Jimmy is the most experienced inexperienced person ever and I love that confidence. Every time he does something for the first time which I’m sure is so often he does so much research that he just walks us through it like he has been there 100 times before
For the plasma cutter get a alluminum flat bar or box tube etc.. you can use that as a ruler or guide to lean the torch up against makes for much cleaner straighter cuts!
I don't even know if you'll see this jimmy but I really appreciate you making videos I know I haven't bought Merch I haven't spent money with you but I wholeheartedly support you and the guys life's been pretty rough but at least I get to look forward to waking up and watching your videos and that's what keeps me going don't ever stop doing what you're doing even when you have your kid even when you're old as fuck thanks for all the good memories
Taking the seam sealer off to stitch weld the rest of the chassis is grand but to keep the smoke out you're going to want to put the seam seal back on. I think James Deane covered it in one of the videos building the 14.9 😁👍 happy new year to you and the crew looking forward to what you have in store for 2024!
Hey pro tip I’ve learned from many race car preps. Liquid nitrogen is the absolute best way to remove sound deadening. Get it from the welding store, pour it into the floor, and you just gotta tap it with a hammer and all the sound deadening shatters. So much more fun too
A trick I learned from an old timer was to use a piece of angle iron on your line. This way the cut will be strait cause the tip of the plasma cutter can rest up against edge of the angle iron.
I was just thinking whilst you were cutting away the rear quarter panel “how do you NOT have a plasma cutter?” & it turns out that not only do you have one, but you’ve had it for a long time 😩. The subscriber who sent it must have also been pissed up to now that you never used their kind donation, I hope they got to see it, what a massively generous thing to send as they are such an awesome tool.
from my understanding the "spot" stitch style is slightly more prone to cracking on the weld but is less likely to tear a seem. The 1-2 inch stitch will be more resistant to cracking on the weld but may pass impact forces in to the chassis substructure and will tear the seem if hit hard enough.
Happy New Year and Thanx for good content! I’m recovering from spine surgery and had a hard this year but watching you guys gives me som “timme off” from pain and misery for 20 minutes every now and then. Hope you come to Sweden and drift some time in the future! /Rick
Dude look into dustless blasting would save you a ton of time and give you a good surface to lay some primer down on. Definitely so worth it will blast off seam sealer and everything
Tip when using the plasma cutter. get a scrap piece of metal clamp it to whatever you are butting rest the edage of the cup/tip against t as a guide it make sure it arcs on the line and you wil get a straight line eveery time
Seems like leaving the dry ice in the bag was the move, easy cleanup, and concentrated the cold in an area to super chill versus spreading it out making it cold. Love seeing the improvement of techniques and work in the shop! I’ve learned so much from you guys that I can apply in my own projects
Ya I think rotisserie is best. Like you guys do....Love it all the time. Thanks for the dry ice or heat demo. Love the pro build...can't wait. HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉 Everyone. Can't wait for my number 1 youtube channel has in store for 2024.
I just fixed a bit of flat bitumen roofing for the first time and it's very much the same stuff as that sound deadening is. The trick is to not make it too hot. It'll prevent the smearing but still will let you take it of in one piece. A good heat gun will do the trick as well.
Didn't expect a vid this year after the recap, and here BWAM Oakes delivers ❤ thanks for keeping us entertained. Best wishes and see you in '24, can't wait, this pro comp car, the 2 porshes, the EA86, Spoons Drift Car, and that's just a small part. Also hyped to go to Ultrace in Poland. MAAANNNN '24 gonna be a good year! BIG '24 GUY!
plasma cutters are the best. i’ve been programming cnc plasma tables and tube cutters for the past 2 years. you might like having a small cnc cutters for the shop. Teach Spoon some fusion 360 for some pieces like that wheel arch and maybe a handheld 3d scanner. It makes life waaay easier and takes out guesswork.
love the plasma cutting! spoon should use a piece of flat straight steel as a guideline for his cuts so he can get those crisp straight lines. still awesome love all the builds keep killing it boiz
I know it's not gonna be in the elements but smoke will find any way possible to get inside with how little it affects wieght id seam seal after stitch welding the chassis
I wish we knew about the dry ice method of removing sound deadening, because back in the day people used gallons of wd40 or de-greasser. And you have to let it soak over night or at least for couple of days.
You should do a thin layer of Lexan on the inside of the wheel arch, so it catches all the burn out rubber. That way you’re not heating and scraping the rubber it off every time you can just unbolt Lexan.
I like the way yous done the rear arches 👌 the same way we do them and James Deanes does . 💯🤙👌 needs a good strut brace style bars that go around the radiator some how. 💯👌 that down bar to the rear box section could pull the tower inwards if the box took a big hit from the side.
Cheaper than STEEL-IT Use COLD GALVANIZER or zinc-it the area. It looks like primer gray(or you can paint over it), you can weld through it and it protects. I wanna say Rust-Oleum and crc make it.
The way I've removed sound deadening before is to put the car outside when its below freezing and it works the same way as the dry ice. If you don't want to mess with dry ice this is another way that works good.
