LOL! We have a trained and certified service dog to assist my profoundly autistic son who has a serious seizure disorder. But because our dog is a Golden Retriever, people just cannot resist stopping, talking, and petting him. The vest was rarely a deterrent so we just traded the official vest for a therapy dog vest. It was the best, albeit most controversial decision that we ever made, but now the dog serves everyone, especially and including my son - who has benefited so much from the additional social interactions. My son's communication and confidence skills have improved and now he actually enjoys going to new places and meeting new people with his therapy 'service' dog.
Wow, wow, wow! What a story and I can imagine the decision for the vest wasn’t easy. But how cool how much your son has benefited from all those new interactions. No one can resist a golden as we know, but now your son is making friends right alongside his Goldie bestie!! ☺️ I bet that makes you so proud!!
Dry nice explains g therapy dogs and service dogs. When I see the advice dog I don’t go near because I know they are inky trained for that person who they are with. I never seen a therapy dog until Nash. Never saw my brothers dog who was a therapy dog I believe because he got it from somebody who died and put the dog up for adoption. But all this is good to know thank you both so much in all you do! Have a great day and see you soon! Stay safe!
