
1.8t to see Brian hyped as well.
2.8/3.2 vw v6 be better 😜
Had that in my old audi s3,.would be good
3.2 would be sick!
1.8t or a vr6 would be cool to see
VW 3.2 VR6 would probably fit in there! It has a lot of boost potential also :D
As a OG Jimmy Oakes follower I get excited every time I see Brian at the shop. Merry Christmas Jimmy and the gang!

Vr6 would be the ultimate swap if your after na goodness, easy to turbo aswell 👀 if not 1.8t
You're onto something N/A or supercharged VR6 with a 6-1 exhaust would look and sound amazing.
Vr would sound amazing period. Add some 268 cams and it’d be even more fun.
Feel like a 1.8 would blow fast, vr5 or 6 would be sick turboed.
I'd definitely love to see a vr6 in this puppy!
OMG yeeeesss vr6 would be mint
5 cylinder with a Borg Warner would go crazy.
Turbo 07k would keep it cheap and sound so good. Also a fan of the VR6 suggestions =). Either way a VW engine in this thing would be great
A 5cyl would be sick!
Imposter
5cyl is the way 😊
A vr5 would actually be sick!!

1.8t BAM is a decent engine too
1.8t for sure. my b8 2.0t is great but way to complex for a build like this

they weigh about the same as that boat anchor that they just pulled out
@TheUberdude14 it's a classic 911...it's already light so there's room to give
Vr6 would be sick but 1.8T if you have to.
I’m building the rear suspension for a mid engine twin turbo 930 right now. I’d suggest a 5 cylinder.
07k 2.5L 5 cylinder vw motor! Blocks are so cheap and they sound great and make power with a turbo kit. 1.8 is cool too but 2.5 all the way. Marry Christmas boys! 🔥🔥
Jimmy - you gotta do the Daza 5cyl - something light, enough power stock and different enough to be a fair swap for a 911.
I think I vr6 swap would be sick
A 2.9 litre VR6 (24v version) would be fun too.
They never sold a 2.9 24v in North America. 12v vr6 is my choice, sounds the best with the og rasp.
Vr6 would sound so good
Vw 2.5 5 cylinder 07k u can get them all day long and they do make adapters because its the same bell housing as 1.8t if u want a pure sound wot car haha

Merry Christmas Jimmy and the Boys♥️✨
I love my 1.8t! Great little motors! And capable of respectable power!
Thank you for the end surprise !!!!!
1.8t would be nice to see. Here in Brazil we prepare a lot of vw engines and it is very common to see 8v producing 700hp+.
Big port 1.8t
Cams, springs and retainers, good valves, cut rings and new bearings, thicker head gasket, ko4 turbo and a decent manifold to keep it budget friendly, fun and still have decent power
Was the vr6 turbo considered for the swap?
There’s so many of us that want to see a vr6 swap from jimmy. It better happen. 1.8t is boring at least do a vr5 or 07k
It should be, but he seems to be ignoring all the VR6 comments.
1.8t only
@@bryan_turner pretty fake of him tbh. At least acknowledge the comments lol

Curveball... Toyota 3SGTE w/ forged rods and pistons. Way smoother than any K series or Honda for that matter. Also, it hasn't been done before.

It really is one of the best 4cyls ever made.
How in the world does Jimmy not have one or two million followers. You guys need to keep watching his videos and subscribe
Vr6 would be insane
I would be so torn between VRT and 1.8t or ea888 2.0t. A few VRT Porsche swaps have been done already but man VR’s sound so damn cool

VR6 with Porsche 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨
Creamy white with martini racing livery type of vibe I'm getting from this build.
Pick a 1.8T keep it in the Euro family and on top of that a lot of support and options with the 1.8T
Take the front fenders off and look for possible rust.
Very common place to rust on top. Fix is usually easy.
I've seen those rear circular cutouts in the sideskirt and just figured it was a spot for jack point adapters, what its actually for is hilarious