Good start to the pro car. Really hyped for this build. With the high level quality cars you guys been pumping out, I think this one is gonna be the best out of all of em
Jimmy is the most experienced inexperienced person ever and I love that confidence. Every time he does something for the first time which I’m sure is so often he does so much research that he just walks us through it like he has been there 100 times before
Couldn’t have said it better, this channel has become my fav to watch recently ngl
that’s why i love watching jimmy. always learning something new. very good at explaining a lot of things. he’s taught me a lot lol
Couldn't have said it any better.
Jimmy always has me excited to see what I will learn next when it comes to car project builds!
I 100% agree lol cause I watch them and get motivated then stand in front of my car and feel like I’m fighting my biggest battle😭
The Legend Jimmy O saving us from Saturday boredom 💪
Absolutely ❤
Go work on something
Plenty of sports on today lmfao
This is filling in my Sunday
Facts 😆
For the plasma cutter get a alluminum flat bar or box tube etc.. you can use that as a ruler or guide to lean the torch up against makes for much cleaner straighter cuts!
"Sitting in a container for a few months"? Smells like this car might be joining Adams for some driftmasters shennanigans? :D
Next time for the plasma cutter, clamp a guide for the torch to drag across to get quick, straight lines.
And water collection the at it sprays into… saves on the mess.
gotta use a hot wheels to rest your hand/the gun on for a smooth cut LOL
Cheap ass level from home deport always worked for me as a guide hotwheel hella good idea. Comment section clutch with tips
That inner fenderwell I ran all the way out to my overs for good seal for tire debris
Steel it would be a great sponsor for all the work you guys are doing
Exciting stuff!
This next year will be the best year of Jimmy’s life can’t wait to see it unfold !
And the most restless.. #newdad 😂
He gonna be a Daddy
I NEED Y'ALL TO MAKE ALL THE PRO CAR VIDS LIKE THIS. insane vibes. So much to learn. So much to enjoy.
Spoon is too good man. Just absolute amazing work an thought into everything he makes or fixes.
Idk about y'all but I'm getting flash backs from when Adam first built the orange s15 I'm so stoked to see Jimmy's 2024 💪🏻👍🏻
26:02 Steve, I love rotisserie chickens too, man. You should make a rotisserie chicken Porsche Oakes design probably
yea spoon u can never go wrong with a pair of buttas 😂best boots ever
Hey pro tip I’ve learned from many race car preps. Liquid nitrogen is the absolute best way to remove sound deadening. Get it from the welding store, pour it into the floor, and you just gotta tap it with a hammer and all the sound deadening shatters. So much more fun too
Spoon is sumn else man ima need him to build my comp car tbh.
Jimmy going pro in Europe 😏
A trick I learned from an old timer was to use a piece of angle iron on your line. This way the cut will be strait cause the tip of the plasma cutter can rest up against edge of the angle iron.
I feel like all of Jimmy's videos should be a minimum of 30 min. Who's with me? Happy New Year, Jimmy and Gang, and to the best community on YT baby.
Fellas use a straight edge and really fall in love with that plasma. Keep up the good work fellas
Hope you guys had good Christmas happy new to you all.
"It's my dog I need to put it down"🤣🤣
Love the way Jimmy and the boys alway rep their friends channels merch. Great to see 🤝🏻
Spoon you can use a straight edge with the plasma cutter to make those cuts a lot straighter.
If you take a straight edge and clamp it to the metal with vice grips it makes cutting with the plasma cutter so much easier and cleaner.
Honestly this video was super refreshing. I absolutely love the selfy cam style it feels more authentic like the old videos.
Pro tip on the plasma cutter, use a straight edge to guide the tip and you'll have cuts that need almost no clean up and be perfectly straight
Love the criticism that Spoon can give Jimmy just with a look. Absolutely hilarious.
Always look forward to seeing how project going on a Saturday
YESS ROTISSERIE
Jimmy O Happy 2024 !
The excess metal sticking out the back from the wheel arch looked like a kinda cool spoiler.
from my understanding the "spot" stitch style is slightly more prone to cracking on the weld but is less likely to tear a seem. The 1-2 inch stitch will be more resistant to cracking on the weld but may pass impact forces in to the chassis substructure and will tear the seem if hit hard enough.
Cereal boxes, frozen pizza boxes etc are also handy when using CAD and they are "free".
So happy when Jim post love from BRIDGEPORT CT
Alot of new paints that have been released this past year are all DTM now (direct to metal) witch is awesome big move for the industry
Happy New Year and Thanx for good content! I’m recovering from spine surgery and had a hard this year but watching you guys gives me som “timme off” from pain and misery for 20 minutes every now and then. Hope you come to Sweden and drift some time in the future! /Rick
Id seam seal again after stich welding to help keep the smoke out of the cabin before paint
man i love watching you guys do metall-work
Dude look into dustless blasting would save you a ton of time and give you a good surface to lay some primer down on. Definitely so worth it will blast off seam sealer and everything
Cool the way you showed both techniques
I can’t get enough of the new pro car build!!! I can’t wait to see the cage go in.
For plasma cutting, highly recommend a brass straight edge. It’ll make the cuts straighter and a lot easier to clean up. Keep up the good work!!
All the best for 2024 guys
Thanks for giving me something to watch on night work 👍🏼
Tip when using the plasma cutter. get a scrap piece of metal clamp it to whatever you are butting rest the edage of the cup/tip against t as a guide it make sure it arcs on the line and you wil get a straight line eveery time
To you, the team and all families involved the biggest happy new year and wishing you all the best in 2024!!!
Seems like leaving the dry ice in the bag was the move, easy cleanup, and concentrated the cold in an area to super chill versus spreading it out making it cold. Love seeing the improvement of techniques and work in the shop! I’ve learned so much from you guys that I can apply in my own projects
Stoked to see the Porsche on a rotisserie ❤
Ya I think rotisserie is best.
Like you guys do....Love it all the time. Thanks for the dry ice or heat demo.
Love the pro build...can't wait. HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉
Everyone. Can't wait for my number 1 youtube channel has in store for 2024.
Don't forget the gap at top of strut tower underneath Spoon! 💪🏼
Building the ultimate S chassis build is sick!! Just like James Deane's S14.9 build 🔥🔥👏👏
Man 2024 is going to be hell of a ride.. so excited for the build and the year ahead.. more power to you jimmy and team..
If you're ever using a Plasma cutter for long cuts, a bit of flat bar and some vice grips will make a real good guide for faster cuts
I just fixed a bit of flat bitumen roofing for the first time and it's very much the same stuff as that sound deadening is. The trick is to not make it too hot. It'll prevent the smearing but still will let you take it of in one piece. A good heat gun will do the trick as well.
Thank you for all the videos this year.
This build is going to kill!!! Jimmy has been waiting for this and I promise he won’t let us down.

This is my top automotive YT channel, the vibes are unmatched. Shout out to the entire Oakes gang. Happy New Year boys.

Keen to see what this turns into in 2024 ❤
Damnit Jim! you get me excited about the Porsche build and do this to me.😂
Thanks for the entertainment 👍☮️
I just assumed you had given it away, or it got lost in the shop! YAY! Plasma for the win!
Couldn't get here fast enough!
Plus Sir Spoon is back!
Big Jim and the Oakes boredom prevention team always comes through! 💪🏼💪🏼
Saturday morning upload? LETS GO WITH JIMMY O! 🤘
Didn’t even know it was Saturday, days loose there meaning on the holidays
@@SKOMPASI've been a day off all week. Realized yesterday that it was Friday not Thursday
love the plasma cutting! spoon should use a piece of flat straight steel as a guideline for his cuts so he can get those crisp straight lines. still awesome love all the builds keep killing it boiz
Reaping keep it reet! Love it Jimmy
Thabks for the video. And 100% media blast that Porsche
Fabrication videos are amazing! Great job guys.
Jimmy on top with the sick builds and content in a shop
Loved to see all the progress y’all made in this video 👏🏼
Use a straight edge like a ruler with that plasma and it will make a perfect edge
You need to protect those eyes when using a plasma. The arc is brighter than a weld.
Learned so much on this video it was wild. Stilll waiting for the DPT
I know it's not gonna be in the elements but smoke will find any way possible to get inside with how little it affects wieght id seam seal after stitch welding the chassis
Oh my god this video must be so satisfying for whoever sent that plasma cutter
Love it still using the same outro song so nostalgic mucho love !!
Let's go Jimmy and the Boyz 🎉 happy new year and blessings to all of the people 🙏 that follows these Channel
You should totally go with dustless blasting on the Porsche and would be cool to see you guys put it on a rotisserie.
you can use a ruler to make strait cuts
I wish we knew about the dry ice method of removing sound deadening, because back in the day people used gallons of wd40 or de-greasser. And you have to let it soak over night or at least for couple of days.
Oh yeah the wd40 and de-greasser is a pain and the butt, and it is so messy and smelly.
Works great to clean up left over residue after dry ice. I just use pb blaster
That sticker removal aerosole works well on sound deading
Happy new year for all of you guys
Looking bloody good boys
Cars are coming out awesome👌🏻
We missed you too spoon ❤️
You should do a thin layer of Lexan on the inside of the wheel arch, so it catches all the burn out rubber. That way you’re not heating and scraping the rubber it off every time you can just unbolt Lexan.

Yes Sandblast and rotisserie the Porsche, it's worth it!
Happy new year my bro’s. Been a huge year and I’ve loved watching every minute! May the prosperity continue throughout 2024 ❤
Cheaper than STEEL-IT Use COLD GALVANIZER or zinc-it the area. It looks like primer gray(or you can paint over it), you can weld through it and it protects. I wanna say Rust-Oleum and crc make it.
Class of 06 ab here fits looking tight
I can’t wait for the next year I’m so hyped for the pro build!!!!
If u put a strait piece of metal or something u can cut it a lot straiter
The way I've removed sound deadening before is to put the car outside when its below freezing and it works the same way as the dry ice. If you don't want to mess with dry ice this is another way that works good.
Good start to the pro car. Really hyped for this build. With the high level quality cars you guys been pumping out, I think this one is gonna be the best out of all of em
So I guess jimmy is going to drift master as well. ThTz dope 🔥
